  1. The others might do this also but something i like about Mel is for a little bit extra he will keep your truck at his house overnight if you are doing a multi day float and camping on the river.
  2. Hodgman has a couple new boot systems out with interchangeable soles. They twist and lock in the system is WAY better than the korker system and the boots are bomb proof with great support. They are new this year and a redesign of their old boots. Their old boots were pretty crappy. They really got it right on the new design. They dont shrink when dry either.
  3. Ive had this problem also. Solution is a plastic bin full of water with a light disinfecting solution. Boots off toss em in the bin.
  4. not mentioned also is compression waves. If you are walking out into the water if you make a wave by pushing water you will put them down. Sometimes it is painful how slow you need to move. In some spots it is near impossible not to do this with out shutting down the fish. So you need to wade out to position with as little disturbance as possible and just stand and wait for things to consistently start up again. Sometimes this takes 10 min sometimes 45. This is why i fish with a bobber. I don't have the patience for that *hit.
  5. I have Hodgmans 3 in 1. Its warm and on the rainiest of steelheading days-weeks it has kept me warm and dry for 3 seasons now. There are also hand warmers in both the removable liner and the waterproof jacket.
  6. I wish with the change they would have made pictures easier to post.
  7. I second what Burning has said. For example i think the TFO BVK casts like garbage but i know Lots of people who love them; However i think the TFO Impact is an amazing rod and one of my favorite rods out of a lot of other very expensive rods that i own. It really is all about what works for you, I would also mention that as you are looking for a rod the same brand and wt in a rod will cast totally different according to its length. Test the length you intend to buy.
  8. Seems like a management issue to me after reading the article
  9. bcube Bron you are both invited to come fishing on my boat any time only condition is it needs to be both of you at the same time.
  10. There are some resident ones below police that i see every year floating by. I haven't seen them this year but they are big ones.
  11. People want jet boats off the river. Ill trade mine in as soon as they put a couple more launches between police and Mac. As it stands now the only way for me to get a float in after work is to have a boat with power. Drift boat is a far better tool for the Bow however i would never use it with our limited access. I hope access is improved.
  12. Just a reminder to all who own a boat. It is not okay to park on the launch and get ready... Even if you think there is room for another boat to squeeze by and launch, it is still not okay... Even if you just need to "quickly put on your waders" then launch and get out of the way, it is not okay...Even if you are the only boat around. it is not okay... Get ready in the parking lot, then launch. Thanks. I don't usually get so bitchy but its happened 2 mornings in a row now.
  13. I was just going off what the charts were showing and there has been a steady decline at the higher elevations and on undammed rivers and creeks. I guess what you guys are saying is we will see another jump in the flows on undammed waters? I dont count dammed waters because they can blow them out whenever they want. Im talking about flows on uncontroled water do you think there will be another surge of water? or will the decline continue? ........... Bow river flows are down today. As with the stone fly fishing i am not talking about just the dry fly fishing. I consider the whole cycle because for me the pre nymphing is just as awesome as the dry and as soon as she starts to drop and is the color of tea with 2 creams stone fly season for me is ON.
  14. Looking at all the river flows and it looks like everything is on its way down. If we don't get the massive rains that usually come in June it could be a great opener. Keeping fingers crossed.

    Waders

I love my Simms but for the $$ not thanks i fish a lot and i can get 2 years no problems out of simms small manageable issues start to show up for year 3 and 4 and then somewhere in year 4 they go into the garbage. I tried out some Hodgman waders for the last 3 years and for the $$ Im way further ahead. Their new line up is awesome. To rub the bias of this. I have found that all the technology with major bands is pretty much the same now. Everyone is using basically the same seam tech and the multiple layers. I say find ones that have the best fit and good function. Warranty blah blah simms blah. Warranty is also the same with all the major labels. Im going on 2 seasons with a pair of Hodgman H5's they have been on 4 steelhead trips climbing through the bush and no problems yet.
  16. full sink line. Leech with a foam body marabou tail and hackle up the body.Fish it like a boobie.
  17. lol
  18. If you have never been in the situation it would blow your mind how quickly a sideways boat hung up on the bottom will flip. Please if you are new to rowing and remember one thing it is this. Keep the nose of the boat pointing down stream. A sideways boat will cause problems. Glad everyone is okay.
  19. drove over the river this morning its dirty but there is a bit of clarity to it still. Good streamer conditions.
  20. Hmmm this seems very familiar........LOL!
  21. I would help out but mine is still in storage. Im pulling it out Friday but couldn't help till Monday. Let me know if you still need help on Monday or later next week. If you are thinking of using a jet boat to pull on your boat Im not cool with doing that with my boat so if that's the plan Im out.
  22. BCUBE! I caught a rock on the Vedder just last week! they do wake you up and fight pretty good. -Gull -Bat -dead burbot (hooked in the mouth) -my fingers (often) Rickr hasn't posted but he hooked a Beaver one night swinging stones. He swears it was a fish but deep down he knows it was a beaver.
  23. Nothing beats a Hardy.
  24. Thank you.
  25. Hi I have an old bamboo rod that is in excellent condition except two small areas where the finish is a bit worn and cracking. Does anybody know someone in Calgary that does repair and clean up on old bamboo rods? Thanks.
