  1. Alberta Environment and Parks has a survey up today for feed back on consideration for Pine Coulee to harvest all Walley as they see it as a failed fishery then change it to trout. PLEASE take the survey and then in the comments section of the survey please ask them to make it a quality fishery. As the Calgary area now has zero quality lakes and more than enough harvest lakes. If someone smarter than me can post the link please do. Thank You Jared aka(troutlover the legend himself) <- Monger thats for you.
  2. farawayflyfishing.com has some amazing trips down there. As well as a trip for the worlds only atlantic steelhead run. Pretty easy to do a DIY and flights are really reasonable. Its one of my life goals to spend a winter down there.
  3. I use the rio grip shooter. I have joint and pain issues with my hands and i find it easier to hold on the cork with my finger. I did have slick shooter but it kept slipping on the cast. I really haven't noticed a difference how it shoots its all the same to me but im a rookie so its probably an experience thing.
  4. I was just thinking that same thing the other day while sneaking up on some Elk with a "primitive weapon" muzzle loader that is accurate at 200 yards.
  5. I like the chest view point however i like things about the head strap also but find i use the chest most. I have the equipment for the poles but i never use them. If you have a boat i find it nice to have a few mounts placed throughout the boat and some sticks that fit into rod holders on the boat. I never find the need for a remote. Multiple batteries is nice and lots of memory. Took me a whole season of messing around to figure the thing out however; I'm not the sharpest tack around.....
  6. I saved a good part of my days off for steelhead this year and went for 2 weeks. I caught a lot of fish and checked a few things off the bucket list like biggest and dry fly. However a few things happened this trip that really spoiled the experience. Im not going to go into details but i left the Skeena this year regretting that i had only fished with my good friend the Bow about a dozen times to save days for the Skeena. I resolved that this new year i was going to lay off and next year ill only go for a quick 5 day trip and focus on the Alberta waters i love........ COLD SNAP. Tying flies and looking at pictures and Video.....bad experiences have now faded and all i can think about is how can i get the maximum amount of days in on the Skeena next year....... Im ruined..... Have fun.
  7. Hopefully a bunch of signs that say " Yo! wash your *hit before you play with it!"
  8. ya i had my truck broke into and the morons took sunglasses and change but 100 yards down the street they tossed my $750.00 laser measuring tool. Idiots.
  9. #1-Set up a video camera #2-put on a ridiculous outfit to keep wasps from biting you, outfit must include a hockey helmet #3- shoot flaming arrows at wasp hive #4-use hose to put out the house when it catches on fire #5-run like hell when hive falls and hits the ground #6-call the fire department #7-Post video on you tube and enjoy your 15min of Internet fame as the "hockey dude wasp exterminator" #8-Call Troutlover and say thank you
  10. Hardy has a new rod out called the Jet. It is a softer action rod than a lot of these new expensive fast action rods. I think its a great rod but thats me many would hate it because they are not used to slowing down their cast and allowing the tip to load properly. The biggest pro to a slower action rod i find is you dont need to get 30' of line out the tip just to start to get a load.
  11. I like pumpkin. some I will put a dark CDC collar on but usually im pressed for time so I make it simple. Size is an inch on a #12 scud hook. Some I do a hot orange wire wrap. Really when you are fishing fast water I find the fish are less picky.
  12. you would be amazed at how well a small orange jimmy legs works. Or a 2 toned jimmy 3/4 dark 1/4 orange. I find the absolute best way to fish the October caddis hatch is during their migration (early august) fast water 1 to 2 feet. They crawl with their case to shore and hang out there till emergence. Last year the hatch was the biggest ive seen on the Bow.
  13. Oh crap. Don't tell Monger that, he'll go beat the piss out of all the big fish. Then we'll have to see all the pictures and wish we were just like him.
  14. Jpinkster I think that's what I said. Listen to the members and then present the plan that will execute their goals. You are right the party hasn't been in touch or represented the membership in many years. Hence why they barely exist now. I do however disagree with your perspective on the Leader. The party needs someone the public will believe in. I think the difference will be how that leader leads.
  15. For the record. I do hope Kenny falls on his ass.I am not for unite the right. I am tired of a Party that needs to fix itself, rebuild its relations with the public and clearly send a message of who they are since they got their ass kicked. WHERE IS THE CHANGE IN THE PARTY THE PUBLIC SO BLATANTLY REJECTED? Who are they going to be? I think you are right 90% of the public want to support a "NEW" progressive party not a re-mashup of an old split PC party, but not the one we had....They sucked. Where is the "new" PCs? THAT is what the public want and there is NOTHING......crickets. In comes Kenny opportunity lost. Nice one PCs, Nice. What the water cooler talk is.......We need to be introduced to a party with a CLEAR agenda of "HOW WILL THEY FIX IT". The party needs to come out with a STRONG political leader that will paint the picture of what Alberta is going to look like in 4 years (Its going to be an ugly picture). THEN deliver the message of what they will do to recover. That is what people want and they want it now. We are in the crisis now and we need the message. We need someone to hope for and if the party gets support now for "The Plan" that party will win. REPENT. The PCs need to first repent and admit they know what the public rejected and then REVEAL who they will be going forward, then rebuild support on "The Plan". I think the leader selected will either make or break the PC party.
  16. Jpinkster It is funny to me to hear people who participate in their party talk about what needs to happen. They are blinded by the community they surround themselves with and they focus on they party goals instead of what the majority of the public want to see in a party. A party unwilling to conform to what the majority of the public want to see will never rebuild. Politicians need to get out of their community of other politicians who all think the same, leave your table and stick your head into some real conversations at the water cooler. Edit: I guess its not fair for me to leave this without sharing where I lean. BigBowTrout i support your message. Especially the part where we "get on with this". Albertans are ready NOW for action and to see what party is going establish themselves to "save us" from the NDP. Jason Kenny is Fricken brilliant he beat both parties to the punch. Took a page out of old Trumps play book and has a GREAT chance to go all the way with it. Alberta wants a new right. It astounds me that the PC's did not get this message last election and if they did .......well crickets. It was something they needed to do now, make drastic change, get in the media, rally the people. Only media i have seen is Brian Jean and at the end of every interview or broadcast ..."oh ya and Ric Mciver had something to say but we forget what it was." Heck Danielle Smith gets more air time than the PCs these days. PC's got DESTROYED! and sat around while they vanished from Alberta politics Jason Kenny comes along and PCs get more attention than they have had in almost a year and the PCs be like "WE AINT GONNA CHANGE PISS OFF KENNY" and they send an old party face to give the message. PCs have a million ways to spin this windfall and no leadership that knows how to turn this into gold. If you ask me same old party no change in sight. NO desire to "get on with it".
  17. my method for lakes is simple and seems to get me into fish wherever i go. Black doc spratley on a 20' sink tip and wind drift. Wait for the hook up. Once i hook up i circle around and do it again and over and over. If i get into a spot where i hook up multiple times the anchor goes down and i let the doc sink to bottom and do the sllloooowwwww Brian Chan retrieve from bottom to top with a couple quick 6inch pulls once in a bit. this method has been great for me on Bullshead and Police.
  18. If things start to close up here I might have to take a trip there. Thanks for sharing. Very cool.
  19. I second Old Macdonald. Great fishing for Pike. They have a nice beach. I haven't ever heard of a blue green algae problem there its a really big lake. Our kids get mad when we go anywhere else, they would live there if they could.
  20. Gravel bars that dump into deeper water,, there's loads of them
  21. you have to realize Monger fishes with 0x for everything he just drags those beasts around.
