  1. Atomic sunsets.... looks like you guys had a good trip....off to chase Roosters tomorrow
  2. Yes that's from the upper pond judging from the background, haven't been down since 2 years ago myself
  3. as the song goes..... you call some place Paradise.... Kiss it Goodbye
  4. Just look for the bait tubs :$*%&:
  5. He dips his flies in Curare just like his Arrows
  6. Personally 4x-5x(depending on fly size) and 10 to14 feet in rivers longer on lakes.... but I biggest concern is making my first cast my best one...
  7. Never used one for fresh but always travel with one to tropical locals particularly for beach fishing.... I know they sell them but mine is a small tupperware box with slits in it for a belt and I load all my essentials in it for the trip ie reels, lines, boga, fly boxes etc.... so it really takes up minimal space and is actually fairly comfortable to wear..... empty of course.
  8. I wore the RiverWalkers stickys for 3 or 4 seasons had the felts also, the lightest most comfortable boot for me to date, they were about the same as the Simms headwaters/vapours in and out of the water but had nowhere near the durability as I went through a pair a year(uppers fell apart) compared to the Simms which I would get 2-3 seasons out of before I walked the soles off. I hear the new Tractors are better for wear but I have no reason to change back as I am happy with the other guys. If the shoe fits wear it as they need to fit your foot shape first and foremost.
  9. Thats why I bought the bulk pack..... easy to replace
  10. Its a trade off ...hard to beat felts in the water but they suck on shore ie....wet grass mud etc.... hard to beat rubber/vibram like out of the water..... simms makes screw in aluminum cleats for the vapors that add a ton of traction for those slippery bulltrout/cuttie streams and you won't notice them walking
  11. I believe the main reason it was posted was because there is a large number of deer on the island and there was an issue of unleashed dogs chasing them. Easiest way to control this was no access to all..... not as good water now post flood as it was prior....
  12. Despite a number of choices a 490 RPL is still the favorite
  13. Its crazy up there ..... just got off the horn with a pal who's a safety inspector up there... he said most of the town is evacuated north into the camps but its a mess..... a good chunk of Mac is gone....
  14. Sage warranties- Very happy with their service, sent rods back on my own as I was advised by a local shop that they wait until they have a #s of rods to send before they ship. Cost is more but not ridiculous, sent tracked shipping via Canada post .... mentioned I needed if possible the one rod for a salt trip in late May the other whenever, older XP I had forgotten about...IMAO.... received the salt back within two weeks of sending and the other arrived today which had to be built because of the age... less than a month total.... well worth the price as they were useless broken and one was a self induced cluster ?%#@ so not the rods fault.... as if it ever is .... might have to sell off a few RPLs and get some of the latest models...... hold it I was getting silly for a second!
  15. Keep in mind ones thoughts on a rod will vary depending on what you use regularly.... if you use a super fast action (Sage TCR) you likely won't like slow actions unless you slow every thing down vice versa if you always use a glass or bamboo... generally slower and softer you wont like a fast action... its all subject to the user and although the shootout is more independent than most tests in magazines..do they still make those?....at the end of the day they are trying to sell rods whether in a shop..aka Yellowstone Angler or advertising in a magazine in which case they don't like to pan anything too much
  16. I'd always heard that country tail was better
  17. We used to take out where Nosehill creek comes in but that was a few grey hairs ago
  18. Seemed like more patrons and a lot fewer tables, would of thought there would be a few shops there ....... extra important in todays economic conditions to support events like this big or small .... managed to score a couple of new C&F saltwater boxes for 20 a piece... now I need to start tying to fill them up before June
  19. BOA is free replacement if you contact them directly but you may buy replacement from Simms .....best way to avoid issues is to pre order free from BOA(lifetime warranty) not Simms before you have an issue .... that being said I prefer laces myself as it takes a little time to replace BOA on the river ..... not that many fail or they would not be so popular in the snowboard world... if you are hard on your gear go with laces
  20. Happy and sad I kind of liked the added solitude when it was closed but I will enjoy the shorter walks/peddles
  21. That's just silly .... how would I catch Butterflies
  22. I think that's my guide from my last trip to Cayo Coco
  23. If you are doing moving water (ie rivers) you should have both oars and fins ideally.... fins help with minor boat control and can be removed when wading, quad pontoons are nice, float higher and safer but heavy to move by yourself
  24. Calgary Aluminum or Aerotech are probably looking for work right now with the downturn
  25. used Sage 5100 Z-axis or RPL or similar length from another maker .... the extra length is nice out of a float tube.... brand is only my preference of models... faster rods
