Your Largest Bow River Trout/char
bhurt replied to bigbowtrout's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
These were both caught (not by me but I helped net) on the bow river about 3/4 years ago -
Its kool that there is an intergraded system, but why not just buy some cheaters and cut your sink tips to the corresponding sizes? Right now I have a 2 foot and a 5 foot floater and I have my tips cut so in the end the sink tip and floater is only 10 feet, only cost roughly about $30 and I have two set ups, probably alot cheaper. I can see where the benifit of having the intergraded line but you don't have any of the loop to loop connections inside the rod guides so not really a issuse. Probably alot more to these rio products then I can see such as taper of the floater to sink tip, etc.... but I dunno I much rather make mine to what I like and save some money, but its diffently a cool thing.

Just thought I would say I have 1 hour before I get out of jail, yeeeeeah -
Neil, You should try the rainshawon blank, I got a 5wt 10foot 6 and I placed a three inch handle on the bottom. Not finished it yet as I just don't have the time to finish the epoxy but I think this would be a sweet rod, once I get mine done we should hit the river and try each others out. Regardless of it, looks pretty sweet. BTW what line are you planning on using

mmmmm buttercups, you going to bring me some to work, if not stfu -
Here is my take on fishin etiquette. What I do is I go up to the person regardless to weather they are fly fishin or using center pin, spin gear, etc... and ask them how their day is going, having any luck, what are they using, I share some of my stories with them and they share some with me, and by that point the person is very open to you (I am ever the salesman) and I find I usally can find a spot where ever I want. I do not bring aggression with me, cause if I come up to a person very aggressivly then they are going to treat me very aggressivly. Now what do I do if someone intrudes on me is I calmly go over and talk to them, if they do not want to hear anything I have to say then I usally get up and leave with some very cheecky comments, usally something like, "YOU THINK WE WERE BACK IN THE DAYS OF SAGRAGATION WHERE CERTAIN PEOPLE COULD FISH WERE EVER THEY WANT REGARDLESS TO WHO THEY ARE!!!!" Or if the person gets me really steamed up I sit on the bank and toss small rocks into the hole were I was pushed out, if the person says something I shrug my shoulders and say "Isn't pay back a bitch!" Everyone has there diffrent view on what should be done and what shouldn't be done, I always suggest talking to the person calmly ay first, if it comes down to physcial violence or you feel threaten just get up and walk away, the bow is a aswome river with lots of fish everywhere and one jackass isn't worth ruining your day. Remeber things have a way of coming back and biting jackasses in the rear end when they are not expecting it, but I find beeing friendly and open with others usally ends up good in the end. Remeber good things comes to good people, and when life throws you lemonds, paint that *hit gold.

:$*%&: Well let me start off by saying I am absoultly bored to death right now at work and all I have had for customers are some pretty strange people (saying it the nicest way I could think of) Why I keep on secheduling myself for stat hoildays I have no clue, probably because of the endless bitchin and complaining I would hear from my team and I just dopn't want to handle that kind of *hit, and probably because I get paied very well, even though the goverment taxes the crap out of me. But I have 3 hours left and I think I see a inch of dust forming on my computer screen from the lack of use. So let the count down begin.

I say neither for a 2 big reasons reasons. 1) Since Dyral came in (with the exception of this year) he has made the playoffs something this prodesasors (sp) couldn;t do for 10 years. 2) Even though we fell apart close to the olympics we had one of our best starts in francise history Like I said before we need consistacy which getting rid of coaches and gm's every year they have a bad year does not create any type of consiancy in your players as each and every coach or gm has their own way of doing things, if we didn;t make playoffs for two years in a row and have a dismal mid point again like this year there might be some reason to look at the sutter but not every coach or gm can be sucessful every year espically in the NW Pacific Division where anything can happen at any time, by far one of the tuffest divisions in the NHL, with Van, Minasota, Calgary, colorado all in the same division its pretty tuff to be a power house every year. -
I personally think it was the curse of the oilers, the guys next to you Mike didn't look like they were having any problems catching fish....... Nice brown by the way.

I'll never cheer for edmonton even though we needed thenm to win some games for us to get into the playoffs I dunno I just can't bring myself to cheering for them. Even when they were in the finals a couple of years back I just couldn't cheer for them, my line was I really don't care who wins cause calgary isn't in. Oh even though this is not hockey reletaed I'll never cheer for the eskimo's I much rather give birth to a flaming porcipine through my left nostral then cheer for them. -
I actually use a Hatch 9wt reel on my 12 foot 6wt Goran Andersonl. Now a little background info about myself, after playing numerous years of football my casting should is absoultly garbage (ask some of my fishin friends they have actually heared me dislocating my shoulder while setting a hook on a single hand rod) so to put it plainly my should is garbage and gets sore very quickly. I hardly notice the weight of my reel on my shoulder (even though it is big on my 6wt rod) the big reason I do not feel the weight of my reel is cause when I am spey casting I do not use my shoulders for the casting as the end of the rod is roughly at hip level and my top hand is roughly about level with my chest and I use my hips and body to make the cast with little use of the shoulder. I think as it has been stated that it comes down to personal preference, if your casts are nice and you are catching fish then does the weight of the reel really matter. I think some people's problems when it comes down to fishing they are worrying about weather there equipment is correct or weather they are doing it correctly thus they are always fighting their cast or the equpiment they are using and taking away from the catching part. I know when I am not in the groove then I don't catch *hit and it usally comes down to me fighting something, when I am not fighting anything then I catch fish. In the end I say use what you want to use and give the finger wave to the rest that seem like they have to tell YOU WHAT TO US. (Please note this is a general statement and not directed at anyone in particular)
