  1. I moved to a condo because I knew it would be too warm to ice up the front steps this year.
  2. August 2009 according to this story: http://calsun.canoe.ca/News/Alberta/2008/05/22/5642006.html
  3. Had it on my moderate-fast action 5 wt...didn't use it too much but I liked it for shooting and roll casting. Harps, did you check if there was a warranty on the line? If not, complain to SA anyways, they might just give you a new one.
  4. Tons of drinking straws and styrofoam in the drift wood piles, along with tons of lighters and a dozen empty packs of rum and wine dipped cigars, all in one spot. And Carl and I could probably start a used shoe store with what we found. Thankfully, no bodies again this year!
  5. Pellet gun wars were the best! One time a ranger caught me and a few buddies out in the middle of the bush, dressed head to toe in hockey gear and safety glasses (thinking they would actually stop a pellet), and since he didn't know what he could charge us with, he just let us go with a warning. Getting shot in the back of the head really does hurt, though.
  6. Excellent work, and good to hear they got out there in time..the couple times I've called in the poachers were gone before a CO could show up. Considering how much money the Bow can generate economically, there should be at least someone closer than Drumheller to respond to calls.
  7. You can get barbless hooks themselves anywhere, although the selection is limited, but any of the smaller shops around town will have some barbless flies.
  8. They do sell em that way, but it is up to the tier to use em, so check out stores with locally tied flies; With customers in different places with different rules, the bigger companies or tiers who ship flies everywhere just go with the barbed hooks and let the angler sort it out.
  9. They still have to put you on their do not call list if you tell them to (lasts 3 years).

    Clubs...

Just show up, guests are always welcome. There's only a few meetings left this year, so the dues would also be pro rated. (50/year normally)
  11. How about some travel mugs? http://www.epromos.com/product/8824721.html See if they'll put a few fish pics on there so you can check the level of the Tims!

http://hookandhackleclub.org/ Meetings every 2nd Wednesday throughout the fly tying season, and you get beginner lessons included with your membership (the new class just started last week, however, so you've missed one fly). Also a huge library of everything you'd need for fly tying and fishing, and a 10% discount at the fishin hole, so a membership can pretty much pay for itself.
  13. Had a piercing in my cheek and nailed myself in the head with the same #2 clouser, on the same cast.
  14. Google maps has an old picture of the area, but the new parking lot is easy to find.
  15. There was an article about fishing the streams in the fort mac area (Hangingstone, Wandering River, and another one) in Barry Mitchell's 2007 fishing guide. Don't know if you can still find it, but someone around here might have a copy hanging around.
  16. The same article Birchy's quoting says that they do, and is a good read to pick up for some other tips. Of course, not all sjw's are fished in more than 3 feet of water.. you could also try making a blue worm to test out a theory as well.
  17. Well, when you net a fish like this, how can you not expect a bear to attack?
  18. Some of it's already been protected: http://www.tpr.alberta.ca/parks/consult/OHRanch/default.aspx
  19. You may want to contact the Oldman TU guys who did a day of fly fishing classes/seminars, dinner, and silent auction for some suggestions on how to get it going.
