  1. no but they will out compete the perch for food, in effect culling the perch
  2. on the coast we would use PAM for our rod guide, I don't know if it will have an adverse effect on fly line though. Gloves are for chicks
  3. Marijuana friendly....... you squares make me giggle
  4. it's a Loop Adventure series 13'2" 9wt 3 piece. I have mated it with a Loop Evotech 8/10HD G2. I wish it had the grain weights on it, but I am sure I will have no problem figuring the line requirements from the helpful Spey chuckers here. I got super lucky as I was really thinking I would spend a bundle on this set up, but right now I am into it for just $400. UPS screwed me with a $52.39 "brokerage" fee. I know it isn't ideal but i will be using this bad boy for 9 days of fishing in Costa Rica starting Dec 12..... You can all share the experience via my film.... I know it isn't the same
  5. Well it is a big rod, 9/10 but no reason to not try it out, I am lucky enough to be a self employed carpenter and I am in some serious dead time right now so it shouldn't be a problem
  6. Hey guys so the door bell just rang and what did the UPS driver have for me. I received the 2 rods, both of which came with tubes and socks which I didn't think would happen on the super deal they were being offered for, and 2 t-shirts. Now I just need my line and its time. WOOT PS those of you with 9/10 wt reels for sale might want to PM 420flyfishin, I am fairly confident he needs a reel now.
  7. I think Kelly's stats are with his skates on..... I met him and had some business dealing with him. I am just 6'1" and I tower over Kelly I figure he is 5'8"....... and I think the "average" hieght should be changed to "old man" hieght
  8. You should be able to get them from a the same hatchery that stocks the rainbows
  9. Yes they do but the assistant guide must be under the "umbrella of a licensed guide" that meaning the liability insurance must be covered by the licensed guide and the assistant must operate under the same business name. Who??
  10. i bought mine from Loop via ebay, but according to Loop's sight there are only 2 dealers in Canada. one is in quebec http://www.flyshop.torrent.ca/ and my french sucks so I didn't make it past the first page and the other is http://www.whistlerflyfishing.com/ if you contact Whislter fly fishing be prepared to something that may blow your mind and what you aren't used to in alberta.... unreal customer service you can also purchase from http://www.looptacklestore.com/ I have 2 Scott A2's I really like them, I have a 4 wt and 6 wt but I don't think they are a real bargin compared to some other rods out there. I only bought a scott 6 because i needed a better nymphing rod. i got a wicked deal and I am very happy with my 4. My other rod is a Loop Adventure series spey, but I haven't cast it yet so my opinion would be uninformed at best. I am looking at the Hardy demon 2wts and they are reasonably priced for a very nice casting rod but I am not sure if tehy make a 6 wt.
  11. I agree that all guides should be licensed, but really I am not going to fight for guides that is their responsibility. I am surprised there isn't pressure being applied by established guides, you would think they would like to seperate themselves from the unsavory ON a side note I will be offering my services as a guide, I don't have a drift boat but I can be a gomer and I have almost 1 fairly unproductive season on the bow..... haha
  12. Figured this would be the best place to ask so here it goes. Are guides licensed in Alberta, like other provinces? Is there a provincial guide association? I have some family coming in from over sees next year and they would like to go fishing. I decided what better way to show them a good time then have them guided on the Bow, I started looking into guides and didn't notice any of them advertising that they were licensed. So I did some searching on SRD's website couldn't find any info there either regarding licenses. Can any gomer with a drift boat say he/she is a guide and start dooping potential clients?
  13. Taco to far south for me, you can keep it
  14. I HAD the Garmin 60CX it was really good the software ran great on my PC and used it pretty heavily.... then I lost it DAMN. I am pretty proficent with a compass but there is nothing like having the tracking abilities of the GPS. I found several times after doing a trip review that I could plan better routes next time.
  15. Great video Jay and thanks for an awesome day on the water this week. it was appreciated and Jer and I will do it again anytime you want to.
  16. I would have loved to attend, but my wife had other ideas..... I told her it wasn't fishing it was casting but it was lost in translation. I'll have to get to teh next one. Thank you for the invite toolman
  17. mudflap I will be there from Dec 11-24th I'll find some info and get it to you once I get back.
  18. I hate to drop this news..... but I have it on very good authority that there maybe some ssssshhhhh wait for it..... TIGER trout put in there next year. ...... but remember nothing is ever written in stone so don't crucify me if it doesn't happen. Apperantly they are very angry fish when hooked up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_trout
  19. RDevonshire, you may find this helpful. I did. http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?...amp;#entry64676 in the end I checked out many reels and there are some fine peices of aluminum out there to be had. I would love to get a Loop Opti..... never seen one in person but they look so damn cool. I ended up getting a Loop Evotech 8/10 HD for a crazy deal. I originally budgetted $1500 for my Steelhead spey setup and now I am into it for only $375 for the rod and reel.
  20. Thanks for all the info guys.... I am pretty excited to get this rod in my hands. Damn Loop for dropping the price by $20.00 right after I buy 2......... where's my commision? I'll work for a tshirt
  21. its nonsense to suggest that cops can shoot someone as a alternative to tazing or shooting in a more vital area. Cops are trained for 2 in the chest...... 2 in the chest when an attacker is within 21 feet.. not 1 in the thigh. I would much rather take the chance of death by taser rather then death by 2 at body mass.
  22. Could do but the main purpose is for steelhead
  23. no weapon system works if you don't pull the trigger
  24. I just had to buy the Loop adventure series..... at this price I actually bought 2.. The guys at loop told me they come with the factory warranty. These just got listed and when they started they had 195 now done to 149 get em while they are hot. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=180247606815
  25. What do you guys think of the Loop Adventure Spey Rod 13´2" 3-pc Line #9 as my first spey rod... how do they compare to the TFOs
