Fishteck It depends on what side you access it from. From the north yes. From the south no and the problem is with the tenant on the land to the south who thinks its ok to let his hell hound threaten people who are on crown land. The insane thing Is these dogs both have shock collars and the land owner chooses to sit and watch while his dog holds a person in their place in the river for a few minutes and then he calls them back. Its totally disgusting.

Nice build Tungsten. Your designs are getting a lot more simplistic.

So Monger its basically the same stuff you use to make those RAD friendship bracelets you hand out to all your closest friends.

I agree with Jay dungeon is great for getting a chase but often the trailing clouser gets the hit. Great fly for fishing a combo.

I used the same rod on a few rivers in the skeena system last year and it is a good rod. Fish tales has a kit full of all different lines that you can rent for the day and go out to figure out which one you like the most.

Fly Fishing Expo -
troutlover replied to SilverDoctor's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I think a lot of people are missing the point of this show. If you don't like to talk to people and you are just there to LOOK your probably going to be happiest when you leave. However if you took the opportunity to talk to some of the best fisher people in the industry and pick their brain, if you took advantage of the fact the you had hundreds of rods to cast and find the one that fit you, If you took the time to attend seminars then you probably felt like the show is an incredible opportunity and you were sad to see it wrap up. Im a big fan of the show. I think if you go for knowledge and to build relationships its a huge win. When i started out fly fishing i would spend the whole weekend at the seminars it took my game to the next level and gave me the foundation i needed to get started. I just cant figure out how someone can go there and not cast at least a dozen rods on the pond. That is by far my favorite part. Looking forward to next year. -
since catching the Steelhead bug last year all my time and $$ are saved for my return. Before going last year i had been able to fish with a couple of guys who have been all over the world and fished many of the premium destinations. I have asked both, out of everywhere they have been where if they had to pick one place would they return to, both with out hesitation said BC Steelhead and Alaska are a tie. I know its different strokes for different folks but it says a lot. We don't have to go very far to have a world class experience.

Pelicans And Their Natural Predators
troutlover replied to fishinhogdaddy's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
I dont know how much money is in the budget to protect the fish but. You can buy a drone and program it to have facial recognition. The drone sits on a charging pad and monitors the pond through a camera it is programmed to recognize birds. When the birds come within a set perimeter the drone will automatically leave the docking station chase the birds out of the perimeter an then return to station. -
that was crazy!

Hey Broken tippet and anyone else there are a lot of Hunters on this site as well. If anyone has questions the non fishing related section is a great place to ask. There have been some great conversations there in the past about hunting. PS- Monger how do you hunt without full camo on? You must never get anything.

Thinking Of Buying A Drift Boat To Rent Out.
troutlover replied to SanJuanWorm's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Any business can be developed and service sold if you market it right and put some effort into sales. I think it would be a slow start and then it would pick up with some regular business over a few years. I think what stops a lot of people is they feel uncomfortable navigating a boat down the river. Forgot to add yes I would rent it. I do have a jet boat but It would be nice to hit the city every once in a bit to drift and to take it to the Waterton also. -
There are lots of central Alberta streams that are spring fed where the temps and flows remain relatively consistent. Good for you Jay for clearly not targeting fish in streams that had warm and low flow conditions. Also, NICE FISH!

Lakes With Boat Access Close To Calgary
troutlover replied to bigfry's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Chain Lakes is close, great for views and if you find the fish it can be fun. If you want to guarantee fish go to pine coulee res. its a walleye fishery some days you are hooked up before the jig even gets to the bottom. jig with a minnow or leech is all it takes for kids to have fun all day long there. -
Mus Be Nice Land Purchase
troutlover replied to troutlover's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
It is true. Got the info from a reliable source there has been a sale of the land and it is to a developer. Just wondering if anyone knows the plan for the land or the company that purchased it. Sometimes these things take 20 years till they are considered for development a lot of bigger developers buy what they call 10 year land or 15 year land in anticipation of future growth. -
I heard from someone that all the land at "Must be nice" was sold to a land developer anyone else hear anything about this or have more details?

Garage W/ Rooftop Deck Project
troutlover replied to sraak's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Sraak, You should seriously consider spray foam insulation for your project. Especially with a flat roof, I have seen so many problems with flat roofs and ventilation issues resulting in rotten trusses on buildings less than 5 years old. Let me know when you have a design and I can give you some options for your building envelope. -
His boat has lots of stickers..... I like stickers.
