To confirm, are they not simply following the mandate of TU, which is to protect fish and fish habitat?

Interesting Prototype From Outcast "the Striker"

frick I want those oar locks for my scadden... -
Guess I'm a cynic, but is anyone not just bored of the same repeat show? It's literally been the exact same thing for the past ~10 years. I guess it's good that we get to get out of the cold to talk shop, but man there hasn't been a single thing to really motivate me to go to the show other then seeing some folks from town I haven't had a chance to catch up with.

lol..the ones that are at or above the 30" mark.. the last 5 photos

I keep it really simple. One guide pack of red-gammies. Done

Marc, just throw a chubby at them..if they don't eat it dead drift, skate it. If they don't eat it, then throw a large streamer...if they don't eat that, they're gonna have left anyway! Pretty well the way I fished all summer on the Bow. Kept me very light! Plus keeps all those pesky little 16" off the line

Fly Pattern Dilemma - Nicaragua

Pretty much all of those are all going to eat baitfish, of different sizes and colors. Easy to get a ton of baitfish style bugs, into a small ziplock bag and let air out. Takes near zero space. Go talk to Adam at CPs for Roosters, he's been doing it for as long/longer as the 'running down the man' video. Pretty well everything they'll eat, is what the tarpon/snook/jacks will eat. Don't bring freshwater lines. They'll wilt in the heat and not cast well at all. Need some stiffness to deal with the heat if you want to be able to shoot any distance. -
Well, at least when they do a temporary closure, they'll think twice about how they do it. Last years 'open for fishing' map was pretty well an outline of pure strain westslopes.
-
negative, just threatened under COSEWIC, not SARA listed I'm all for not fishing in the headwaters where there are pure strain.. hopefully this can push some meaningful enforcement onto the ATV users as well.. Considering they're looking at ones that are >99% pure, I doubt 0.01% of the anglers in AB have even caught one.

Pelicans And Their Natural Predators
bcubed replied to fishinhogdaddy's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Well, technically: "The American white pelican is protected by the provincial Wildlife Act and it is illegal to kill or harass individuals or disturb their nests at any time of the year." I'd suggest trying passive measures prior to going on the offensive. Maybe delay the stocking till after the typical migration period. -
lololol.... and yet, how many do?

Pretty well all my big bugs (steelhead tubes) go in small plastic bags that I can seal tight. Usually can get 6 or so in a bag. Sealing tight with removing the air keeps them in good shape, regardless if I cram them into my waders. Same idea as the leader wallet. Since they're tubes, don't have to worry about the hook wrecking the bag, or rusting out. Typically I carry a dozen of these bags, inside a small fly box to stop me from losing them. Has completely changed how I carry bugs. Way less hassle. Bag of flies, bag of hooks and 15lb maxima in my wader pockets. Extra stuff stay in my bag or backpack For pike, they all just get hucked into a large compartment box that fits in my sling.

33000...that's a lot of additional aeration time and trophy trout. -
Dog Owners Opinion

I just figured Shamus constantly was upgrading your truck while you're at work. We recently got a rescue mutt (shes just over a year now), and would never look at going purebred again. She's awesome. A lot of work, but worth it all. Work in = work out -
I guess I should have put a disclaimer, they're heavy, and not great for hiking, but they are by far the best boots I've had for grip. above and beyond others
-
Gotta say, I have the Patagonia predecessor to the foot tractors, and they only come out at very specific times (e.g., the Thompson). They are way too heavy to hike with daily, and also brutal for walking on wet grass or, even worse, on a stripped log. I am on my third pair of the Guide Boots from Simms.. I'll stick with them.

Pretty good report, especially if you know who Bob Hooton is, and the history he has in the fisheries management.

Getting An Aluminum Boat Repainted

Gotta ask, why do you want that boat repainted. It's probably the prettiest boat on the whole river.. -
Calgary Floods And Fishing A Look Back
bcubed replied to bigfry's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Also, the dries this year on the Bow sucked. Get the occasional fish, but the fish definitely could careless about them. Likely cause they're destroying all kinds of nymphs and baitfish, as they were all huge -
Calgary Floods And Fishing A Look Back

I think if you ask around, there is certainly bigger fish around now. But I also feel we lost a class of fish. There sure aren't many 16-18" around right now. -
Thinking Of Buying A Drift Boat To Rent Out.

I was asked to rent mine out, but I was pretty worried that he'd either sink it and kill himself, or I'd get a boat back that had been beaten to hell... No thanks -
Thinking Of Buying A Drift Boat To Rent Out.

Darrin, it's been done. Real question is ability to launch out of glenmore now that it's not a pad all the way to the river. Dave, I don't think many rentals happen with the companies that have tried
