  1. god dont scare me. i took the 16th off of work to fish opening day...
  2. i have to admit the 8wt is a little heavy for flogging for gophers. but i do have an Amundson 3wt midge that might do the trick... you let me know and we can work something out
  3. funny how facebook pops up with things and reminded me to say happy birthday
  4. A soldier ran up to a nun. Out of breath he asked, "Please, may I hide under your habit? I'll explain later." The nun agreed. A moment later two Military Police ran up and asked, "Sister, have you seen a soldier?" The nun replied, "He went that way." After the MPs ran off, the soldier crawled out from under her habit and said, "I can't thank you enough Sister. You see, I don't want to go to Afghanistan." The nun said, "I understand completely." The soldier added, "I hope I'm not rude, but you have a great pair of legs!" The nun replied, "If you'd looked a little higher, you'd have seen a great pair of balls....I don't want to go to Afghanistan, either."
  5. you single and wanna go fishing some time???
  6. you probably didnt have a concensus because neither picture is particularly steller, just ordinary fish pictures. but to choose between the 2 i have to pick profile only because if it is to be representing the ultimate trout then i dont want to see buddy's hands
  7. Dougc just put a couple up in the trading post
  8. you're just showing off your truck again
  9. happy birthday may we fish soon
  10. one of the co's in the castle area said that as long as the trailer was moved a couple of feet in either direction once every couple of weeks there wasnt anything they could do about it
  11. i wish all the guys i fly fished with looked like Brad Pitt... but i'd settle for robert redford
  12. he said pumping... LOL in all seriousness, if you just want to get out 20 ft from shore and you dont need to carry a whole pile of crap with you, the Uboat like the Fish Cat4 will do just fine. inflate in less than 5 min with a foot pump and like 30 seconds with an electric. it will take longer to put on your waders than get the fish cat together and ready to go. it is really durable considering my truck lost a wing to it in a fair fight... if you want to drift the bow... get a friend with a drift boat
  13. i wonder if i can make a bread ball fly?!? fines for what? harassing the wild life? not like gophers are endangered. really, fishing for them beats putting nitrogen down the hole and lighting it on fire only to watch flaming gophers run around the field lighting the grass on fire... (airdrie)

  15. making pies, that cuts into the fishing time.. likewise for dishes, laundry and mowing the lawn. i need a maid and a lawn boy
  16. thanks for the link Chris funny, i work for RBC and had not heard about this charity project.
  17. "Fly fishing is single malt scotch, Cuban cigars and the graceful, romantic arc of the cast." AMEN i am slightly annoyed with "surprisingly close to Canada's major cities. For instance, two highly regarded fly fishing guides are based less than two hours from Toronto: Grand River and Niagara River." 2 hours... really?!? how about 10 min out my back door running through the middle of the dang city of 1 million+ people but of course toronto is the centre of the universe so 2 hours is better than 36 - 40 hour drive from toronto
  18. i have a fish cat 4. pros - light, no assembly required - just pump it up with a foot pump in minutes, easy to hike in to hard to reach lakes, comfortable all day, small - fits in the back of blazer, great for small lakes/potholes/ponds, pull fish right into your knees with out a net and they are still in the water, have found a scotty set up for rod holder, nose of the fish cat is under water so if you have a dry sack you can keep your food and drinks cold without using a cooler cons - do not use on river, kicking long distances on lakes sux, only has 2 pockets so you cant take a lot, no place for an anchor so you get blown around and drift a bit if you dont kick to try to stay in place, your butt is still sort of in the water, if you use the drink holder use the side opposite of your cast otherwise you will wrap you line around the bottle i have used my friend's pontoon pros - wear shorts and runners all day and stay dry, lots of room for boxes/gear/coolers/gadgets, manuver by rowing/kicking/electric motor, can use on river for drift, able to use an anchor, a lot faster to get around a big lake with little effort cons - tend to be heavy and cumbersome especially when dragging it up to bear pond - that sucked, depending on the vehicle you may have to take it apart for space, more room usually means more crap, generally need to use a net because you need to reach, better to have an electric pump because foot or hand pump takes more time, i kept getting line wrapped around oar locks i think my fish cat cost 160, not sure what the price is now. i have had it for 5 years, dragged it across rocks, sand, grass. i've snagged it with hooks and it actually took the mirror off my truck in a high wind with no damage to the fish cat. great quality, no issues, no leaks, no damage. i would have to ask myself why most pontoons are 700 - 1500 new depending on size etc and what kind of quality you would be getting for 250 for a new no-name one.
  19. i just got a new camera so if i can get some one to film. i think i will make a mocumentary just for giggles
  20. take it to Canadian Tire and get someone to check it with a multimeter or your friendly back yard mechanic or electrician
  21. gee whiz, the one night this week i actually have plans... and my weekend is free. pooh... oh well
  22. i need one of those for the pontoon races winner gets a case of Lucky
  23. Jack - civilized people call them Richard Ground Squirls, Albertans just call them gophers, if you can get one to hold on long enough to net them, there is no catch limit and the tails are still worth something to someone somewhere. probably a fly fisherman looking for different materials. but i dont think gopher hair floats. i would use it as a dubbing for a cadis pupa perhaps Chiasson - if you have a camcorder - i'm your girl Avalanche - i moved to Ogden last August and didnt have much time before it got cold to do a lot of fishing around here. so when i do fish it is around Carburn,. if you feel like showing me the ropes, please do, i'd love to get out and fish around here. And i'm pretty sure they were thinking, what the hell is that crazy chick doing?? I think the White Jamaican was the guy driving the white truck staring intently at me trying to figure out what i was doing. the girl crossing the field gave me a wide berth and the guy at the house that backs on to the field came out side, looked at me and then turned around and went back. 5 min later, he, the neighbour and a guy in the next place over were out on their decks watching me Peter - with the rate of inflation i think $0.25 is the going rate Iasgair - i had the same reaction. you dont need a Demo, come out and join me, see if we can get people to stop i did have a guy at the bus stop ask me if i caught anything, when i said yes, his face was priceless.. on the grass???? i said, yes - gophers and kept on going. he looked so confused
