  1. Hey dude. SS is what i ended up using on the stick u sold me. It shoots like crazy. Doesnt knot up like i thought it would. Its my first setup so i cant compare but it seems to work well. Picks up easy and like maxwell said stacks good too. Kinda slick when tryin to set up or start a cast sometimes tho. Can slip a bit.
  2. shape a short bullet, touch of k glue , few more wraps, whipfinish with tool or by hand then 2-3 coats of diamond coat nail polish. (this what u meant?)
  3. My fav is my runner, but i like the look of the nautilus
  4. those r awesome man!!!!.......do u weight them or fish them near the surface
  5. Tied on a cotter pin with a stinger
  6. It all depends on how u look at it. It takes me 2 hrs to get to a fly shop and my truck is a pig. That adds up. Also, ordering flies has a shipping cost. No , i dont save money buy tying my own flies but i do save money by not having to travel to get flys or order them. However u want to look at it i guess.
  7. Hey there island guy. I want the skagit head for tips and big streamers. I do have the elixor and it is perfect for the lighter stuff(i believe its the 380) Got it from the guys at riptide . If i do get a full spey, what setup would i need for fishing dries like bombers , rifflehitch micos, diff skaters. I do understand that a skagit would be to heavy/noisy hitting the water for dry fishing. A scandi setup? My ideal full spey will either be the 13' metaldetector or a loop(not sure which) paired with a speedrunner. Just not sure of line for dry stuff. Any word on the clinic yet? thanks for your input. greatly appreciated!!!!! Tight lines.
  8. Thanks dude. Lookin like i can make it work. Seems like they r made small? Hows the lengths in the arms. Ive always had to go one size bigger in jackets due to my arm length.
  9. OK....either ive been fishing with something other than a fly rod or...........Does anyone else here think rollcasting streamers/tips is easier than overhead casting them, especially weighted ones.(not saying it cant be done if tip/flys are light enough but you need to have a good grasp on flycasting in general and proper setup) And not once have i hit myself in the back of the head rollcasting. Overhead , several times. Not saying im right but just from my experience...................................................................... ............................
  10. Im looking to get a loop opti jacket. Im 6-2 220ish. I have found a jacket for 250 plus shipping but cant get the 2xl ,only the 3xl. Is there anyone on here with a 3xl jacket and how does it fit? I dont want to buy the jacket of it will fit a small elephant. It will be worn in the cold for sure with a couple sweaters uderneath. Im guessing it might be a bit big for just a tshirt underneath? just lookin for some insight on buying the 3xl or not. Thanks . Tight lines................................

  14. Ur tellin' me.........im headin to miramichi for opening week. june 1st ill be at big mac or the snag hopefull with a new metaldetector.
  15. thanks guys for the input. Very helpfull indeed. Im headin out to a lake tomorrow to do some practicing. Got a bunch of tips set up to try out and will switch between heads. I think my problem is i over power my cast trying to rip everything out of the water to get more distance along with the tip setup ive been using. SO............what size rod should i invest in. My home salmon river is quite large and alot of the runs are hard to fish with lots of brush and bushed behind u. I def want a skagit head but just not sure of size of rod . kinda leanin to an 8wt. Will be swingin heavy tips and non-weighted flies. Also small stuff in the summer(size 4-8) and bomber dries and various skaters. might keep the switch for the lighter stuff tho. Thanks again for the info guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Thanks dude. So , do i need to add any floating tip if im using a shorter sinktip. Ive spliced an old 10wt singlehand line to a few piesec of sinking line but havent tried them yet. They al total about 15 feet with 10/5 6/9 3/12 floating/sinktip ratio. I think they r like the mow tip idea. gotta get out i guess any try it. Ill let u know how i make out. Thanks again!
