bigbowtrout Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 5 Wins in a row. Tops in the Western Conference. Best team GAA in the league. Best October in almost ten years. Not a bad start for a bunch of kids and a couple geezers...... Quote
darrinhurst Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Thanks Chris! I'll forward this to those responsible for mapping parade routes in Edmonton. I am certain they'll be able to use it there before they will here...... Quote
bhurt Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Just remeber its still early in the season, I belive calgary had a fantasic start last year and look at what happened at the end of the season, we shall see by the mid point in the season Quote

I am interested to see what happens when Bulin starts playing anything but amazing and the team faces some adversity. For the most part though I am really impressed with the consistent play from most of the young guys, and it's been really fun watching this year. Quote
darrinhurst Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 6 in a row baby! Has only been 9 years since they last pulled off that little feat! Yes, Brad, it is still early, and the wheels may yet fall off, but we haven't really had much to cheer about the last couple seasons, so I am going to cheer like a m*&^%&$*er while I can! I have six years of pent up frustration to let out. GO OILERS GO! Quote

jimbow Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 and us long suffering flames fan will have an AB team to cheer for. funny how when i was much younger i hated the oilers but since both teams have been, shall we say not playing up to par, i've had no problem cheering on the oilers except when they play the flames. they are pretty fun to watch with the young talented guys.... darrinhurst Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 That is what sex is for darrin or your left hand which ever comes first I'm right handed. Think about that the next time I shake your hand..... Quote
bhurt Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I'm right handed. Think about that the next time I shake your hand..... Darrin, That is why you use the left hand, that way your thing will not know its your hand Quote
darrinhurst Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 Another "Battle" of Alberta tonight! Oilers have a very respectable 8-3-2 at home and boast a League Best Power Play at home. The Flames, however, are the fourth best Power Play on the road, so special teams will be a factor for both squads. I say 4-2 Edmonton, but I'm not holding my breath. Calgary always seems to step up against my boys in blue. Quote
trailhead Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 You might be right, the Flames also seem to pick it up after they blow a game, like they did against Columbus. But you never know which Calgary team is going to show up. Quote
darrinhurst Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 I know which one I'm hoping shows up, but the same could be said for Edmonton. They've been up and down a lot this year too. However, the ups are a lot higher than the lows this year. Which is pretty awesome to watch. Quote
birchy Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 They just won the draft lottery... selecting the 1st overall pick for the 3rd year in a row!! I'm thinking they'll package him up for a stud D-Man.. Quote
EveretteD Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Hard to consider it aclottery when the same team wins three years in a row. Something fishy going on there I think. Quote
Smitty Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Hard to consider it aclottery when the same team wins three years in a row. Something fishy going on there I think. Man I love this board when it comes to hockey; so many conspiracy theorists. Yes Everette, this multi-billion dollar sport whose leader (Bettman) is obssessed with getting the sport to take hold in US markets where there is virtually little amateur/kids participation, yeah, he put the fix in. He wants one of the smallest market, most northerly, Canadian teams to win it three years in a row. Or maybe Katz is just good at bribing...lol. Hi-larious! Keep 'em coming! Smitty PS On a more a analytical note, there is a serious serious serious amount of pressure on this organization now. Fans are reasonably expecting to have these picks (whether they're kept or not) parlayed at least into a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in, say, 4 years or less. Some fans probably going to have stupid expectations about next year, but there's no doubt we should be contending for a playoff spot next year. Quote
darrinhurst Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 OKC for the Calder Cup!! LOL Well they certainly have the talent for it! Quote
Jayhad Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 What do you think they will rename the oilers when they are relocated into seattle.... hahaha 1 Quote
darrinhurst Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Ummm....the Edmonton Oilers? Katz issued a letter of apology for the Seattle tactic and realized soon after it backfired. Big time. Quote
birchy Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Yeah that was a very stupid move on his part. They would never move that team! It's one of the top 6 money making teams in the league if I heard correctly.. Quote
darrinhurst Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 They sure as *hit make more money that the Phoenix Coyotes and Carolina Hurricanes and they aren't exactly lining up to move those franchises anytime soon. Quote
