  1. fishing is better than sex only because i'm more likely to go fishing on a regular basis than have sex... fishing at least takes the shine off
  2. priceless. of course i am of the mind, if you earned the money, you get to spend it... as long as the joint bills, like the mortgage, cable, property taxes are paid. i dont want to be fiancing your ass cause you spent your half of the bills on fishing gear or you could always find a girl in to fly fishing with a competitive nature, who spends most of her money on fly fishing stuff and see who ends up with the biggest pile of gear. i need a new waste pack, 3 wt reel, new 3 & 5 wt line, a new 8wt saltwater rod with reel and line this season. but my cat doesnt care as long as he gets to play in the bag i bring the stuff home in.
  3. brian, im fishing tomorrow, all should be good. the weather is better, except for the lake under my truck on the street. no more bitchies. lol
  4. i'll be tying again with hook and hackle. both saturday and sunday.
  5. har har, no silly boys... i'm bitchy because i havent been fishing. geez... that and the weather. once i'm fishing in a tropical climate in my bikini and sarong. i'm all smiles and a happy, happy girl. and when im happy... it's all good. but thanks Rick
  6. i am all for the BART diet. i had my great dane/sheppard on it for years. i got him when he was about 2 from the SPCA, the poor thing had been on regular dry dog food. his skin was bad, his hair was a mess. he just did not digest bagged dog food. seriously, if one thinks about it for a moment, commercial dog food has only been around for the las 50 years give or take. before that, dogs previously being wild animals, ate raw meat, bones, misc tissue etc. 50 years is too short of a time period for evolution to kick in and provide a different set of enzyms needed to digest cooked food and processed crap. no animal should be fed cooked bones or other cooked 'people' food of any sort, other than grains. their digestive systems are not set up for cooked food. they lack the enzyms to breakdown the cooked bones. they are carnivores for god sakes with no apposible thumbs, dogs cant cook. you dont see wolves hanging out at a Keg for leftovers or hienas bbqing on the savanha, rarely is there anything left, including bones and teeth. unfortunately cooking bones causes them to become weak and brittle sharp spikes that poke into soft tissues and cause all sorts of problems. peritonitis is the biggest concern, and once there is a systematic infection - sepsis, there is usually very little vets can do. i fed my dog a full raw chicken carcass (bones and all), a cup of brown rice, raw broccoli, carrots or green beans every day. his skin got better, he stopped chewing himself, his hair grew out, no more bald patches. he also liked grapes as a treat - not too many because of the sugar. he was a happier dog and the pooper scooper was happier too. it really is sad that some dogs managed to get there mouths around cooked bones, and sometimes it happens by accident. i ended up having to move the garbage can to a locked facility so my boy wouldnt go dumpster diving. we had a bone scare as well, he was at the vet for a few days with IVs and all sorts of meds. $2000, i learned about why bones are so bad. took a stupid manuver on my part but in the end he was a healthier dog for the rest of his life. although none too happy about being banned from the garbage
  7. kitty litter darren?!? seriously is that really a problem? put my right leg through one of those glass doors at highschool with the wire mesh in them. that wasnt the painful part. i was in semi-shock trying not to bleed out all over the floor at the time. the painful part was in the ER at the hospital when the old goat of a doctor unwraped my leg, opened my calf like a book and started poking it with his finger. he then had the nerve to ask if it hurt. no *hit sherlock, i have just filetted my leg to the bone and you are poking it. pretty good guess that it hurts. of course i could not remember if had had breakfast that morning so i wasnt able to have any pain killers until surgery time. 120 or so stitches and staples later. then they gave me demerol. i was happy after that
  8. i have to throw in with trailhead... also the humble fisherman - jay always has good stuff going on. sometimes i catch the lady who travels to all the really cool places, just cant remember the name of the show.
  9. well i cant be bothered to read 32 pages of stuff. so i'm just going to interject non-relevant about nothing in particular. i'm annoyed with the weather. i dont have a place to tie because we are attempting to get the house organized to sell and i have to keep my crap clean, which is impossible to do with feathers and fur. my cat is bombarding me while i'm typing. i know i havent been around for a bit... like 6 months. i miss everyone. just been stupid busy at work... damn weather. im bitchy and crabby. i want to go fishing. anyone have a week off in february and have cash to travel??? i'd like to take off to cuba for a week on a last minute special but it sux going alone. i just want to get the hell out of here and do some fishing. on the other hand i am looking forward to the fly fish expo. and i heard the testosterone level was getting a bit high around here so i thought i would come back to entertain ya'll a little.
  10. casting what seemed to be a wet sock on my pike rig -a really soft flex 8 wt with an attitude and mind of its own. the wind picked up and changed directions just as the fly was going forward, somehow it made an abrupt left hand 90 degree turn and rung one off my back/neck. nearly knocked me out. thankfully it was not barbed and hit me in just the right way that it only made me leak a little bit. no major damage and popped right out. i've bled more from deer flies on the river the other time was in the bottom of my ear lobe, i have no idea how i did it
  11. difficult access, long shallow runs with some really fast water through some of the canyons, i have had some luck up stream in k country though, but it did require some what of a hike and a lot of effort for a few small fish. it is a freestone creek very much vulnerable to snow pack, drought and percipitation. often it gets blown out in the spring, scouring away a lot of plant life, thus the bug life is a little slower to come back, in gerneral the stream is not stable enough. although the fish are pretty hardy but there seems to be fewer than the other rivers in the area. for sure there are some great gems to be found, if you put in the effort.
  12. no golden trout were stocked in the 'pond' from everything that i have read while researching the subject. if there had been they would have made their way down the elbow and in to the resevoir after the flood. feeling adventurous, try the hike up to south fork or baranby or be lazy - like me, and do the heli trip to michelle. there used to be a horse trail to coral but i seem to remember it has been closed and it is hike in only now.
  13. that is the strangest thing i've heard in awhile. with the win # on the license who cares...not like either is photo id. mine is always in the truck but the last thing i want to do is trek back for it. i guess i'll ask the next CO i run into
  14. even if we did, this universe still has the big pile of crap i left on my desk in the other one... damn i hoped it be sucked into the big black hole. nothing changed, or the more things change the more they stay the same. it really matters very little. LF, i think we have the same bear
  15. at least you got the chance to pick it up and take it with you the next time around. we all make mistakes. but it is the jerks and ignorant a$$es who make a point of choosing to leave their garbage behind for everyone else.
  16. that's some sure SEXY water.
  17. i need a week of unemployment like that. nice fish
  18. SWEET FISH!!!! nice catch both of you.
  19. just me and my 98 chev blazer with +/- 250,000k on it. goes everywhere i want it to. 55L tank gets about 425km - 450km Hwy at an average of 130k/hr. i'd probably get better mileage if i could keep the foot of the floor boards. any of you who has fished with me or has seen the back of my truck know i haul 1/2 my life around in it. and when camping it gets used for sleeping too. has lots of cargo room but only seats 5, comfortably 4.
  20. i really dont understand why people cant pick up their own junk. although they could be the kind of people who live in 18inches of junk all over their house too but come on, i dont have to see the inside of their homes. i was fishing down in the carbondale area, climbed down a ridge and there were a 1/2 doz glass beer bottles on the rocks, lunch wrapers, pop cans and cigarette butts. obviously they didnt carry it all down with out bag, how hard is it to put it all back in the back and take it back up the hill. i smoke when i fish and butts go in my vest pocket.
  21. i have nothing better to do... might as well have an end of the world party. i'm glad i left that big pile of crap on my desk to do tomorrow
  22. nice to see you are dealing with fishtales. i hate ordering things online. it is nice to have a local contact.
  23. i'm in. i'll send off an email.
  24. i could ask at the Hook and Hackle fall fish out in a few weeks if anyone would be interested in such an event. we did some fundrasing for stream watch last season.
  25. i spread the wealth (or lack there of) around and go pretty much everywhere except the fishing hole and hansons and that is only because i am never downtown or in the NE i work across the street from country pleasures, went in today and got a hey, havent seen you in awhile, whatcha been up to so there you go.
