  1. I stopped by Mt. Lorette on the way out of K country on Saturday - didn't see a single sign of a fish. Do they list here even if they haven't done it yet or is there an escape route for em at the end of the ponds?
  2. I tie with my vise in a cheap aluminum roasting pan. When I get enough waste to cover my tying materials, i'll empty it out or create a franken bug from all the waste.
  3. Start with this: http://flyfishcalgary.com/chironomids.php Also good to have some leeches on hand to strip in or fish under an indicator, along with other streamers to strip. Tons of other tips on the web; look up Phil Rowley or Brian Chan for a ton of info, too.
  4. I had analog reception at the boat launch and up on the road...and of course there's a pay phone right there too.
  5. There's a place in Brentwood mall, which is a specialty store for odd shaped feet - they had a few different types of hiking boots in stock last time I was in. http://www.foothealthcentre.com/contact_us.htm
  6. I'll be on foot, heading down tomorrow afternoon and staying for breakfast on Sunday.
  7. Yup, got the thunder over by the airport, too. C'mon power failure to get me out of work early!
  8. Warnings City of Calgary 4:31 AM MDT Thursday 8 May 2008 Snowfall warning for City of Calgary issued Heavy snowfall today and tonight. A cold upper low has crossed the continental divide overnight into southern Alberta. Laden with pacific moisture and tapping into cold air, the low has the potential to produce large amounts of snow. Snowfall amounts will vary depending on the amount of snow melting on contact with the ground. In Jasper, Nordegg and Rocky Mountain House snow will continue today with additional snowfall amounts of 10 to 25 are expected before the snow ends this afternoon. For the Banff region, Kananaskis region, Airdrie region and northern Okotoks region rain is changing to snow early this morning. In Calgary and southern Okotoks region rain will change to snow this afternoon. In these regions local snowfall amounts are forecast to reach 10 to 20 centimetres by early Friday morning. This weather pattern will be closely monitored as the upper low develops over southern Alberta. Fortunately, there's no heavy snowfall warning for Cardston, but this should make the drive pretty fun!
  9. Use water tension on the downstream side or behind you to load the rod on shorter casts if you're high sticking or czech nymphing. A double spey cast also works well for longer casts.
  10. Was a long day but had fun, met some great people, and got skunked in the draws.
  11. 3 is fine...for a single handed rod But a 6/7 spey or switch would be a lot more versatile for pike, nymphs and streamers on the bow, and some bull trout hunting.
  12. It shows views, not views from unique usernames.
  13. Interesting idea, and would help hold the knot against slipping off on nymph rigs, but hopefully this doesn't end up as a niche product like the robertson screw if he doesn't get it produced.
  14. I'm sure you're cryin after landing that beast. Nice fish!
  15. I hope I found all the leaks in my waders.....
  16. Only a goal a minute for the Sharks. Good to see the reffing hasn't improved from last game, either.
  17. Great story! Sure beats mine about me trying to look cool for all the lady joggers in FCP while sloshing my way back to my car because I forgot to repair the hole in my waders I made last week.
  18. I've got the S2IS. There's macro and super macro modes on it, and a description of how to set them in the user's manual. With macro you can take shots from about 30 cm away, and with super macro you can get pictures of stuff on the lens itself (though I wouldn't recommend letting anything touch the lens).
  19. Happy Birthday! Just curious, what did they have before dirt?
