  1. Not an expert in these things ie professional but a very large Splake comes to mind
  2. Hey Peter, In all my trips to the Baja, Ascension, Isla Blanca, Boca Paila both guided and DIY I have never had to buy a license and even when I have asked I have been told it is not necessary. I will be buying for the Bahamas this year for the first time for flats fishing. I can not speak for open Ocean trips as I have not done that type of fishing. Sorry I could not give you a definitive answer
  3. Looks a lot like a company that was around a while back building boats over by Blackfoot called Tsunami Boats ... could be the same .... remember they had really high gunnels better suited to lakes.... whatever you do make sure you go with welded vs riveted.... unless of course you are only rowing it without a motor.... so it won't take a pounding
  4. Every body shape is different, at 6'1" and 215 I typically wear a large pant and a xl shirt but because I have cows vs calves for lower legs and a short inseam for my height 31" I wear an XLS in a G4.... yes its bigger up top but in a large short I stretch the seams in the calf area so the extra room in the XL is key.... too tight is as big an issue as too large.... take your time and try some different options available before you purchase and try them on with what you would wear under them ie long johns or wicking layer
  5. Rob, one of my pals was down there this fall doing exactly (complete with iphone videos) that and said it was insane... you don't get the numbers but who cares when they eat like that... I have had similar fun with Tarpon fishing gurglers ... its not always about numbers is it.... great video.... Merry Xmas ....... I may have to buy another boat
  6. Back in the good ole days a dollar a lb ..... 32lb anchor 32dollars .... glad to still have my 3 originals
  7. Was out Sat AM looking for Wapiti and found a bunch but no legal bulls.... right at Sun up the wolves started up.... have not heard that in a bit .... wish I had the time to hear it more often.... hope to sneak out again before its next year time.....
  8. Well I thought for sure that you had filled your freezer with venison...... and here you are getting all Artsey Fartsey ..... nice photo Rob... any luck?
  9. One would think with the highest #s of redds above 22x particularly reach #3 that it might be prudent to have a closure all the way to 22x if we really want to protect and improve the fishery. I do not think you would get much of a protest from the Guides its more likely to come from your average angler. There is still a lot of fishable water all the way to Carseland. Sometimes posting this type of information while very educational tends to put more less caring anglers on sections of water like the Mallard point channel at the most critical time ie fall spawning. The same problem has been going on for years at the Highwood confluence in the spring as the Rainbows stack up waiting for increased flows to begin their journeys up the Highwood and the #s of caring fisherman fishing this area just seems to increase. Sorry for the Rant...... hope I haven't offended any groups or individuals
  10. Fish really don't care what it looks like .... flies are mostly tied to catch fly fisherman... the rattier they get the better they work
  11. I would think you have a lot of birds nesting in the area in the spring so probably best to leave the channels alone through there. Pre-2005 flood I use to do a lot of early morning floats from Blackfoot down always had great fishing along through the golf course side with lots of buckets that were perfect for streamering out big Browns and Bows along with the occasional pike.....there was never an urge to fish the west bank at that point in time and a much smaller yellow dingy hatch to deal with too!
  12. Yes fish out of a lake like Beaver tend to taste like the snails they eat...... yuk .... back to your question.... Brookies when I catch them in the mountain criks, always for lunch that day
  13. Would like to of snuck by as I am just south of there however with few days off and winter coming the river called and I went..... good day on micro leeches and boatmen with a few snouts in the middle...glad to hear the sale was a success.... get out while you can... back to work for me
  14. Now that you've gone to the darkside what fly gear have you got for sale or to give away........lol
  15. Angler, Spores may lie dormant for up to 30 years so its quite possible it was already there
  16. Much more likely from hatchery fish stocked in a lake (Johnson etc....) but its possible a traveling angler may have brought it via dirty equipment from Colorado,Montana or elsewhere
  17. I believe if my failing memory serves me well that the hatchery was shut down for PIN virus around the mid 80's about the time they apparently stopped stocking those wild rainbows in Johnson perhaps there were other things besides Fish Aids present at the time....... makes one wonder doesn't ....
  18. Spores can reside in the mud for more than 20 years and are so far have been impossible to eradicate so they may have been there all along and the government does not always tell you everything they know ..... just saying
  19. In that its in a lake that has been stocked its likely the fish were infected prior to stocking which is the way it has been spread primarily in the past most notably in Colorado even after they knew the fish were infected at the hatcheries...... but continued to stock them
  20. Opposite issue for me I need to take mine off to tie flies on but if I needed the help I would get the Clic readers with the magnetic bridge
  21. Can not say for sure but one would think that a company.... Sage for example looks to make sure that their reels balance with their own rods before they worry about other brands as it sounds they do.... no different than a Burton boot fitting better with a Burton binding for instance.... so stands to reason that one needs to check this before hand when purchasing... although I would prefer to replace the reel than the rod if I had a choice as I never buy a rod model before I have had it in my hand
  22. non-slip mono-loop for the salt and streamers
