  1. ICE pack, did a couple in the shop last week. Make certain you use a little wax on the ferrals. Dave
  2. The SouthBow boy's do, have a couple of Bank Robbers as well.
  3. I fish a fair bit of CDC dry's, they do get wet and can be a bit of a bugger to dry. I either carry a small chunk of clean cotton rag or usually use my sweatshirt sleeve . Give the fly a good squeeze in the cotton, that takes the wet away then I use a desicant like frogs fanny etc... it has to have a brush in the bottle to apply correctly this helps to stab the powder right into the fly and your back fishing. Start to finish it only takes about 15 seconds, the drying in the sleeve thing is good technique for non cdc dries as well. The powder to work well has to be really fine and wispy the chunky stuff isn't worth beans. Burt stop by the shop some sunday & i'll show you a few different ties for cdc. Dave from SB.
  4. In the middle of Sunday afternoon, in plain view I spot 2 peckerheads fighting a fish then smashing it on the head clearly killing it. I am on the other side of the river across from the launch but was pretty certain at this point that they were bait fishing. I scream over that they are poaching & fishing illegally and make quick time back to my boat. Figured I would go check out what they were doing. I look over and they are allready hustling back to the parking lot. Any how I greeted them in the parking they had a garb bag with 2 large bows & 1 large brown, all fish were 4-5 pounds. They had their bait rigs with big barbed hooks & bell weights on spinning rods and bag of worms. What really pissed me off was they claimed they had no idea where they were, what river they were in that made it OK. The fellow told me he killed the fish because he didn't want them to suffer. I asked if they had licences, they said they did, I asked if they read the regs... No they said. Met Gary from Wishin I was fishin drift co, he snapped a pic of thier licence plate & vehicle. I phone Rapp. the Co phoned me 15 min later and was heading to the poachers house to greet them. I hope they get what is coming to them. We need a Rapp sign at all launchs etc.. with their contact info in plain view. Dave
  5. What an awesome country we live in !! You never know what you`ll get. I have about 100 ft of snow between me and my boat right now. Anyone remember the dryfly fishing april 1 last year on midge .
  6. Timbertown might be a good bet.
  7. Well, laminate is not water resistant. with an hdf or mdf core the product will certainly show swelling along the seams in a short time. It is resonably priced though and would serve its purpose for a while then if not in good shape easily disposed. I recently installed a glue down vinyl floor that has the appearance of a hardwood but is very durable. It was installed in a restaurant, so a commercial situation and it performing quite well. Problem is I can't find the product any more. It comes in 3" wide strips 3' long. You can see if you could find that. Other wise make sure what ever product you get is designed for below grade, cork , laminate, engineered etc... Hope this helps, Dave
  8. If thats a point and shoot whats the trick to keeping the fish centered in the frame. Your holding the camera under water, mine doesn't have a flip out screen. I can only hold my breath so long. Great vid all the same, fish looked like he revived just fine. Good job, Dave
  9. Check out the Lumix, Zeis lens, HD video, love mine. Have had the cannons & the optio before and this is quite abit better. Can sell you my old Optio with extra battery if you like. Dave
  10. Our neighbor has an arsinal of many cat's that piss on my BBQ cover, tractor seat, lawn mower seat, boat covers. They fill our flower beds with their ginger fried beef[poop] all year long. I feel your pain, not much I can do but put the run on them any chance I get. Oh ya should be under a month till the skunks come around !! Dave
  11. Hooked a full tackle box by the handle in about 10' of water, Got a very large beaver last year on a hopper, it surfaced under my line then swam through hooking itself. Pretty good battle, he won of course. Oh and a bat once on the Crow.
  12. Ok you nut kickers, Here's a quick update you fisherpeople might like. We were going to build a custom rod in our booth & give it away free @ end of show. Probably a few builders kicking around the show so maybe a tad boring, seen one seen em all... Ok ,my bro who was a very premier builder through the 80's & 90`s came up with a new twist. How bought we take a very antique* early 1900`s green heart rod & rebuild it then give that away. I love classic heritage equipment & this is all of that. So come stuff your ballot in at the SouthBow booth & see if you can win it! This rod is amazing. Dave
  13. I use a small pair of needle nose to grip the tag end then use a loaded up bobbin to lash em on. Seems to save on the finger thrashing. Dave
  14. Merry xmas all! Got a new underwater camera for xmas. Lumix TS1 Thought I'd post an option for a different brand of camera. I have had the Optio w20 for the past 4 years & previous to that the Canon {film style} They both were simple to use but never really clear crisp quality. the under water feature i felt was pretty much useless unless you were under 3ft away depending on clarity of water & light. Seems like the optio should have had a stronger flash perhaps. Sorry camera guy's my experience doesn't go any farther than point & shoot. Anyhow I thought I'd point out a new guy to consider. A Lumix {Panasonic} TS1. It has a Ziess lens so that probably good. A wider angle lense than others. Records in HD. Seems to have a massive range of options { I'm on pg 40 of about 160 in the manual, so still learning.} Face recognition ,Intelligent auto Blah Blah Blah... I was salt water fishing a couple of weeks ago with a friend and he had a non water proof Lumix and his picture quality was amazing. I was wanting an upgrade for awhile now, Nothing was really that improved in the basic line up to me. Considered the Canon but it's features & pic quality didn't even compare to the Lumix, also they made it quite large for some reason? Any how I'm not a dealer, don't sell them in my store, just passing on some friendly info. If any one else has one maybe they can give me few pointers... one to check out if your in the market , reviews on the net sure help. Tx Dave

    Canon D10

Nice pic's Niel! Early morn mist is sweet. I see you broke in the new rod. WTG. You are pretty happy with the camera then, have you added any accesories? I'm wondering if you can put a polarized lense on it ? I've been running my Optio for several years now & like it but wish it had better flash? for improving the underwater shot's.Also if you could add lenses would be good. You can't beat the size though. How much do these Canon's cost if you don't mind me asking.? Tx Dave.
