  1. As a father of two, I can only imagine the things going through your mind. I don't know what I would do if that happened to one of my kids. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Wishing for a speedy recovery. I hope the little guy gets better very soon.
  2. I haven't had the pleasure of fishing with Dave, but a couple friends of mine have, and like you, have nothing but great things to say about him and his fishing skills. And, judging by the articles he writes for Fly Fusion, his history, and background, I can't think of a better couple than Dave and Amelia to take over for Alberta Fishing Guide. All that said, I am glad that you had a trip to remember after all the health issues that you have had to endure over the last couple years. I hope that you are able to continue to follow your passion of fly fishing as you learn to deal and live with your condition. Great pictures and an even better story, thanks for sharing with us.
  3. I too, love every frikin thing about fly fishing. Thanks for taking us on your journey Steve. Next time, actually TAKE ME ON YOUR JOURNEY! I love how you manage to find time to dig out your camera for a shot while fighting the fishes....

Great pictures! I love the sunset behind the tree!
  7. You were grinding my gears? That NEVER happens on this site...how COULD you!? I wish someone would edit this emoticon to the proper "You're a Bait Fisherman" if I'm gonna rib someone....I would like to at least be grammatically correct.
  8. I've heard that, but it's never been my experience. I have had two different models and the only reason that I replaced my first pair was that I was an idiot and bought the wrong size! Which meant I had to replace all the damn soles too lol Two seasons strong on this current set and no issues so far.
  9. Buy Korkers....you can replace the soles for $40
  10. Sadly, it seems the ONLY people who get upset by this are the fishermen. I suppose if more people got upset, then maybe, it would happen less. I doubt it, but one can dream. Can't fix stupid.
  11. God DAMN! Well done my friend, well done!
  12. Sweet. Fish Tales carries Fishpond, I'm sure that I can pick one up there. Thanks Jay!
  13. All this talk about water temperatures, makes me want to pick up thermometer before my next trip out. What do you guys recommend for a good stream thermometer? Do the infrared ones work? Sorry for the hijack.
  14. Nice fish!
  15. You make sure you take good care of those kids. My daughter is with Woodcreek Scouts 401 and will be attending. Good on ya for taking this on!
  16. Beauty brown!
  17. Seriously awesome! Wow!
  18. Where are you in South Calgary? I live in Woodbine and we take all our animals to the Woodlands Vet Hospital. Dr. Leboldus is a great vet and has always given great advice for the care and treatment of our pets. http://www.woodlandsvet.com/
  19. My go to Dry fly rod for the Bow is a TFO BVK 8'6" 5wt. I absolutely love it. Have it paired with an Orvis Access reel and a Rio gold fly line. Casts wonderfully. Handles both the tiny sz 20 midges and the giant foam hoppers/bitches with ease. Faster action, but light as a feather.
  20. Nice!
  21. I use the Simms neoprene socks in my wading boots for wet wading. I use a thin athletic sock underneath, just for padding so they fit better and it works great. You don't HAVE to use socks, but I find that my boots fit better that way, so I do. I find that it keeps your feet MUCH warmer too. Once the initial shock of the cold water gets in there, your body warms it up and then stays body temperature, even when wading further. I love them.
  22. Yes. Open all the way. What you need to do, if you're getting on in the north is to follow the road all the way south. Be sure to steer clear of the right lane as you get to 22x and be sure to follow the signs. The lanes bugger off in all different directions around 22x/Deerfoot, so you can easily find yourself going the wrong way in a hurry. And, if you're like all other drivers in Calgary, then you'll likely try to peel over at the last second, cut off several vehicles in the process and cause a major accident and basically screw up traffic for hours. The bright side is that you may hold up some other fishermen from coming down and low holing you because they are stuck in traffic. So maybe go for it. I hope that this is enough detailed information for you. I wouldn't want BigFoamy come after me for not being helpful in your time of need. Cheers and happy travels.
  23. Contact CDone (Colin Done) on the board. I think he can help you there. Snowbee rep, if I'm not mistaken.
  24. I have had no issues with any of the rods that I have broken over the years. Broke my old Sage Launch tip and had it replaced in a reasonable time through Fish Tales. Orivs sections that have broken I dealt with Country Pleasures on, but have since just dealt with Orvis directly and the service has been amazing! The only rod that I haven't broken are my TFO rods (knock on wood), but I am comforted in knowing that I can just drive to their warehouse in town and have it replaced immediately. Reddington, for the record, has been amazing to deal with on warranty for my waders. I have nothing but positive things to say about them.
