  2. if my old memory is right.it's just across the border on the Blackfeet res.Was a very good place back then.Since they made it mandatory[passport] ,i'll stay on my side.Where the men are men but the sheep are dam nervous.
  3. With Prentice stepping down of his office/riding.We'er stuck with yet more costs.Retirement allowance,oh & yet another election because he quit..
  4. Personally i haven't had much luck ,with either.Putting the oil in the one product,PITA..Have a look on you tube for John Kent ties.He uses a product ,similiar.I'm going to give them a whirl..Will agre thin bodies are the key,in chironomid biulding
  5. hope he at least ,starts stocking UTC Thread....
  6. My condolences to family & friends.I looked forward to his AB.Fishing Guide every year.
  7. When I first met Jeff,it was at bass pro in Balzac. It was dec 10th,we were both there invited by Jim Stelfox. To attend the Regional Rnd.Tbl.Mtg.Seems Jeff had produced some important data/pictures that he wanted to get to Jim.Jeff presented proof that Rainbows & Cutthoat trout were surviving in Upper Kananakis Lk.The Fisheries had stopped stocking Rainbows, years ago.So how are they surviving. The pictures that Jeff produced helped Jim develop Upper & Lower Kanaskis lks.into Quality type fisheries.A couple of years later the gov't recognised that it was a very viable thing to save these fish & other fish across the prov.Quality lk.fisheries came about shortly after that.Jeff was a steward of Bullshead. He in fact contacted me feb 17 to tell that the fish were escaping over the spillway at Bullshead. On Friday Esrd. was still working on trying to stop the fish from escaping over the spillway.Leaving them to parish in the creek that often or nearly dries up yearly. My sincere condolences to your family & friends. May the lakes be full of trips.Tight lines & sinking corkies ....
  8. Oh MY.Jeff may the rivers be full of fish.Your rod bent in that wonderful arc.Your reel be a screaming.your line tight.Your corkie sinking.Keep a space by a shore line where we can chat...
  9. I use the thin stuff. If I want to build it up,i have a foundation. Are you using a Loon Lite? How long are you hitting it with the lite.
  10. taco; are you welding the pipes ends closed.me thinks micro organisms[rock snot] etc.. I went thru one of those, boat wash things the gov't was doing.Came back from Montana. They took the hubcaps,of the trailer wheels.flushed the bunks etc.

  13. Some of my go to easiest ,quickest ties. Are blk utc 70 thread,sz 14-10 ,redwire rib[small] white/blk bead 3/32 7/64.Grey utc70 [blue dun] small blk wire, white gills Sz 14 10,Depends on how intricate you want to get.The Fly bc forum brd..Has a tremendous amt. shown there.Anti static bag, very good for sliver flashy body material, blk. thread rib or wire red or blk.Want anymore pm me...As mentioned Brian chan,Phil Rowley,John Kent,Don A,Sfotf. Some put beads of metal on them, wgt. the fly etc.Personally I use tungsten, because I want the bug near the btm.,to stay there.Coat your tys with Sally Hanson Hard as Nails.Super glue..
  14. You can always attend as a guest.Get your feet wet.Alot of the patterns you mention are tyed there.Start out with a w/bugger, get accustomed to materials, thread pressure. Most times materials are free to try.As opposed to Fly shops, where every session you buy materials to tie.
  15. You can save some costs on floro. You only need 3-4' of floro.Depth is very important. So hypothetlly.btm of lake is 20' you should have a total leader length of approx.25'.You can go to phil Rowleys books or his you tube site.Scroll down he calls it naked fishing.Keeping your bug near the btm, using lead, wtd fly etc..tight lines
  16. Best of both worlds.Doubtful.Saying that though, education is key.As are regulation/enforcement.The most troubling issue for me is bait.Trying to get bait hook out of a pike, with out damageing the fish, slim imo.So NO BAIT.Next issue,is Pa takes the family fishing.Let say 5 fish limit, for him.3 kids under age 16,now we are at 20 fish.If you want to use the resource, you gotto have a lic.You have to make people accountable for there actions.
  17. Thanks Don.That should help those in gov' t see a wider spectrum & views. They always talk about stakeholders .Here is an oppurtunity,to complete it & add comments...brian
  18. :Birddog;I hav had a Honda 621 snowthrower.I don't no what a 1 stage is .It doesn't have the traditional auger. It has kinda paddles that have a rubber strip attached. It cleans right down to the concrete.I have owned it for 9 yrs, starts 1st pull after stored in a unheated shed.It has done 3 neighbors & my frt.drive/walk for all those yrs.Replaced the rubber on the paddles, last yr $69.00...Best investment I have ever made, for the winter..
  19. Well i was a bird/big game hunter. Then i bought a house & low a behold across the street was a gentleman. That taught the city of calgary parks & rec. course .On fly tying & casting, beginner & in termediate. We have been friends /neighbors for 34 yrs & still going. We have fished in ab.& bc.He got me started fishing in the bow & sponsored me in Westwind Flyfisher club in Calgary.Great bunch of guys,no politics just fishing & bs..I like Murray am retired [5.5 yrs],my fishing companion [Katie] & i,wet a line mostly in lakes, thoroughout our western provinces.tight lines & sinking corkies Brian
