  1. I have used Smith and Costa and found them both to be great. Probably slightly prefer my Costa just the way they fit my face. I find my ears a little sore after a full day with the smiths.
  2. Awesome photos, thanks a lot for sharing them. Looks like a great year.
  3. Wow that is a lot of awesome shots, thank you for posting.
  4. Damn that looks like a great way to spend a weekend. Thanks for sharing the post definitely gives a guy a drive to do some remote hike in fishing.
  5. Ha they would get me every time, I love 'Beer' brand beer.
  6. I bought my smiths at bow cycle. Also on the Lens front just picked up a pair of Costa Glasses and have to say that I find the Costa Lenses a step above the Chroma Pop. Still very impressed with the Smith's just not as nice as the Costa. I was able to pick up a pair at Bass Pro Shops.
  7. Those are some monster fish. Nice work.
  8. Love that photo, ha but like you said wow lots of bend on that rod.
  9. Haha sinusodal good bye. So the bigger the amplitude the bigger the fish?
  10. Hi all, I currently work Oil and Gas and have for most of my adult life. Currently based out of Calgary but have been around AB, BC, Sask and some of the hotspots in the US. I still remember trying to self teach myself fly fishing on a dugout we had for the farm. Got it stocked with 30 or so rainbow trout and I attempted to catch them with a fly but only succeeded in catching the barbwire fence beside the pond and myself. My father new the one and only dryfly (Clive) from this forum and he came over and spent an afternoon helping me out. I still remember watching in awe at the oddly dressed man with the cigar catching fish after fish. Definitely an impressive thing to see. Sadly I ran out of time and patience and didn't fish much for many years after that. Going to University in Wyoming and one my classmates was a second generation guide so he truly got me into it during the school year. I did go back to Clive's book as the first book I read regarding fly fishing. Been hitting up the Crowsnest area a lot as it is between my father and I and he is retired. I did get the opportunity to teach my dad and have turned him into a real addict. Nice having a fishing partner who is retired as they always have the time to go fishing when I can. Been on this forum for years and have learned lots of different things and fished with a few members. I know sometimes I am pretty active on here but lately work has been fairly busy so sadly not as active as I would like. Definitely been a pleasure for sure.
  11. I haven't tried it yet personally but I do love the Hardy Ultralite series of reels. Sadly that came out just after my most recent Hardy purchase.
  12. Maybe something for the lower back. Back Extension or dumbbell good mornings. Don't need anything heavy just lots of repetitions. I know my dad who is quite a bit older has some back exercises he does on one of those big yoga balls and he has found it allows him to enjoy longer days.
  13. Hello everyone, just wondering what everyone's preference is in regards to which kind of loop knot they use for Streamers? I have used a couple of different ones now with varying degrees of success in tying. Personally I have found a Non-slip Mono to be okay to tie. I haven't done it often so still working on the proficiency but getting there. Wondering what other people prefer and why? Ease of tying? Better Loop size control? Higher break strength etc. http://www.animatedknots.com/indexfishing.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.png&Website=www.animatedknots.com#ScrollPoint Seems to be a good site with lots of different options, granted some of them definitely look a little more complicated to tie. Thanks for any opinions/experiences on this.
  14. Monger I always look for the rock with the least amount of sediment on it, thus indiciating a higher percentage of people standing on it. I have a special type of polarization on my lenses which allows me to see footprints extremely well.
  15. Korkers do have the nice perk of being able to swap soles. On days I knew I had a good hike in I will take the extra soles, rubber for the hike in then felt for the day of hiking and swap back on the way out.
  16. I know I sure was happy to see the water level was higher this morning going over the bridges. Pretty sad to see all those fish dying like that, thanks for posting guys.
  17. Hi everyone, just saw this video and was really impressed the visual affect of guys walking on the ice from the underside and the way the bubbles react makes for something very artistic and amazing. https://vimeo.com/34340906
  18. Linux for the win.... I am not a huge fan of Windows 10 from the little I have used it. Currently running Win 7 and office 365 at work and have been enjoying both products. always like Windows 7.

    Swimming Pig

Hmm not sure if I would call that a pig or tank either way I wish I was the one catching it. I really need to get a boat of some sort for lake fishing.
  20. Agreed jpinkster. Extremism on either side of the coin never ends up helping anyone. As you said it only sets back the good work that is being done and hinders more good work from being done.
  21. That big pike is a real mutant. Great photo.
