Guest 420FLYFISHIN Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 great buzzers. but i have never seen an alberta crayfish in those colours
jordo Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Damn nice ties everyone. I've been playing with some more stone variations... I think I now have enough to get me through forever.
lethfisher Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 holy crap you guys all tie in mass quantities!! Must donate lots to the trees then eh? I think I am a slow tier as that many stonefly nymphs would be maybe 5 hours!!
DonAndersen Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 great buzzers. but i have never seen an alberta crayfish in those colours Never seen a Alberta Crayfish. The crays for for BC waters - where real trout live. Don
126barnes Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Very nice Eastman.........when should I show up to help you swing those...........................June 1st is just too long of wait.
Tungsten Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Question for those of you who put the biots in the front of the stoneflys, how durable are they?I would think when they swing and you pull them in they would bend and break.
bowbuster Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Very nice Eastman.........when should I show up to help you swing those...........................June 1st is just too long of wait. Ur tellin' me.........im headin to miramichi for opening week. june 1st ill be at big mac or the snag hopefull with a new metaldetector.
Guest 420FLYFISHIN Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 id say they last long enough for the trout to kill the fly, so 5-10 if its a good tie. but if you just cast and dont catch then i dont know. lol

Like 420 said, they generally last a few fish, but if I catch a couple fish on the same fly I'm pretty happy. If I lose one biot I usually pull out the other and keep fishing it anyway. I doubt it really makes that much of a difference to the fish.
SanJuanWorm Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I'm tying up a set for my son. This one is called the buzz lightyear. Not finished mounting the wings yet. The next fly will be the woody. I may have to re-tie another buzz as I buggered up the ribbing. Oh well i'm rusty. Sorry for the iphone pic my camera is dead.
tgo Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I tie in the antennae biots cause they look good to me, but I would keep fishing with a chewed stonefly anyway cause it would probably work even better!
bulltrout Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Not finished mounting the wings yet. The next fly will be the woody. I may have to re-tie another buzz as I buggered up the ribbing. Oh well i'm rusty. just like i said on FB, every time i read that it makes me laugh...
