  1. Hey brian, what about the 90's and you complaining about them losing 5 times in the first round of the playoffs at least they can now make the playoffs instead of not making them, which would you like?
  2. Mike why not do something like have matches for the entire year drawen up with dates, then people that go on hoildays can make matches up BEFORE they leave. As for unexpected things I would give a week max and no more then say 2 or three make-ups depending on the situation.
  3. If I asked nicely would you guys stop using the big words, us dumb ones are getting a headache.....
  4. Smitty, I actually encourage you to do that, that way I can give a demostration on how not to do a baptisim in a river.
  5. What the hell you guys don't wear that stuff??????
  6. I went to the site that was provided and right under these regulations there was something intresting, it stated the following: This brochure is NOT a complete listing of the National Parks Fishing Regulations and has no legal status. More information is available from park wardens and park information centres. I also went to the Canada department of justice for some clarification on the whole lead thing and this is what I found. “lead jig” means one or more weighted hooks that contain more than 1.0 per cent lead by weight and that are tied to a fishing line and used for catching fish; (turlutte plombée) “lead sinker” means an object that contains more than 1.0 per cent lead by weight and that can be used to sink a fishing line by attachment of the object to the fishing line; (lest en plomb) Oh and btw way, yes Mark I misread it but my point was it is not illiegal to have lead flies there are just regulations to the amount.
  7. So let me get this straight if the fly is under 50 grams and has lead on it then it is legal to use....... I said I would fight it (I did not give a weight just said if it was in my box) and I am accused misleading which I am not because it is LEGAL to use lead as long as it is under a certain weight limit, maybe I should of said a weight limit, but honestly what fly out there is ober 50 grams, I wrapped a Mustad hook 79580 Size 2 hook with 0.35 lead from top to bottom and it weighted 28.765grams not even close to 50grams thats a pretty damn big hook with tons of lead to even get close to 50grams
  8. If I was fined for having lead flies in my box I would fight it, cause there is no proff that I was using it and its not illiegial to have. It would be just like fining you for not having your barbs pinched in your box. Oh btw nothing wrong with beeing cheep, it just makes you smarter then the rest of us that keeps on spending our paycheaques on fly ting material.
  9. After reading your artical Mark, I really hope the Saints Lose. As a coach and a long time player I find it discusting that a coach would teach his players to try and take out a another player. Don;t get me wrong we teach to hit hard and make a impact but I have never taught a player to go out and intentally hurt another player, possible endding his career. But here is how I see it. Colts will win purly because of experince. Sure the Saints have a good Defence but they lack the experince needed to play in the big game. Once Manning played in his first Superbowel he gained alot of experince. It should be an intresting game and I am hoping it will be exciting but hey it is the Superbowel and its been a long time since I was sitting on the edge of the chair watching the game. Anyone holding a Superbowl party?
  10. First of all Danton did not go back to St. MAry's Univiserity in Halifax to get a education, only reason he enrolled is because of a loop hole in the rules, which would allow him to play for a max. of 3 years. Lets get real if he could of played in the NHL you really think he would of gone back to University, I think not, saying he is trying to get a education is nothing but a smoke screen to make it sound like its okay. As I see it he is stealing time from other students that are there for real reasons and not just to play hockey For more information http://www.thestar.com/sports/college/article/750047 Here is also a small write up about his career and you can see he has had other problems other then the recent ones, he's had problems with his family, and NJ which was the cause of him beeing traded to St. Louis. THere are more problems then we think. Selected 135th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Danton was a left winger for the St. Louis Blues, who traded a 3rd round draft pick to New Jersey to obtain him. He played 68 games for the Blues in the 2003–04 season. While with the Devils organization, he changed his last name from Jefferson to Danton after becoming estranged from his family. He admitted he adopted the surname "Danton" from the name of a 13-year old boy at David Frost's hockey camp, because the name sounded "cool". He also feuded with New Jersey general manager Lou Lamoriello and was suspended by the team, prompting his eventual trade to St. Louis.[1] During the 2000 Memorial Cup in Halifax, Jefferson commented in the press that Brad Richards wouldn't last five games in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL)[2] and later refused to shake Richards' hand after he had been named tournament MVP.[3] Danton took university correspondence courses at Queen's University while imprisoned. So as you see he already had a free paied for university courses while in jail and he wants more education, I think he needs to find the money to do that, also while we are talking about money, where is the money he made while playing in the NHL, if he pissed it away its his fault and he needs to find the money other ways and not take away from students that really could use that money to go to university.
  11. Well After reading Taco's post for a couple of years I always had thought he might of been the victim of some imbreeding, but then after meeting him at the breakfest I came to the realization that he just another Southern Albertain........
  12. I like the idea quite a bit, have you ever thought about putting two white biots on the top for wings, I think it would be absoultly aswome. If you want to add weight and not use a bead head or small dumb bell eyes, I use lead sheets that I can wrap around the hook (many other members have posted about doing this in the past) then the lead can be hidden under all the dressing. Just a suggestion.
  13. With the blue bin's in my nebourhood I always see a sea of them down all the alley's on pick up day then they are gone the next day. So I would have to say in my area of the city they are beeing used, now how much are in them I do not have a clue as I do not go through other people's garbage, yuk......
  14. OMG does this sound like Lynn could be stalking me now????? Never had a stalker before and it could be intresting....... *Disclaimer* Lynn knows I am joking around with her, better go check my face book now to make sure there is nothing there......
  15. Don't get me wrong I am not trying to start any problems I am just looking at this from every possable angle and trying to think of anything that could come up, you know playing the role of Devil's Advocate. For me I could really care less if I caught anything or not, I just don't want to see this go to shits because of a few bad apple's (Once again not saying there is any right now, but you can never know!)
  16. Sun, To answer your question about what a hockey player can do to help others other then play hockey is simple he can work for any NHL team to help new young hockey players deal with emitional stress of dealing with stuff such as bad agents. He can also work for minor hockey teams and work with players that have a shot in the NHL and give them tools to help them in case they are faced with situations like he went through. He has first hand experince in these things and can be a great benifet to the Hockey world without having to play. I am more then willing to forgive people but they have to face the music espically with anything that has to do with murder. Now to do with this particular thread, I think a pie in the face is a minor thing, still it is assuslat and should be treated like a assusalt, and if the person gets deported then fine. I see no diffrence in what this person did and what danton did, what caused me some shock is that you said they should be whipped, the person is not even found guilty yet but you are willing to pass judgement on the person.
  17. I don't want people to know who I am though, might ruin my rep, not like I have any type of reputation but I might one day..........
  18. Mike, As for flies go are you restricted to what type of fly? Dry, Streamer, Nymph????? I think if it is a one fly deal you'll see more people using streamers and wet's and swingging them then Nymphs or dries. For weight, could we use lead wrapped flies (as long as they are underneither the dressing of the fly, kind of like I understand they allow in BC, don't know cause never fished there) As can you use diffrent tips (Fast sink, Intermideate Sink or Slow Sink) or are we restricted to just floating lines? What time would this league take place during the week day (most of us do work during the day) I know these are things that will most likely be looked at in the future, but they are things we should start thinking about. Also just another suggestion. I know this is a friendly thing but I have seen some strange *hit come out of friendly competition and what I suggest is that we should have a pannel of a group of people to make final desision that are not part of the league, these people would come up with final desisions on arguments or disagrements.
  19. Sundance, I am confused, you are willing to let a person convicted of trying to have someone hired to kill someone else be forgiven and return to a normal life, but yet you slam someone else for attacking someone. Will you now forgive this person and allow them to go back to their job and live a normal life? This is a great example how a normal joe blow (well as normal as a animal activist can get) gets looked at for doing something wrong and how a professional althelte is viewed diffrent. How come we veiw these things so diffrent?
  20. You can count me in, would this be a team event or a indivudual. Just a suggestion but maybe make a $10 regeistration fee then we take the money and donate it to trout unlimited or streamwatch?
  21. If I lost my job because I was convicted of trying to hire someone to kill someone else then shame on me and YES I do deserve to lose my job. Infact since I thought I had the right to deciede weather someone should live or die then most of my priviliages I enjoy should also be stripped. The simple fact is this isn't about a dui or something stupid, this is about someone who thought they had the right, regardless of the mental anguish he might of been going through, to deceide weather someone should lived or die. Do we know live in a society where if we are mentally abused we have the right to seek capatail punishment on that person. Its time for Denton to join the rest of us, you think he would be reduced to minial wage, I highly doubt that, he will probably go on and write a book about his troubled times, and make a boat load of money. As I saw from his interviews is nothing but poiliticing himself back into the NHL. Just like Flurey did with his book and his blog entry, great way to create public sympthay or empathy, either which way you looking at what they are pimpin out.
  22. Rick, The funny thing is I keep on hearing on the news out here how they say there is going to be no problem that if the temps stay below freezing thwey can make snow, but if the snow is melting out there I doubt it is elow freezing, surprising how the media can twist things. Hey think of it this way though, for ski jumping instead of landing on snow they can land in a swimming pool instead.
  23. Jack, You guys get any snow yet for the olympics???????
  24. Regardless to what Frost may have done to him hiring someone to kill someone else is still against the law. Like I said before if it was you or me or any jo blow then we would have the books throwen at us, why is Denton diffrent? Here is another example, Linsay Lohan was pulled over for drinking and driving with a suspended licence, and then when they checked the vechicle they found cocaine inside the vechicle. What did she get, a fine and have to go to a country club for rehab. If it was you or me we would be throwen in jail for driving with a suspend licence, driving under the influnce, and also charged with drug possesion, and most likely have to do a piss test and then get charged with internal possession of a drug. Why are we diffrent from other people. It should be the same regardless to who you are.
  25. Sun, There is a big diffrence between trying to have someone killed (for whatever reason) and doing something wrong, if I tried to have someone killed then I most likely would spend some time in jail and when I returned to normal life it would be very tuff for me to find a job as I would be a convicted criminal(I belive he was charge with consipirecy to commit murder) so why should he be any diffrent. Ask any convicted criminal how tuff it is for them to find a job once released, you hear stories all the time about them returning to crime cause they can't return to a normal life. Also I bet he is on a scholership to play hockey, in my mind this should also be stripped from him for his actions, why get a free education after trying to have someone killed. Regardless to what it is he still tried to have someone killed and that is never a good thing and there should be no exceptions regardless to who he is. Justice is suppose to be blind but it seems to always favour someone that is in the lime light.
