  1. My personal favourite dry fly rod for hopper droppers I own is the Sage ZXL 586, nice medium action stick, fairly light and you can find them cheap compared to the current line up.
  2. If you ever choose to unload those rods drop me a line I'll take them, I don't have any 10' RPLs
  3. Good thread guys, I have my first coming Aug 1st. How long until you can drop them in the back pack?
  4. Flysquishy, what's happening bro, you been banging toads on your strip along the cliff? We need to break bread again, maybe this time the dog won't eat your meat...... whoa
  5. I have several 10' sticks, I'm a real fan of them my only concern is throwing a heavy rod all day... if the stick is in the class of a Sage One or other high end stick there may not be an issue of weight. I find I have way more control with a 10' other than shorter sticks
  6. I find I feel out of touch with the river the first few drifts of the season. You can really shorten the learning curve if you go out with a guide for a drift.
  7. watermasters are terrible, save your cash buy a sheet of plywood for your seat and a surveyor raft from canadian tire..... it's equivalent to a water master and $1500 less. Watermasters have no rocker which makes the boats plow through the water not cut through it. There are way better options out there, Watermasters were rad 10 years ago, they haven't stayed with the market
  8. not to happy, I brought my boat into the garage, which is heated this winter so my Zebra mussels wouldn't die..... guess they won't get any of my tourist dollars
  9. Don't limit yourself to a wade and walk, most guides will charge little more to do a drift.
  10. Dang, Dutchie has had a few big ticket items boasted over the last few years
  11. Well said Brent, seriously Browns are much more susceptible to Sapro when stressed, stressed fish may forgo spawning, catching fish stresses them. How hard is it to understand if we give them a break they will benefit?
  12. ACN uses Telus' services for most of their products and Telus uses Bell's services for satellite. Why are you looking into satellite service if you live in Calgary?
  13. Rock solid, Canadian made, on the island where real fishing happens...... but to me they look and feel like my grandfather's reel..... maybe in another 20 years or so I'll start with them
  14. as a guy that fishes the NW this is an awesome change, I get to drift much earlier
  15. People use what they use to fish and target the fish that give them enjoyment. I have specific Sages that I only use for streamer fishing although they are only 3 or 4 wts, a small piece of t-12 (like 12") and you have a very effective sink tip, or just fish a longer leader. You will have to use some common sense as a 3wt isn't throwing a 10" double bunny for bulls, but a size 2 muddler or bugger... no problem. The only limit is your own perceived limitations.
  16. If you want a 3 don't buy a 5, regardless of it being made from glass, grass or graphite. Personally I have a TXL in the 2710. I have never had any issues with back bone and I have landed some serious hogs on it.... 28"-30" bulls. throwing streamers and punching thru wind is a little more difficult because the line doesn't carry much weight.
  17. don't worry guys you won't often see me and my jet on "your" waters.... I like trophies
  18. it seems like I need my bearings done every 6 months..... check em
  19. no, I'm not from edmonton and I'll never fish that pot hole of trash fish you call beaver
  20. well Don, that seems to be a loaded question, the trolling speed would totally depend on what i'm fishing. For example if I was fishing for larger rainbows chasing salmon fry, I want to run around 5 knots. But if I'm fishing waters like Stauffer, I think the best bet would be to back troll down stream, that way you can hit all the holding water. That said, I think trolling is for those who can't cast.
  21. man this video really get me going. I hope to have a 9-12' aluminium jet by this time next year..... with 200 HP. I think one of these would easily get up Stauffer.
