Looking For A One Man Float Boat Thoughts?
Jayhad replied to Vitalshok's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I never said the watermaster wasn't stable or tough, and the Bow isn't really a river that stresses a watercraft.... WaterMasters handle like a brick, and they are too expensive for what you get. -
Looking For A One Man Float Boat Thoughts?
Jayhad replied to Vitalshok's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
If you are going to buy a watermaster save your cash, head to Canadian tire buy a Fishhunter for $89 and a piece of plywood for $25...... its about the same quality and easy of use just $1000 less. Watermasters were awesome years ago when there were no other option, no they are outdated. The Scadden boats are way easier to row, drift and pack. -
muha has it, palmer schlappin. I will use two or three feathers if I want more "body" and sometimes I will palmer it backwards as I feel the fibres don't fold over as easily in water

George, the faster you run the jet the smoother the ride CGYGUY, I have seen srd multiple times on the bow. They are typically in a green canoe, with rods and in shirt or coat covering their uniforms. The major problem with srd visibility is that there is so few of them in the province. There have been times when I have called and an officer calls back to tell me he is the closest to Calgary and just leaving Sundre. That said, I did get a call this week letting me know that I should be expecting a cheque soon from my last call in.

First, try not to hotspot areas in your posts you may get no responses what so ever. Second, more time on the water is what you need, the only way to learn how to hook up on streamers is to actually do it..... practice, practice, practice. you will want to present your streamers in places where ambush predators hang out, trout love structure, swing past structure. Third, some guys streamer fish throughout the winter but your best bet will be nymphing, as the water cools fish get slow and generally won't chase food items unless it drifts right by it's face.

you can save a ton of effort by hiring a guide and paying attention to what he/she teaches throughout the day

Size of the water..... dude you asked for input and now you are arguing your points you asked on, just fish your switch if that's what you want.
-
I think switches are to big to be swinging around on the small waters I chase bullies on. There are some waters that would suffice, ie; oldman. But just imagine trudging to the next hole sporting a 11 footer. My bully specific rods are shorter than the typical rods I use just because of the small waters.

I have been in this exact situation, I ask to take pictures of them and their fish, I wish them a good day and high tail it to cell service, call them in and then go back to the location and watch the hilarity ensue. Wait 3 weeks and cash your cheque

I carry a third oar on everything but the bow, I have a 3-piece Carlisle. It fits neatly in my rowers bench..... but most the time I just toss it in the side well.

That's a classic mooching rig, That Alvey reel turns so the reel face faces away from you so you can do some shore casting. The Daiwa is good for pretty much any middle of the road sized salmon mooching..... get some hoochies

Chota actually provides sheet metal screws for their boots

Monger You give some great info thank you. first and foremost I am not a Scientist, nor have I ever trained in sciences....... all I have to go off of is my personal observations and I have no idea how to adequately manage a cull without destroying the fishery. That said I would like a tag system, draw or a 1 a year slot to cut on your licence like BC has for shuswap trout. Really anything that could pull a pre-determined percentage of fish out; what that percentage is, I have no idea. Last time I fished it was in May after driving back from some upper bow fishing we swung in to make a few casts. I still had a sex-dungeon and a minnow pattern rigged up and I cast in, within seconds I had two 26ish fish on at the same time. I find I am fairly sated after just a few casts on the lower K. Is the Lower K too easy? I find it is, and to me that says there is to many fish for the feed available (but remember I'm ignorant to the science of chars.) Have I fished the whole lake ? no. Is it possible that I only fish spots that contain fish? yes Do I fish the upper outflow? No Do my observations prove there is a healthy population? no Do I have the answers how to complete this plan? no Would I like to see some big bullies(30"+) come from the Lower K? yes

New To Fly Fishing - Help And Advice Will Be Greatly Appreciated!

pay a guide to take you out for a day, you will learn years of info -
Personally I'd get a stealth craft. I m a big fan of honeycomb foam/plastic core boats, a honeycomb core boat will have buoyancy as well as displacement and that can save you if you take the wrong drop and take on water.

An Introduction/moving To Calgary
Jayhad replied to pblundon's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Philip, Any ideas what sector of the city you are going to move to? What age group are you in? A couple of decades ago I made the move out here from the wet coast, and after only having to know depth and colour it can be a tough transition. -
Fishy I fished your strip of water only one on a streamer..... thought I might see you down there.
-
good maybe those broken faced mud trout will get a chance eat something that doesn't stick them this season.... poor little guys, dudes from the wet coast call Livingston fish smiley because everyone is busted up.
