  1. What if you left your net at home....
  2. Same 12lb Maxima...if you can land them quicker, isn't that more desirable. If the fish still eat the fly why would it matter. I don't break ANY off, I land them VERY quickly. Does it make you a better fisherman to nymph with 4lb test and loose flies and take 10 minutes to land a 2-3lb trout? To me, anything over about 2.5 minutes is unnecessary. 10lb Fluoro for stillwater chironomid fishing works fine...when they can sit and stare at the leader. In running water probably not much of an issue.... Why would you not use the strongest line you can get away with to land the fish in the quickest manner? Sorry the idea of "overkill" is lost on me Just an opinion
  3. This is too funny...I use 12lb Maxima for nymphing....like they really care when you are worming. Don't try it...it will never work. I tie my upper fly on to a perfection loop with a snelled fly
  4. I think the actual amount of poaching that goes on is staggering. The lack of funding directed toward enforcement in our province allows those with greedy desires to do pretty much whatever they want. There seems to be a slowly increasing number of folks who actually care about limiting their consumption of wildlife, but I think they are still vastly in the minority.
  5. Just bring your golf club. It really is the only place in the Bow with any quality fish. They have all transported to that 2km section. Please be courteous with other 72 fellows
  6. No white birds but I did see some Pintails today
  7. Only guys who catch LOTS of steelhead get one....maybe in a few more years you will get on the list....
  8. I just use some 40lb mono with some beads...fish don't seem to mind
  9. Now Don, we need to promote golfing not fly fishing. Fly fishing is very dangerous especially with all those big nasty dogs and big buck rainbows with nasty teeth. It's getting crazy busy down here in Cowtown
  10. Perhaps my first post was somewhat unhelpful. Be willing to move/explore. Here is my plan: Find the next stupid one (or for me, the next one that feels sorry for me)
  11. Probably a big winter kill....the river isn't good any more....lots of guys should take up golf and get off the river
  12. Looks very Cutty friendly Terry.
  13. Great shots. Thanks for letting us share the ride
  14. A sustained rain in a localized area, delayed snow melt.....perfect storm. The land was not going to soak up this freak event. I doubt we will see it again in our lifetimes
  15. monger

    Confused

Traditionally most are gone by the third week of April. Perhaps they will leave sooner with warmer temps
  16. But this could never be as fun as dragging a worm under a bobber Thanks for the show Taco
  17. Try some with a bit of a "gurgler lip" on the front as well
  18. Interesting to see the difference in spots on the creek browns vs the ones in the Bow
  19. Old farts, old fashioned rods and old trout....Perfect!
  20. Dee Chatani from Trout Chasers and Iron Bow has been around since the '80s. Lots of skill and experience to offer.
  21. Some good news for the fish being squeezed upstream. Long term adaptation appears to win out in the tough stretches
  22. Good job Lornce. Always a good thing to leave folks with a smile on their face. Thanks for giving back
  23. Went to Borger's nymph talk and Rowley's mayfly seminar. Both guys are good communicators and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. There is always something to learn if you keep your ears open. I also had a great chat with Tom Larimer. Awesome guy with lots of info to share. I shared some stories and info with some experienced guides and it is always helpful to get some different perspectives. If you go expecting to learn something, you will probably find it. If you are already completely awesome, you should stay home and keep looking in the mirror.
  24. I was thinking that wrestling a tuna would be good fun. The bait smashing fish on the east coast was intense. Throwing flies to big Blue fish would be very exciting
