Official Flames 2008/2043 Seasons Thread
bhurt replied to SanJuanWorm's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
The problem with calgary in the past is as soon as a coach has a bad year or a GM has a bad year they get rid of him and replace him, consitance starts at the top and when you have a routating door of coaches and gm's you really think the player are going to play consistance then? We all like to bitch and moan about the coaches but really in the last couple of years how many H.C have we had, hmmmm lets see Daryl, Playfair, Keenan, and now brett To me it seems like we just replace a coach every year, and I am positive that each coach had their own system and way of doing things, with that in mind are you really surprise with how inconsitance the players are. I say leave things as they are and allow the team and the coaches to gell as a team, no need to replace anyone (well players are always beeing replaced but I am talking about coaches) and let them start building a team, and not a road stop. -
You gotta remeber these reels are not made for Fresh water fish these are machined SALT WATER reels. And I do not find my 3wt reel heavy at all on my 3wt rod.
-
I use a 5wt and have a 7wt Guideline bullet (head and shooting line intragrated) with 40 feet of mono and it fills it up perfect. Also I have been using the 5wt for the past year and it is not overkill in my opion.

I think the flames are going to take it all, cause I am a REAL FAN of the flames What happens happens, at the end of the day I am still cheering for my team regardless to what happens. Daryl has done aswome since coming to the flames, do you remeber how good the flames were before Daryl came, if I remeber correctly they went 10 years without making the playoffs at least since Daryl has been here we are at least now making the playoffs alot better then nothing. Also is it just me or do the flames play in one of the hardest division in the league, alot of great teams in the NW Pacific division, and the western conferance has the potentional to dominate the eastern league (dunno now with sid and ovekin in the east) so there is no easy match up PERIOD for the first round of the western division playoffs. Have faith and cheer for YOUR team -
Personally own the 3wt 5wt and 9wt and absoultly love them. A great thing about these reels too are that they are salt ready so if you ever find yourself wanting to fish salt water you will already have the reel for it. Very durable also, I can count how many times I have dropped mine on cement and not a scar on it, looks just like the way it did the day I bought them. The great thing with the inclosed drag system is that there is no mataince what so ever on them, all you have to do is take off the spool and whipe just to keep it clean of dirt and grit cause it will make a gross sound when the spool, this happens when you have something grinding against the spool and reel chase.

The only problem I have is I do not drive so sometimes spots if I don't have a ride or transit doesn't go near I am pretty much hooped. Maybe nights that we have league we have a netural spot that everyone is able to get to and then we can go there.

First Time Trying Out The Spey = First Fish On The Spey!

Right on dude, these are the kind of stories I like to read. Can't wait for the first two weeks of April, since I am off its time to slam the bow. -
My mother's car was also broken into on Saturday morning but when they saw the club they left it (they did try cutting the steering wheel but realized that they would of been a pain in the ass, so now we need a new steering wheel for it.)

Ryan, Happy Bday you big goof (j/K) -
Well maybe if teams invested the time and money like we do in our women's team it might be diffrent. Howabout this howabout some of the european countries come to canada or the USA a couple of times a year and play in some tournments. I think it is unfair to our women's team that works very hard to accoplish what they have accoplished only to be treated or viewed like they are, maybe the real problem isn't enough competiontion but maybe its other countries don't care about their women's team, I know here and in the states we are very proud of our teams hence why we dominate so much.

Collections & Credit Rating
bhurt replied to ÜberFly's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Ron, Just curious as to why this question is highly inappropriate, its not like he said the name of the friend or the collection agency, the company he use to work for or anything else person? Just curious as to why you see it as highly inapproraite so I don't make the mistake in the future and post something that could be veiwed as highly inappriorate. -
Don, I really don't know where you live so I can not comment on where you are, but I hear you, since you have posted this post I have been watching my neibourhood very closly as it made me think some (yeah I know me thinking is a very dangerous thing) what are kids really doing with their time. I wanna see if the amount of kids out will increase as the weather gets better or if it stays the same, only time can tell.

Don, If it matters in the Summer and Spring with the CMFA (Calgary Midget Football Association) CBFA (Calgary Bantan Football Association) and the CPFA (Calgary Pee Wee Football Association) there are roughly 1200 players every year ranging from the ages of 6 to 15 years of age. Most teams practice 4 nights a week, for roughly 2 to 3 hours a night and games on Saturdays (Roughly 2 Hours) I don't know about the soceer in town but I know it is very huge, the feild infront of my house is always jammed packed because of the 8 soccer feilds and this I would say would be for at least 3/4 of the years (Only time nothing is ever happening is when there is snow) I also can walk to a few ball dimonds that is by my house and always find a little league game playing. I also don;t even want to think about the hockey in my neck of the woods but I do know it is very very very big. I constantly see kids riding there bikes and "Playing War" in Fish Creek Park by my house, and the private community lake is always jam packed with a ton of people (Kids, Teenagers, and Adults) in the summer time. I think we do not see kids doing random things now a days because there are a ton of sport leagues that kids can now play in. I know when I came up to canada, for football there was only 1 league and for certain age group now we have 4 leagues (I left out our atom league cause they are still in the works with making it an actually league right now it is diffently a "Bush League") with over 1200 kids particapating in it. When I was a kid all we had was the radio and 3 channels on the telvision and my grandparents use to kick us out of the house or put us to work, so as you can guess we choose to go out and play rather then hang around the house and be put to work.

I thought Bourder would be soild for us but like most after the last two games I say get him out of net and put in Lung (Even though I dislike him cause he plays for vancouver, I think he will play alot better then Bourder) As for last nights games, I missed the first period but I gotta say we looked damn good infact the americans looked pretty good too, best game I have watched so far in the oympics. As for the russians I am not too scared of them after they loss to Solvack. I think the team to be feared this year is the americans, but I think if he can get our *hit togather we can also be a force to recon with, only time will tell. Heatly and crosby are looking aswome too. GO CANADA GO

After reading don's post I went out to the community lake and took a look around, lots of pond hockey beeing played and still a ton a people sleding down the icy hill and having a blast, it could be just the neighbourhood I live in or something but I saw lots of kids out today playin.

If you guys get a chance try out the Scott Mackenzie DXT series, sweet rods. I like using my Loop Goran Anderson 6wt 12foot for nymphns and small streamers, and my Loop Multi 7wt 12foot for tips and big nasties.
-
Smitty, Here si the thing, I never said crosby wasn't a good player or did not ddeserve to be there I think he needs more time before he can be a effective captain, lots of great players out there that don't have a cup, you going say iggy shouldn't be there cause he has no cup either and has *hit the bag before in playoffs, but the time he has been in the NHL he deserves to be a captain, I still think crosby should not be a captain, but hey that is just my opion.

Just read about this and I also feel for Jay, I remeber when I was younger standing outside the Backalley watching a fight in the park lot and beeing stabbed in the back three times. Hopy you get better jay. On a side note, the biggest problem with our justice system is that if Jay would of fought back then he can be charged with assualt too, its crazy how our properity can be destroyed and we can't do anything about but call the cops and have them show up once the crimals are long gone. -
Been using it for the past two years. Its the only type of thread I use and I use it on everything from dries to streamers. Highly recommened.

I agree 100%, but what gets me is how hard the USA and Evirmonetal groups are attacks tour "Dirty Oil" but yet they are not much better, I guess when I was growing up this was called double standards now I guess its just called accatable
