  1. I got a real good one about 6 years ago below police , maybe 7-8 lbs . Super fat and ate a purple chronie. A nice guy came from across river in my bros old boat and took a pic for me. Super happy with that one, a real surprise for me.
  2. So as it stands you can still run to the pump at 194th ? Again this is what fire dept indicated last year.
  3. So sorry has the question been answered ? What is the boundary. For the longest time it was the pump. My nieghbor does some welding for heritage point FD and he asked last season this question and they said pump below 22x. The city limits is on the north side of Deerfoot bridge but not on south? I don't go up there anymore now the bridge is there and the place is crawling with fishermen. I see now many vehicles driving up and down the river bank parking in the trees sneaking in from the construction side upstream of bridge. Don't hear any whining about this ?
  4. Btw, A big thanks for this Monger. Completed this exact setup cpl weeks ago & have tried a dozen plus times and it works perfectly !
  5. sure be nice for all users to have the launch back in working order, safe , clean & no more jackasses driving around the property. Makes me wild seeing all the people trashing mckinnons as well. Drive anywhere. Police launch has all types down there partying back in the bush. RCMP pull a few people out of there.Random vehicles left for days on end, What's left of the launch isn't really under water, it's just runoff high for now, you can still drive to waters edge etc.i wouldn't expect anything is going to wash away at this current height. If it got a bunch higher then that's a different story.
  6. It's not that bad, little water over road in, high enough that it's well up over rocks out front of so called launch. Bunch of debris in water of course & a fair amount suspended in lagoon area of launch. Took bigger jet out today & buzzed around, nothing major happening. Ran into few groups rafting down highwood, not sure that was a smart plan, no life jackets and no controll , yikes.
  7. I bought another rope yesterday & tried out today. Has a low stretch no twist quality & seemed to work fine. Only used it half doz times today but no problem.
  8. Between a myself and a cpl other boats found a bit of their stuff. No sign of boat, pretty tough with high water and low vis. Hard to say how the fibreglass boat will hold up. I remember one at Mac some time ago that was pretty much torn to shreds over a 24hr period. Guess it depends on where and what it gets stuck againest. higher water conditions only makes policemans flats boat launch tougher.
  9. Thanks very much Peter will do. Inbox cleared Murray. Tx
  10. That Spinrx is basically what I have with the Harkin pulley, rope through it and anchor shackled to the bottom of which the shackle spins freely.
  11. Thanks guys, no the rope isn't coiled just sits in a pile in bottom of boat. I've had comments that if I made sure that the core of what ever rope I get ins straight/ linear with no twists that would help. Also a harder rope with no stretch. Kinda bites I've got a few hundred bucks in rope lol. Going to check glenmore again for reference as they have a bunch of different. I'll give some good consideration too climbing rope, hadn't thought that way. I will also check what clacka is doing , thanks again, I know boring topic.
  12. Hey all, Been having some grief with the anchor system on my power drifter. Have a Dierks set up, from the rowing seat reach foreward to grab rope out of cleat/ pully, from there the rope is run through a series of pulleys along side of boat to the bow. From the bow is the main pully, rope runs through and onto anchor. When I got the boat in 2012 it had a cheaper dbl braid mooring line style of rope, 3/8" Shortly after the rope would twist up on itself when pulling anchor up. I bought a new better quality rope from glenmore sailboats 3/8 double braid. No good still spun up. That was about $75 for 75ft. Purchased a new rope this time 1/2" and a Harkin swivelling pully to go in line before the anchor. About $160 again. Rope proved too large for pullys. Switched back to the 3/8" even with fancy pully still spun up. It spins up so bad you can't lift anchor. So I'm using that softer nylon dbl braid rope you use to tie up your sailboat etc.. This may be my problem. Other boat guys out there.. Anyone having this issue?
  13. It is my understanding that the dogs come after you on or off the property. They scared the **** out of me as I walked along the bank. I've seen them, you want to be careful. I talked to him after the incident I had , he's a fishermen too. I gave a call to animal bylaw & they are very well aware of the dogs, several complaints.
  14. Tackle box, by the handle , Allison pool vedder River
  15. I had one yesterday, I was interested a new tool that was listed. Seemed like a decent price & in good shape. Didn't offer any less than he was asking which was $100 He didn't have a ph no. So emailed him with plans to p/u if available . He emails me back and said because there was a bunch of interest in his item he was raising the price to $130. Kijijji yeeesh !
  16. my friend and I found tracks from 2 otters about 2 k below police last week. I wasnt sure what they were but my friend immediately identified them as otters. Sounds like we got some otters.
  17. Love my Hardy Angels, have collected the whole series over the last dozen years. Hard tracking down the UK built ones. Have a pretty quiet drag, visual difference between UK & Korean ones is the chain mail wrapped handles on originals. Finish isn't as nice on the new ones. Ringtone on my iPhone is a Perfect screeching out its drag. It is loud !
  18. I was watching Musky hunter the other day, they throw some big gear. I want a Musky on the fly. Anyhow they were at Cedar Lake Ontario . Checked the camp online & pretty darn reasonable. 7 days, cabin with everything needed, boat & fuel $550/guy.ya got to get there though. Have done Mikisew camps a bunch of times in Northern Alberta, pretty cost effective but they are no longer operating. Have a lake in NWT I was at maybe 20 yrs ago and back then it was $1500. Today's rate $4500 US. Yeesh. My brother did some exploring up around Lac la biche some time ago, can't remember name of the group of lakes , one was Touchwood. Anyhow said there was some good exploring to be had, I think some cabins to rent. For me when I do a fly in , I want pike & Lakers or salmon. Never really thought about going for trout.
  19. This boat found its way down out front of Zeutso red house , was upside down in about 8' of water vacuumed to the bottom. I think it was only there a cpl weeks. Unless you were right over it you couldn't see it. Very spooky. What I meant by haystack out front of Police were the Rapids, rollers, etc...
  20. Good idea ! Get a lesson for sure. Remember those Brits that decided they wanted to try their new boat in 2014 as runoff was coming down. The haystack out front of police was only maybe 5ft tall! Anyhow they tried making the launch, went sideways, flipped , 3 guys in, all gear lost, and almost 3 drown. Fella was very shook up , took him out to locate his boat & he was really not happy being in my boat. Moral of the story , inexperience, not reconizing River conditions can lead to accidents. Doesn't matter what stretch of water your on, if your in your boat anything can happen. Anyone that owns a boat can tell you their own story I'm sure. If iron bow does one go that way, if Dee is your instructor , pay attention ! Very important to be able to read the river.
  21. I wear a manual inflate mustang, nieghbor pulled it on me a cpl months back as I was joking around with it on. Inflates PDQ and was tight as others mentioned. Glad to have it , always wear when using boat . Anyone know a good place to get spare cartridges?
  22. Ya what the hell, had a shower little while ago and the burn came right back. Not a good time. Having this *hit soaked right into the lining of Simms bag makes me want to just throw it out, to bad they are worth a few bucks. I'm sure I don't ever want want this on me again, you know what I'm talking about.
  23. It was my severe misfortune today to have...after rummaging around in my Simms gear bag my entire can of bear spray go off. If there is any luck to this tale is that most of the spray was contained within the bag. A large mist was in the air in front of bag which I inhaled, then grabbed bag and brought outside. I then somehow got on my lips, chin, eye and even on my privates. Extremely uncomfortable for next 1 1/2 hrs , I thought I would cough to death. All fly boxes, flies, leaders, tippets headlamps, pockets and every nook and cranny was saturated. Sooooo when you lose the safety clip on your bear spray maybe pay a little more attention dummy! Laugh on fellas.
