Vet Recommendations South Calgary

I'm wondering if you're at Bow Bottom. Always feel like we're getting overcharged and oversold -
Yes it's open
-
Pretty sure it would be me all alone in about a month

I was too slow to buy the domain, otherwise I'd be running this place with an iron fist! Mention steelhead, stoneflies or cake and insta-ban

Come on Marc. Backing into a river is doing a hell of a lot less impact than driving up a river. Just as fording a creek is ok, but ripping up it isn't..

Beaver Ponds, Warm Water And Reviving Fish

20 degrees. Ya they can 'survive' at higher temps, but think about what happens to them while you're reeling them in. Hardly an ideal situation to be going through when you're already oxygen deprived. -
Check with country pleasures, they have had them in the past. Personally I wear the sandal and like it. Rocks suck when they get in but I found it more comfy

Beaver Ponds, Warm Water And Reviving Fish

All those central creeks need to be watched closely. The temp is getting way up there and most guys aren't thinking about it. If it's warm, go look for pike or goldeye. Hopefully the opening on the 16th will provide a bit more water for everyone to play in -
Guess I can't complain about TFOs replacement policy, but you sure do end up using it. I've broken a lot (read all of my rods at least once), but when I had TFOs they'd break constantly.

I've seen numerous guys ripping up the river there, as well as people loading trucks with rocks for their garden... Not sure what the city expected when there is free access along a gravel bar. Feels like bar fishing out west

just happy that it'll spread some pressure.

A couple years ago we had a pretty similar runoff. Typically it's rain that gives us the biggest push, not just snow melt. 2005 and 2013 were later in June. Looks like most of the snow is gone according to the chars. If we don't get any huge rain we'll likely have an abbreviated runoff

? No Action On A Stone Fly Hatch ?

I'd say it's more about flows then anything. It was fishing as good as it gets in early April, until that first big flow change hit. Since then, it's been increasing, however hardly consistenly. rare to see a spring with this much bouncing in flows. Probably going to be our future in the spring as Transalta worries about flow/flood management with the city breathing down their neck. Fish crave consistency. Hope we get it post runoff -
We actually aren't that low for snow, and are very similar in conditions to what preceded the 2005 floods. It's all about rain...

Crossing The Border Into Montana

I wouldn't be worried about already tied flies. Biggest concern would be an interested border agent who wants to talk fishing for too long. -

You should always wash your boat before leaving the country. Yes they will be picky about mud on it (and rightfully so). Really, you should wash it after fishing at any time and allow it to dry. Not a huge deal if it's limited to one waterbody, but if you're fishing more than one, you should be washing it and letting dry between. I never once had them look at flies or anything. Have never even been asked if I'm bringing my own fishing equipment or not. Not sure about fly tying equipment, but again, have never even been asked. I wouldn't bring anything particularly special, just incase they do decide they want to keep it. -
Bump. Please come out and help!

You mean, like the fact that the rivs now at 140 from 115 yesterday?

Should probably support a fly shop and not a big box store if you're looking for good advice...

I'm thinking a come-along, and ive got my self a new boat...marine salvage laws...right?

Take their boat license number down. I don't think many realize that you can't act like a douche legally using your boat. Did anyone realize there is a 10 kph speed limit when within 30m from the bank? How bout Careless Operation. Take photos, report them to the RCMP. Done deal.

Didn't see this posted yet, so figured I should share it. If you utilize the boat launch provided by TU-BRC at Legacy (or the river in general) please consider giving back to the area. https://www.facebook.com/events/1597983493777067/ We invite you to join the Trout Unlimited Canada - Bow River Chapter for a Tree Wrapping and Clean Up Day at Legacy Island on Sunday May 24, 2015 from 10AM to 4PM. While the boat launch at Legacy Island was cleaned up following the 2013 flood, there is still significant debris and garbage scattered around the island. In addition, numerous trees on the island either require new wrapping or require repair to old wrapping - an initial survey of the island indicates approximately 70 trees require wrapping. Wrapping mature trees such as the Cottonwoods along the Bow River with a metal wire protects them from beaver damage and downing which in some areas has devastated riparian vegetation along the Bow River. This ...is an easy and effective method to protect our mature trees in the riparian area which are essential to bank stabilization and contribute to a healthy ecosystem. More details will be circulated the week of May 17, 2015. Please come donate a few hours of your time, bring a friend and your work gloves. Your support is appreciated. Legacy Island Tree Wrap & Clean-up Day Legacy Island on Sunday May 24, 2015, 10 AM to 4PM. Bring hand and eye protection (work gloves, safety glasses preferred) Wear appropriate clothing and footwear Refreshments & BBQ to finish up the day
