Watermasters are pigs compared to the scaddens. Sit so low, and no rocker (and yes, this does add up)..hit a bit of whitewater and you're eating water to no end. If WM had the same boat design, i'd be inclined to go that way, but the scaddens are superior in handling and tracking. Other then the used-car salesman attitude that Scadden has (and the crappy accessories), I'd disagree that the WMs are the superior boat. Then again, if i was going to do it again, i'd buy the scadden boat, and then do everything else (oars/sidebags/seat) by myself. There is no way you're controlling a boat with 2 people in it with fins effectively enough to have both fishing decently.

are they being introduced, or are they being pushed out of their native habitat (by guys who are pissed about them eating brown trout)? Big difference
-
For some background, for those that haven't seen this argument (and don't understand why some of us jumped on him..) http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?showtopic=15906 I'd rather spend a day on a mediocre river with an otter, then a river that is artificially stocked because human beings have taken it past the brink.
-
That's because Don thinks that the Otters are the scourge of the earth, especially when it comes to brown trout populations......
-
yup, and us humans are impeccablely good for them. I'd much rather spend the time sharing water with an otter then the vast majority of humans. The anti-otter crowd is hilarious (i.e., ridiculous).

Can you provide a link where the risk has been assessed at 100%?

I would say that the vast majority of anglers compensate for lack of casting ability, by bumping up rod weight to make up for it...If that's what you have to do fine, but after you catch a few bonefish or steelhead on a 7 or 8 weight, skipping a 18" trout along the surface back to you is not a lot of fun. Day in and day out on the Bow, I carry a 5 weight. If i'm in my boat, i'll bring a 6 as a streamer rod and maybe a 4. I have never once wished for a 7 or 8 weight....not for the size of our fish, or what flies i'm tossing. (and i own a 7 and 8, they just aren't for trout)

Jensens And Legacy?
bcubed replied to fishinglibin's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
They are the same , and yes that's how you get there -
Pete, do tell?
-
That'd be great if it worked that way, but there are far too many 'dudes' who would rather throw in at police, and play tag with driftboat for hours...
-
Lots of pike come out of Pine Creek, which flows in just upstream of Policemens. Always lots of pike in that area
-
Is 17tg still shut? Haven't driven by recently but last time I did the chain was gone
-
Never made sense to me to throw a boat in at policemens to battle drift boats all day, when you could put in at Mackinnons, motor upriver to the Mansion run first thing, and fish down the Jansens and never see a soul
-
You obviously don't fish police to Mac much....

From BRS: closed till 2015 http://bowrivershuttles.blogspot.ca/2014/04/carselandjohnson-island-boat-launch-no.html?m=1 Now if only the jet boaters will realize that they have essentially private water from Jensens to Medicine Hat... Not sure why you'd want to fight with drifters on police everyday

Get out and get exploring. Hope no one is dumb enough to give you the river....it's not as rare as these guys pretend, but most people were smart enough to not make a movie about it Also think that other then the 'ol timers' interviews, it's a pretty woe is me movie. Guys complaining about not catching a fish in two or three days. Welcome to steelhead fishing

Country Pleasures has a lower Bow map with access and boat launches for free @ the shop
-
Illegal, and would be beyond *hit to cast

Don't have to throw $1000 at a Big Green Egg (which I would LOVE) to go charcoal. Good reviews on this one: http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/akorn-kamado-kooker-grillsmoker-red/6000084457919 Ive done a little smoking with the pouch on the gas grill and it's a pain in the ass to keep the temperature consistently low. I currently have a Broil King, and it's been awesome, but been looking hard at a smoker/charcoal one
-
I also think a 7 weight is overkill for the Bow...but you only gave me the two options.
-
8 weight is serious overkill for the Bow and the vast majority of bull trout. You'll be fine using a 7 for pike (they don't pull hard, just need a rod to turn over big flies)

What Is The Most Common Hook And Size Used For Sjw
bcubed replied to ghus32's topic in Fly Tying Bench
Murray is bang on, if you're fishing those in 8s and 10s your likely not doing damage. The guys fishing 1/0 or size 2's are certainly damaging fish more then a size 10. I've pulled enough 1/0s of these from fish and trees to know they're not uncommon. -
What Is The Most Common Hook And Size Used For Sjw
bcubed replied to ghus32's topic in Fly Tying Bench
I know Murray just said that's what he used, but those 37160s are brutal on small fish. Braining or poking eyes out...not a good thing for the little guys. these ones are the ones i'm talking about Personally, when i tied worms, i just use a large grub hook: -
I can play the golf analogy... If guys spent half the time that they do trying to perfect their swing on learning on how to cast better...I guarantee you'd see less TFOs being used. The average casting ability on the Bow is pretty low, due to the nature of what is needed to catch fish. Hucking a triple nymph rig works just fine, it's not pretty. Throw those anglers on a spring creek with spooky rising fish every day, and you'd see a big change in the approach to the sport. not that i'm complaining...leave the rising fish alone

I'm highly skeptical that a shop employee ranked a rod that they did not carry above two they did. My opinion is, that yes they have a good warranty. But you are definitely going to be using it. the number of rod breakages they have is insane.
