  1. Oh and to add to DrBT, make sure you pack out those beer cans, and cigarette/cigar butts, and pick up a little bit after others that don't give a *hit!! P
  2. Yeah Brads got it right.. Try to give them a good football field (100 meters or so), if possible... Make sure you got the RAP # handy as well to report all those poacher with bait!! P
  3. LoL!! "In for a penny in for a pound"... You'd do it for a Sage, but not a TFO... Come on... Same, same! (not in a rod, but in the rationale)! LoL Hey being an "idealist", doesn't make me perfect!! P
  4. Great story! Thanks for sharing! P
  5. Wolfie, take it to Springbrook/TFO in SE Calgary, and pay the $30 and get a new section and you'll have an extra rod (or if you are missing the butt section, say it broke and you lost it in the drink!) Worth a try!! P
  6. LMFAO!! Nicely done Mike, nicely done!! P
  7. Burrrr!! P
  8. Yikes!! I would think that at least one of you is going for a swim or will be hooked up!! Might make for interesting casting, as well!! P P.S. And it's "my dad and I"!! LoL
  9. Careful Matt, by diss'in Loop, you might just get your post removed like mine was (even though I wasn't diss'in Loop)!! LoL
  10. Mike, are you getting it repaired? P
  11. Hey Andy,. Welcome to FFC (and to the "bowghetto", as well ) Some recent references to fishing the NW sections of the Bow, but fishing is never as good as down south (plant life the major contributing factor). Fish can be had, but you usually have to work for it. Fishing is best at dawn or dusk. Search for "Kevin's" recent posts as well as a few others. I've pretty much give up on the NW section, but that's just me ;-) Tight lines! Peter name='andy924' date='Aug 24 2009, 03:13 PM' post='98105'] Hi all, New to Bowness (and the Bow) and tried fishing in the park a couple of time this week (between 85th St bridge and Stoney Trail bridge). Didn't have any luck and wondered whether it's best to stick it out or just head south of town with the crowds....any thoughts appreciated! Andy
  12. Dunno... The only thing I could think of is the lake listed before Rummel in the Regs is Ribbon Lake and the limit is 2 (no size limit listed for that lake), but that listing is at the bottom of the previous page!! The "general" regs for high mtn lakes is 2 fish regardless of size, but those regs are only for lakes that don't have a specific listing!! P
  13. Yeah, seemed pretty clear to me!!
  14. Duane, Try Aquabatics or another river supply place (NRS online or maybe Kimball Sports in Cardston - Kip fishguide76 on the board might be able to order you one) where they sell whitewater raft rowing frames. Have you tried the places that sell drift boats - doesn't Alberta Marine in Red Deer sell Hyde? P
  15. So we hiked into Rummel Lake and surprisingly there were only a few people fishing, even though the trail was quite busy due to the fact that Chester Lake was closed due to a griz being in the area... Nonetheless, as I was setting up at the far end of the lake I noticed a lady that was spin fishing and making her way around the lake caught up to where we were. I noticed that she had just landed a fish so I went over to talk to her about her catch (and noticing that she was bonking the fish)... I asked her about her catch and she proceeded to show me (while gilling the fish) and I said in shock, "you're keeping that"!? It's too small (this fish was only about 12")! Her response was, "I read the regs yesterday and you can keep 2 fish". I responded back, "the fish have to be 16"'s! "No" she replied, "anything under 35 cm"!! No I said, back! And think to myself, lady, if those were the regs, there would be no fish in here!! I walked away in discussed and a few minutes later she came over and apologized and said that she's never poached before and what should she do (thinking to myself, "if you've never poached before, you are defineily poaching now"!!)?! "Put the fish down the outhouse"? She then asked us if we wanted it for dinner (as we had set up camp on the other [legal] side of the provincial park boundry), and our response was definietly no! I mentioned to her that "technically" she needs to throw it back dead or alive and that she needs to be more careful!! She pretty much slinked away and I never saw her again... I didn't notice any fish floating belly up later that day, so she either kept the fish or threw it down the out house... What a waste! So what do you... We were 5 km away from the trail head, "x" kms away from a CO... I just tried to do my best to educate her, but there was no way I could have reported her, or get her licence, etc. Your thoughts?! Peter
  16. Sun, you and Rick should get together and look at flower photos together, as well!! P
  17. Great work Kyle!! P
  18. "Suck it up buttercup" P
  19. Maybe you should try again to return them, but return them under another name/address (as your name/address might be flagged)... P
  20. Rick, Your health benefits plan might cover them since they'd have Rx lenses!! P P.S. Then get a lanyard like Lynn found out!
  21. I concur, as I have had great customer service with a broken pair of Smiths after a Mtb'ing crash where I broke the frames. Face required 4 sutures but frames were replaced for free on the spot at the place of purchase!! P
  22. Good to know! Thanks Lynn!! P
  23. Other then Lower K lakes... Not really... There are some really small creeks in the area (Boulton Creek, for example) but I've never fished them though they should hold fish?! If you make it up to the "Inter Lakes" area (short drive from the campground) there are several 7 km - 10 km hikes that will put you in some good water (PM me for specifics)... From the Mt. Sarrail trail head (again a short drive from the campground) you can hike into Rawson (lots of people) or Aster (I don't think Hidden lake holds any fish). Elbow Lake trail head is a short drive as well and only about 1 km hike in (= lots of people), or a bit further down hwy 40 you can get into Pickle Jar lakes (smallish fish in the 2nd & 3rd lakes). Cheers, Peter
  24. Glad you had a great time! Remember, don't tell anyone!! LoL P
  25. "B" are you wanting to hike in or drive in, cast from shore or float tube/pontoon?! You are in a prime area for K Lakes, Rawson, Elbow Lake and many, many others!! Upper reaches of both the Sheep and Highwood, as well as Cataract Creek, etc. just to name a few... "P"eter
