  1. that's awesome. hell of day and hell of a fish
  2. i'd like to see the reward just for showing up and putting out the effort... besides, how else am i going to get a point? i have to hope my partner sux as bad as i do. hummm, soooo i guess i'm not getting any points. ya'll better teach me how to spey cast then or nymph or something.
  3. i found a soft sided gear/tackle box with 2 levels lots of room at the fly shop in blairmore a few years ago. it was actually meant as a bass gear bag but i use the big box for hanging strung lures for my dubbing packages.
  4. i still dont think there are fish in that damn river.... it's all photoshop i tell you
  5. doesnt duct tape fix everything
  6. 11 out of 16 right, helps to have lived in Van in a past life
  7. good reminder, thanks Lynn. sady many people forget that their furry friends still have 'wild' stomachs and last time i checked, Canines can't cook. even my cat only gets raw meat as a treat now and then
  8. im not a big fan of the run of the mill beer. i will however go out of my way to try interesting and different beers from around the world if you wouldnt mind (if the mods let you) put your tasting notices up a little sooner, that would be great because i would really like to come and try one out. sadly i dont get to read the forum until i get home
  9. it's a nice rod, you will like it. i have no issues with both of us using it. honestly, everyone is going to out fish me on the bow anyway. i dont fish the bow more than 5 times a year and have caught a total of 15 fish in the past 7 years out of the bow, most of them have been out of a drift boat. walking i have i think i have caught 3. i want to learn to fish this rod and i want to learn to fish the Bow.
  10. hummm, i dont remember a rod length rule... guess i have to go back and read again i was planning on using my new Amundson 1134 spey/switch. i am no pro with a switch and there is no advantage to me using an 11 ft rod over a 9ft rod, mostly because i am still learning the casts and cannot get a decent drift with it yet, never mind casting more than the 42 foot line and leader that i have to cast in the first place. And that is why i wanted to use it. i figured if i used it once a week i would get an opportunity to practice with it.
  11. awww cute cat i wish i could remember my photobucket password
  12. your first sentance explains why he won't change. if the person is arrogant enough not to understand why someone was point out what a disservice he was doing to the poor fish, he will read the article and think 'yeah... i agree, those darned jerks mishandling fish...' and have no idea that he is one of those people. ignorance and idiocy are difficult to correct with hinting. and if he didnt get it when it was pointed out to him, the light bulb isnt going to come on just becausesome one tried to flick the switch when the brain isnt connected good luck tho
  13. ick, i'm so glad that everything was 50%/50% with my ex in the divorce, split the house and went our own ways. i just used divorce online.ca and had him served while we were doing the house stuff with the real estate lawyer. it was pretty easy. they even have the separation agreement documents, which really is what covers all the who gets what and entitled to pensions, investments, kids, blah, blah blah...
  14. :$*%&: it is the most important part of step 4... limp grip and results in poor sensitivity and an under powered action causing improper flexation of the rod thus equalling inadquet range and a really bad delivery why waste the time and the effort on limp, firm is best when handling anyone's rod
  15. step one, take stiff but flexi pole and run some string run through it step 2 next - tie a curved pointy thing that has fur, feathers or some such stuff stuck to it on to the end of the string. step 3 add, lead weights close to the point thing to make it sink faster and a brightly coloured thingy to the other end to make it float remember testicles, specticles, wallet and watch - go to fast flowing water thing, that flows through town, we call it the bow in case you forgot, otherwise step 5 cannot occur step 4 hold your rod firmly and fling the string, floaty thing, weights and cruved point object at the water and wait patiently for a fish to mistake the pointy thing with fur/feathers etc for a food item step 5 if all goes well the fish will impale itself in the mouth. this is now cause for excitement!! if nothing happens - repeat step 4 until step 5 happens plastic bags will give head shakes, rocks and trees dont. no need for excitement - repeat step 4 hooking grass, dogs, kids, trees, shopping carts, birds, bats, golf balls, skeletal remains or beavers does not count, skip to step 6 and - repeat step 4 if fish mistakes the floaty thing as the point thing, the fish is defective and you didnt want it anyway - repeat step 4, at this point you may add pointy thing to floaty thing to try to out smart the defective fish - repeat step 4, if you take a friend and get tangled in his string, skip to step 6 and then - repeat step 4 step 4.1 - nothing is happening... change type of pointy thing - repeat step 4 step 4.2 - still nothing... add more weight - repeat step 4 step 4.3 - zzzzz... take off weight - repeat step 4 step 4.4 - really?!? still nothing - change placement of floaty thing - repeat step 4 step 4.5 - getting frustated - rather than change type of pointy thing, add another one - repeat step 4 step 4.6 - take a moment to breath - repeat step 4 step 4.7 - wind gust of 90k, string goes in opposite direction while flinging, hooking yourself - this does not count - skip to step 6 and repeat step 4 step 4.8 - throw stick thing in to the bush behind you, jump up and down, yell at friend - repeat step 4 step 4.9 - hummm, still nothing, eh? take all the stuff you tied to your string off replace with different a heavier string attatchment and a heavier pointy thing (no floaty thing) or add only a pointy thing that floats - repeat step 4 Step 6 - reel fish in, release and repeat step 4 or realize why its been so long and go home
  16. looking forward to it
  17. i heard a rumour today that this got cancelled due to date conflicts. please advise.
  18. perhaps i should add a movie camera to my fishing gear... some days i see more than my fair share of these idiots in forestry reserve area driving through the rivers next to the bridge
  19. wow... the stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me. or perhaps the direct translation of elk to language A back to english ends up being unicorn :/
  20. i've only caught grayling in the few lakes they are stocked outside of calgary on cronimides and micro leeches. unless someone has fished the little smoky, try a google search but standard trout fair should do it for you
  21. i hear the climate in venice this time of year is lovely and much nicer than uranus
  22. last summer i caught nice filet of brook trout, gutted and partially de-boned, 'aging' at the bottom of a pool and a few years ago found a burbot in the bow, washed up on the rocks. i guess i didnt catch that one, but i thought it strange anyway
  23. i should have my amundson 1134 tomorrow. i have sorted out my line issues and will be set up this weekend. if you want to give it a try, let me know. but more than anything else, before you decide to buy, go to fish tales, south bow and every other fly shop in town and try them all. see what fits you and your cast and your comfort. then decide what works for one person may not work for you.
  24. very cool, welcome
