Can't Take It Back/oops
Jayhad replied to flyfishy's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Flysquishy when you want the new phone let me know and I'll get a serious deal -
should have bonked it the first time
-
I'll assume that the etiquette will go south even more this year with the limited access points for guides, a good portion of them are going to be "getting there's" regardless of how it impacts others.
-
I think we should all be much more concerned about the dangers encountered when we as angler see beavers. Not only are they "destroying" our wetlands by downing trees and stopping flows, but they are killing sportsman every week https://www.google.ca/url?q=http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/attacking-beavers-a-concern-in-belarus-after-man-killed-1.1396377&sa=U&ei=Tp1WU6XgLqTN2AW8lYHgDg&ved=0CB0QFjAA&usg=AFQjCNEvOCfz9CzWCygFtEMrFWDgYCC91g Yes Bcube, ridiculous is the word I would use as well
-
Good luck Gil, we should have a public launch every 8k. I think it is easier to get private access rather than petition the city for mre access.
-
i've caught them right up to bearspaw damn over the last few years

If You Had $4000 Laying Around....
Jayhad replied to Dxh's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Bingo, I scored my first drifter for $2000. With $4000 you can buy a good used boat. Keep your eyes peeled and you can find good deals, especially if a guy has had his boat listed for a while. -
This Stream Should Really Be Better Than It Is.
Jayhad replied to greatbigdiddy's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Pretty much bang on, except the ATV damage goes all the way to the head waters. -
I have a hard time believing that, think of it on economic terms, TFO is going to fork out the cost to tool up to manufature a completly different rod line up for the Canadian market..... which is close to only 10% of the US market, it doesn't make cents. They have a better rep in the US because the vast majority of yanks are making peanuts. So spending money on the newest Sage verses a TFO and rent, easy decision.

What Is Your Dream Fishing Trip, Summer Or Winter
Jayhad replied to fishinglibin's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I'm off to Cuba again in 4 days but my dream fishing is drifting the Bow. I don't think there's another river in the world where you can get so many browns on big streamers, I love it. -
Fish Creek, typically most will consider the section from Harvey's Passage downstream is the section to fish.
-
The fishing is poor and it will be difficult to gain access to that area as the city has closed Harvey Passage for flood related repairs. The repairs are scheduled to take until summer 2017.
-
I guess I screwed up, if you are trolling you need big baits, clearly this bait wasn't big enough Fishpro, I have had the opportunity to fish for steelhead, not much in 2000s but during the 80s and 90s I would estimate I logged 700-900 days steelheading.... mind you half of those days I used sandshrimp and dink floats
-
How come most self-respecting fly anglers protect dirty rainbows and Browns when they start stacking up and the gov mandates that we don't chase them when spawning, but the Holy Grail of freshwater fishing, Steelhead, is free game? Steelhead aren't as valuable as Bow river rainbows..... that's what the system shows me.

Legality Of Motor Boats Above 22X
Jayhad replied to Jayhad's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I couldn't agree more, the section I drift is over 20K, put-in in the north and there isn't a public launch until Glenmore. Due to the flooding the wier is closed for the next 3 years for repairs. So now one can't take out on public lands if drifting the North-city section, a small jet solves that problem. I wonder how big an electric motor I would need to pull my drifter back upstream, haha -

Weedy, don't be showing that stuff yet..... The one I'm building will virtually be exactly the same but just a tad bigger, and about 220 HP woohoo Think about the possibilities... Sheep, Highwood, Upper elbow, north raven, Jumping Pound, Fallen Timber..... the small rivers are endless -

Thanks Harps, I appreciate fact over opinion. That said pretty much everything we do everyday has a negative impact on the earth, am I going to stop using my cars? am I going to stop using all my fun peices of coltan rich technology? am I going to stop walking along the shore on a well defined trail? we all do harm and I would hope that some of us try to lessen our impact but to what point? -

really, paragraphs are now considered science? I see no peer reviewed papers supporting your wild dreams of erosion being posted.... I haven't said anything because there is no point in discussing topics with those of you that think anglers are the only ones that should be allowed to use the resource. Don't be surprised when you see a jet running under crowchild this season -

so those boaters, river users shouldn't have access to the river? a rooster tail oh my, yes fly anlgers should be the only ones to use the Bow. You are fishing in a river in a city of 1,000,000+. People are going to use the Bow, most of the time in ways you don't approve of It's no secret i drift the northern section, on a hot weekend there might be 5000 rafts on the river, and the river gets busy, loud and loaded with trash. I still boat trouts, many times from under rafts or water they just rafted over. And over a 150 drifts I've only ever had one raft bump into my boat. The CFD runs 3 290 hp inboard jets everyday from april to nov, you can hear them coming from kms away, they go by pretty darn fast sometimes and run a pretty large wake. There's already a considerable amount of jet boat traffic from bearspaw to 17th. -
