  1. They need to open retention for the bulls in the K lake, the vast majority of those fish are stunted around 26-28." A one fish tag system would be good for a few years. Mind you I'm not a bio just my uneducated views from fishing there.
  2. Bro, it's much easier to remove your Reg #s off the bow rather than taking you boat off the Bow

    Waders

I get on the water 100+ days a year, it doesn't matter which brand or dollars spent waders start leaking on me in the start of the second season. I'm a real fan of the Reddington pant waders for the cost and comfort
  4. I caught a large one last year one the Dog Pound
  5. By the time the loop is done don't you find there are so many issues with the lines that they are junk anyways, or are you having loops break?
  6. I'm all for them but until this weeks announcement I've felt most of the pot stocks have been dramatically overpriced.
  7. Sweet, I thought things were changing, I should have known better. The channel always had enough water the 300+ times I've run it. I guess planning and building the channel to have enough flow is to difficult.
  8. Am I missing something here, are they leaving the Baker Park and Shouldice Park as hand use launches only???? there are boat launches there now with just gates in the way. According to the map these have the ICONS for hand use.
  9. Any idea when the locks will be removed from the North boat launches
  10. Once anglers start to realise the fishing options these little boats open the doors too, we'll see a bunch more. I'm going to run mine right up to elbow falls. Bigfry, once mine is running we'll get out for a spin..... maybe on Stauffer.
  11. I can't paste the link for some reason but get the "How to row a drift boat" DVD from Hyde's webstore. It's actually pretty decent and a good prep for getting on the water.
  12. Not I, That said with all the jet-hate here I won't mention when I fire her up.
  13. I'm happy to see a survey. Years ago to be heard you'd have to drive across the province. Does it need work, sure but who doesn't. My thoughts after the survey; I'd like to see the Bow with a half year closure, BUT with the populace we have there must be the proverbial village bicycle. That's the Bow, and I hate to say it. The other option is the spring creeks in central AB get massacred for 2 months prior to Bow opener. The people that manage our waters have a very difficult job and they need to provide an option for recreational use all year round. I don't like it but it is a lowest common denominator kind of thing. The crazy thing is the vast majority of those asking for seasonal closures fish the Bow nonstop. 90% of the fish are caught by 10% of the anglers, and in this case the adage applies. Why do we need to wait for the gov't to make it law before we ourselves do what we are asking for? Couldn't we all self impose our own closure for the betterment of the fish?
  14. Then I don't care, all my material goods are just that material goods and they can be replaced. My only concern is my wife and son.
  15. A Remington 870 doesn't require a monthly monitoring cost.
  16. I wonder if they will repopulate with rainbows, and browns or take this opportunity to stock cutties
  17. I wish there were more that thought the way you do, #thehuntforreddoctober was alive and kicking in Alberta if you utilized IG as an indicator of on water behaviour.
  18. I asked him to meet me to look for some of his gear, I'm going to be very obtuse, directionally impaired and generally a difficult guy to deal with. Hopefully he considers his time valuable.
  19. I know of a few jet owners that are looking at challenging the bylaw.... perhaps this is one of them looking for a ticket.
  20. When I nymph this is one of my winter go tos for the Bow I have an indi, 5' to a swivel, 3' to splits, 1' to SJW and then 2' to a midge pattern and I dredge the bottom with this rig. I've never had much of an issue hooking bottom, but perhaps that is because I have accepted that as part of the game. It has been a very effective for me. I like having the weight above the light midge and with a long dropper line from the SJW I find the splits and the SJW "anchor" the rig and the midge flutters in the water much more naturally
  21. I'm excited, Stoney and Shouldice...hot dam both are favorite drifts of mine, and like the report said there would be little in the way of opening those gates. My poor drifter didn't get wet this season, with this change I'll be back on the upper city bow.
  22. Gear is made for the average user, 15 days a year 5-7 days. If you fish 150+ days a year you will only get a season and a half from your gear, regardless of the cost. Waders leak, its just a matter of when.
