  1. UST is a scandi line for spey casting, would be a really bad idea to go that route Where is he planning on fishing. I'd still say that a floating line is going to do 90% of most anglers fishing, unless they're strictly fishing lakes
  2. I'd stop and ask, before blowing by one. Unless you have proof that you stopped at the initial one. I know they'll chase down people who skip it
  3. You'll do well to very well swinging flies at that time of year, particularly into mid river bars and buckets. Clousers, geek leeches... Gideeyup
  4. That'll work.. Cut off the front hook, for the fishes gills and eyes sake. Ya you might miss a couple, but at least you'll feel like less of a dick
  5. Let me know the last time you got a 30" bull trout in AB, let alone on a dry...
  6. Useful..
  7. Its fun to throw mice flies at them, but they'll eat Chernobyl's all day long (and with more consistency). Mice-ing is cool, but if they don't eat it, they're probably not going to eat a follow up fly. Don't forget to 'meep meep meep' while stripping

    Fly Line

Take a look at it. If it's covered in cracks, time to replace
  9. http://newsroom.calgary.ca/calgarians-advised-to-use-caution-as-elbow-river-water-levels-rise/
  10. I doubt that. The Elbow below the dam is routinely above the recreational guidelines for coliforms
  11. Would require a fair bit of permitting as it's within the watercourse
  12. welcome to RIO..they're bad for being tacky, even when not super warm. I wouldn't go back to them
  13. worried about the 50-100 mm rain forecast for the kananaskis i presume, with a fairly full glenmore res
  14. I don't expect it, but getting it is a nice little perk...I'd still call them in without
  15. call it in... the money you get for reward is worth holding your tongue
  16. real question is, if you followed the creek all the way up, would it be trespassing if you never stepped out of the HWM?
  17. TU-Bow River Chapter, with help from TUC Just want people to know that BRC is not a dead chapter, as sometimes thought

    Wet Wading

I wear the simms sandal, and they're great. Get the occasional rock, but other then that. Really, fished all day on saturday with them and only had to stop once for a big rock that got in. Small pebbles will self-extract. They're pretty blatantly ripping off the Keen sandal, but thats not a bad thing for fit and function. or go to the riprap shoe (sandal that has all the holes meshed out), but i feel this may have more gravel issues
  19. we need a sustained week of like 10-12 degree weather. Or transalta to F up and send cold water down like they did in 2012. Rain pulses through pretty quick (usually a day from Calgary to Carseland). Water was at 21 at Carseland on the 2nd according to the chart (seems that the temp gauge is no longer working?) despite the big hail event last week.
  20. And yet still seeing lots of grip n grins on FB and Instagram. Sigh

    Pond Trout

    that mullet though
  22. water was again over 20 C at Carseland last night. Apparently 17C was the kicker on the Bow due to whitefish....

    Caddis Pig

    1, plus 700 dace?
  24. But there is no way to tell if these are due to a presumed lack of days in these days, or that they're already booked up.. is that 1 in October due to a presumed less slots, or did someone decide to take 8 friends out that day? They should really have a table for each classified area indicating a total number of days originally available, remaining and booked. Would be extremely simple to produce. As mentioned above, i have no idea if there was days in July and we were just too slow, or if there was no days available to us in the first place?
  25. i assume they went on sale the first day you could buy a license... since there is no requirement to provide ID, i really do wonder how many of those non-guided days were bought by real people..There is zero information how many days are provided as available per week, or at least that i can find. Did they distribute the days such that the 'better' weeks have more days available, or did they pretty much push all the days to when the guides are off of it? Shady as F
