  1. I just use my wading boots with a Simms neoprene sock in it. It really helps keep your feet warm in those cold mountain streams and the support is clearly there too.
  2. Awesome shots Art, thanks!
  3. Thank you Doc. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas as well.
  4. most useless thing I purchased was the mosquito annoyer by William Joseph. The thought of there being a high pitched noise to drive away the skeeters and not have to bathe in repellant was too much to take and for only ten bucks, I thought it was worth the gamble. Ten bucks I will never get back. Such is life.
  5. After 40 years of marriage, a husband and wife came for counseling. The wife went into a tirade, listing every problem they had ever had in the years they had been married. On and on and on, she went: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire laundry list of unmet needs she had endured. Finally, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and after asking the wife to stand, he embraced and kissed her, long and passionately, as her husband watched with a raised eyebrow. The woman shut up, and quietly sat down as though in a daze. The therapist turned to the husband and said "This is what your wife needs at least 3 times a week. Can you do this?" "Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Friday I fish!
  6. It's always the same with you isn't it Steve? Same amazing pictures, same amazing stories, same amazing scenery. Can't you do something boring once in a while to make the rest of us feel normal? Great pics as always buddy. Looking forward to our next trip out together!
  7. nice shots! Looks like a great summer!
  8. This is exactly why I said that Steve. Good luck tonight. I will be out tomorrow. First outing since I got back from Terrace at the end of August. Can't wait.
  9. Born and raised in Edmonton. Learned to fish with spin gear with my dad on Cross Lake near Barrhead, trolling for pike, using marshmallows for bait for perch, etc. Hadn't fished since I was 16 or so until I moved to Calgary in 2001. Had heard of the Bow river and what kind of a fishery it is prior to even moving here, when fishing wasn't really in the forefront of my mind. When I moved here, I won a spin rod and tackle box in a fun hockey tournament with my job at the time and gave the Bow a shot. Frustrating experience. I had been wanting to learn how to fly fish, but being the procrastinator that I am, I never really dug into it much to see where I could go to learn. Thankfully, my lovely wife did that for me and bought me an Introductory Fly Fishing course through Country Pleasures. Actually learned how to fly fish from Jim Mclennan. I didn't really know it was a big deal at the time. From the moment I picked up that fly rod and started to cast, I knew I was done. Hook, line and sinker. This was back in 2008, I have been obsessed ever since and get out whenever I can. I have met, and fished with, several members from this board, all of which have helped me immensely (well, except maybe Bob Loblaw) in learning this sport that I have grown to love over the few years that I have been doing it. So much so that I am trying to get my two kids into it so that I have fishing partners that my wife can't complain about. See you on the river.
  10. I also lost about 1/3 of my big poplar out front. Spent sunday cutting, moving and raking up branches just so I could walk from the street to my front door. Craziness!
  11. My mother in law made me carrot cake for my birthday. It's delicious.
  12. Nice! I love the pics of the eagles!
  13. Awesome doesn't really describe these pictures enough. Well done and thanks for sharing!
  14. I would certainly agree with you there. Good enough game, much better than years previous, but still need to limit the turnovers and mistakes.
  15. NICE! My wife and I took the kids up to Patricia Lake last Canada Day. I heard there were lakers in there but I never fished for them, never even had my gear with me. Nice to know there are not only fish, but friggin nice fish! Well done!
  16. Taco, you have won the internet for the day!
  17. I have the 8'6" 5wt. BVK and couldn't be happier with it. I LOVE how it casts. I've chucked dries, nypmh rigs and small streamers with it very easily. Great rod.
  18. Yep. Beauty cutts up there! I remember standing in that exact same spot when we were up there. Just loved watching them come up out of nowhere and smash the fly! Thanks for sharing!
  19. Well, next time I will just have to make sure that I don't have to leave at 3:00!!
  20. Now, where was that guy when we were there Steve?
