  1. Hey Rob, good find and yes they are loud.... everyone will know you have one on now..... I still have all mine from back in the sixties seventies era mine were purchased from WOODWARDS and Frenchies as this was pre fly shops.... you definitely will need to palm these as drag is minimal with the spring pawl set-up.....
  2. The only boat I would consider if I replaced my Spring Creek Hopper II
  3. More importantly how was the Bone or Shark chuming on Acklins......
  4. I believe that would be north/east unless there's two Bruce Lakes
  5. Saw lots of Robins in Southern Alberta on the weekend and had a peregrine whistling around the neighborhood yesterday......
  6. Perhaps its time to think about a seasonal closure on the Bow like there is on all the tributaries.... maybe give the fish a break in the winter and at spawning time......
  7. Do it soon or you might have to deal with ice around the shore
  8. This time of year i don't touch'em if I can help it.... quick release tool comes in handy with the small dries.....
  9. I do not think I would take mine as it is glass(and I have other boats) but alu should be fine with the low water and only one in the pram..... the lower stretch would be best a it is flatter water....maybe try Jensens/Legacy Island to Carseland as a test stretch as it is a shorter float
  10. Works over-rated...... why can't they send an email instead..... Try Prairie Mobile in Calgary if you are looking to rent
  11. Some of the Outfitters offer a reduced rate for a single usually only a hundred or so cheaper but you get the front of the boat all day and the guides full attention......often worthwhile for some keep in mind you will be floating at the busiest time of year so try to pick a week day Monday to Thursday as Friday might as well be the weekend around here
  12. Except that the Athabasca strain is native
  13. I suspect its a mute point as it was likely in Johnson since the eighties
  14. On some of the rivers(beats) one is not permitted to enter the water unless there is a fish rising that the angler could cast to..... that would make the Bow a different game
  15. Temporary fix as being on a outside corner its not an ideal place for a put-it as it sees the brunt of run-off flooding from erosion and debris
  16. Time of year, weather, water conditions will always determine your choice of trickery......... at the more famous one fly on the Southfork Snake... Double-bunny won a three years in a row
  17. This time of year you might consider a backswimmer/ boatman ......
  18. Was having lunch on the river this past Saturday which was a little bit on the windy side.... anyways we were sitting at a stashed table when a rather loud crack sounded and a large branch from a cottonwood hit the ground about 20 ft away. I hate sleeping in a cottonwood forest on a stormy night....glad to hear they were alright as you would not expect to hit by a falling tree while floating a river
  19. Yep I can recommend one, its called a 4mm nylon cord (MEC or climbing shop) and o-rings similar to what your keys are on.... problem solved you will never loose another tool.... every year I find a few in the boat after the season....hmm maybe I have one of yours......
  20. TG-4 but buy a pelican case for it for extra protection....not that it needs it but it will help with flotation and the 1020 fits it perfectly
  21. Good to see you fishing Hoot Hours.... when its cool and quiet..... beware the moors...
  22. Agreed on the local retailer bit but go to one that sells the product ie Sunglasses..... if I have an issue with my Honda outboard I won't take it to the Honda west car dealership....just saying
  23. Not wanting to cause a stink as to interweb shopping but warranty service would be a good reason to buy local ..... then as a customer you will get better service and may not have to pay shipping charges as they may replace from their own inventory.....just saying from experience regarding such issues... its hard to blame a local shop for their reluctance.... on the other hand by helping out they might gain a customer...... most sunglasses are sold by optical shops now a days although flyshops still sell them not many winter shops carry them anymore surprised to hear A-bomb does other than goggles
  24. Better to have hooked and lost.... than to have not hooked at all..... William the Fisher
  25. This would be a time to keep'em wet ie...in the water with less handling.....
