  1. Never mind! Found it in the email you sent me! Oops.....
  2. Ricky! Need a link for your donation site so that I can give ya some money!
  3. I'd take a solid look at the Orvis Recon. Heard it's a beaut! In the $5-600 range if I'm not mistaken.
  4. I have an 8'6" 5wt TFO BVK for the Bow, and an 8'0" 3wt TFO BVK for the small streams. I have to say, I love them both. Particularly the 5wt. I love the feel of the 8'6" length for casting. It was one of the first things that I noticed when I learned how to fly fish and tried a number of different weights and lengths during the class. They recommended trying different sizes and the 8'6" just felt the best to me, and it just suck with me ever since.
  5. Well, I hope they start enforcing this immediately, as I was out at Bear Pond yesterday and could hear the ATV's and dirt bikes out, as well as a HORDE of Weekend Warriors dragging their mobile homes into Indian Graves. Empty when we arrived at 10:00am, and PACKED when we left at 6:30. Every single one had a toy hauler along with quads and dirt bikes.
  6. I have a 10'0" 7wt Orvis Helios2 that I use exclusively for casting streamers, and I love it. I have gone on many day long trips with it, and have yet to get fatigued from casting all day. The extra length helps immensely with mending, and keeping the big gnarly flies in the air.
  7. Buddy I was fishing with yesterday has the Simms with the BOA system on it. Cable on it broke. Had to walk the rest of the day in the middle of nowhere with a busted lace. I don't like the BOA system myself because I can't get the laces tight enough around my toes without cutting off the circulation to my foot, so I highly prefer laces. If it breaks, re-lace it. Replacement laces are also a lot less expensive lol My two bits
  8. Looks like another fun event that I'll miss out on due to working every damn Saturday...... :$*%&:
  9. Only if you're referring to the suntans that the recreational floaters would get on a sunny day. If the floaters were out in droves on a cloudy/rainy day (which they aren't) then I am sure you would see the fire crew out there checking for beer, life vests, rescuing, etc. They aren't concerned about the guys fishing from boats so much as the drunk teenagers. Unless you aren't wearing a life jacket, then they will be all over you like a fat kid on a box of smarties.
  10. I am hoping to finally pay a visit to the fabled "Cutty Hut" this coming season. No promises, but I like the sounds of the place and the area is wicked nice.
  11. Thanks for the advice! It worked like a charm! I don't use it on a regular basis now as I don't have issues, but it sure came in handy when it flared up for different reasons about a month ago.
  12. When I first started fly fishing I got tennis elbow from casting too. I referenced it here and one of the members recommended the Serola Gel Arc elbow brace for tennis elbow. You can find it here: http://www.serola.net/serola-gel-arc-elbow-brace I was able to order it through Co Op Home Healthcare on MacLeod Trail S (Beside Sleep Country) and it was amazing. Using a gel, like deep cold, or Voltaren, and working it into the tendonitis area really helps too. Wear the brace while fishing, to prevent stress on the tendon, and use the gel in the morning and before bed. It went away for me pretty quick, and haven't had to use the brace since. *knocks on wood
  13. Glenmore is fine, easily drive upstream and put in. Fish Creek is locked. Won't be open until after the melt. Police is fine, just have to drag your boat over about 30-40 feet of ice to get your trailer down. Floats are slow. About 6 hours from Glenmore to Police. If you launch at about 8:30 - 9:00, you should be able to get to Police before dark. Depending on how many stops you make. Water is low and slow, so keep an eye out for rocks that you normally wouldn't see in the summer as they are closer to the surface now.
  14. Looks like a great summer! I hope you have many others just like it!
  15. Those are some fine looking pictures Lornce. Thanks for sharing!
  16. I use the Springbrook Mag Net Release. It has a small bungy cord that prevents me from losing my net, both sagging on a tree, or by floating away. $40 and well worth the price. http://templeforkoutfitters.ca/deluxe-mag-net-release.html
  17. I would highly recommend Maxwell Robinson of Bowcrow Outfitters. He's a chill guy, and one hell of a guide. I have floated with him numerous times, and have never had issues having fun and getting into fish. http://bowcrow.tripod.com/flyfishing/id11.html
  18. I thought I saw you there. I guess you didn't see me. I was right by the door with my back to the entrance. Big table with the Troutftters guys, Maxwell, my buddy Craig and a couple other guys from Loop.
  19. Arctic Unicorns was the best film this year, and the rafting clips in Gold, were pretty hairy to watch. Those guys are nuts lol This was my fourth time at IF4, and have to say it was one of the weaker ones, in my opinion. The first movie, The Hog, when I saw the "previews", had promise, but was SUPER disappointing. In years past, the films had a lot more focus on the fish, with great footage of the takes, fights, etc. Some great videos in the past, Backyard to Knowhere, Only the River Knows, are just a couple that come to mind in that respect. This year, there seemed to be too much focus on the anglers and them boasting about all the awesome fishing they did. Almost seemed that all they were trying to do was market themselves, and not the fishing or the story behind it. Save for a couple of the films (Arctic Unicorns, Gold, and Foundations) Just my two cents. All in all, worth the $15, and will certainly attend again next year. It's great to catch up with friends there and share our passion (obsession, right BiggyJ?) and then catch a few beers at OJs after.
