  1. speedy recovery Jay... that sux. i hope your pictures help in finding the jerks.
  2. shhhh, i hadnt mentioned the sarong summer fishing to them... and nick, great idea, there's got to be a way to attach the ipod and not get it wet or tangled i'm looking forward to the challenge
  3. interesting thought on the 6pc. i havent seen too many and i havent had a chance to cast one. other than breaking down to a handful of toothpicks, is there a significant difference in performance?
  4. welcome... if you are interested in learning about fly fishing and fly tying, the Hook and Hackle club is having an open house Feb 24. www.hookandhackleclub.org
  5. does price really matter? i'd still pay a little bit more for the 4pc just for the convenience of the bush i fish through. personally, if there were 2 rods, exactly the same except 2 vs. 4 and unless the 2pc was a some ridculously silly amount less, which it wouldnt be... i'd pay for the 4pc. so what's the limit
  6. awww, doc you are always lovely interesting opinions on 2pc vs. 3/4
  7. i suppose that could work, but i wet wade in the summer. i can't claim i'm washing the inside of anything without someone giving me a sideways look, nodding and walking away slowly
  8. just a general question to all you lovelies out there. most of us have more than one rod some of you more than you can count. i'm curious as to which rod configuration works best in your not so humble personal opinions i like my 2pc for lakes, slap it together, throw it on the boat and go. space in the truck isnt a concern with the longer tube but for small rivers, back packing and manuvering through brush i prefer my 4pc, i can break it down, wander through the scrub and not worry about snagging my tip on a branch or tree that jumps out and tries to bite me while minding my own business.
  9. great video, watched it last night.
  10. personally, i find falling in the river a few times a year keeps the dust down and works perfectly well for rod cleaning... there has to be some purpose to my little swimming adventures...
  11. ok, this may be a stupid question of sorts... depending on the year, i fish any where from 30 - 100 days. on a bad day i catch 1-10, on a decent day 11-20. and on the rare occation more than 20. i try to keep the fish in the water, i try not to handle the body in anyway, mostly i dont like the smell of fish slime - think pike... ick. i have noticed most of my hooks are in the side of the mouth and rarely on the top, my apologize to the white fish i snagged in the tail. i have also picked up the habit of looking at where the eyes are pointing and say i've noticed anything other than down. usually i can see my fish dart away. i'll fish the same area or move down the river a bit or if i'm on a lake, i dont move around a lot. i have never noticed that i have 'killed' a fish. i haven't seen on float by tits up on a lake or wash up on the bank of the stream. i tend to fish small streams maybe at most 10 ft across usually less, i'd think i'd notice a lifeless fish. so how can i tell if i have accidentally killed one, or should i just assume that it croked some time after i left the general area? ok, i know my pic shows me holding a fish, it was at the request of the guide i was with... he came up, pic taken and went back. all the time i was concerned about how long he was out of the water... seconds at most. then we put him in the net, back in to the current for a min and then let him go. he also shot back out to the middle of the river
  12. i have to agree. it is one of the best movies out there. i get the breast thing birchy, just kind of figured it as a chick flick... excellent book btw ... if you can find the original
  13. good thing the league hasnt strated yet sundance... do you have open water on the lake?
  14. if you feel like climbing cliff and rock walls, i've got some beauty spots to talk you ralf
  15. i never thought i'd see grown men making Princess Bride referrences have fun storming the castle
  16. i guess you could fly fish for perch at the lake... but since they are so tiny... point match would be 4 perch = 1 trout point. they're 1/4 fish
  17. in case kerry didnt mention it, i will offer my services here in calgary as well. nice meeting you. i am very interested in the project
  18. how else did i know who you were without meeting you before??? lol
  19. one fish = one point. what is there to argue about? your partner is there to verify that you actually caught the fish. and if you dont like fishing "together" fish aways apart so you dont have to talk... just see the fish. most of us know of the others here anyway. learn, fish, enjoy
  20. i'm all for name tags, most i knew by real names only. i think the name tags should have both handles on it. awesome breakfast and fantastic coffee. nice seeing everyone again. thanks for the hospitality rick
  21. im in i need to be out on the river more anyway... got a new unpaid job that requires me to fish... but i need someone to drag my sorry arse out there. let me know when you figure it out
