  1. Maybe the signs should be a bit more engaging?! For example have a sign at the beginning of the road, "Do you know the regs for this lake"?! Then another... "Are you sure?!", as the regs have changed for this lake!", and then they lead to a larger sign that lists the regs and highlights the changes... Just a thought/idea! P
  2. Kudos!! I guess you have WAY more scruples then a professinal hockey player that plays in Calgary!! LoL P
  3. Not interpreting your response as fighting at all!! (insert gay pokey thing) You are intitled to an opinion as am I as is everyone LoL P
  4. Being one of the 1st to use it with Mike this past weekend... It kicks a$$!! Really well done seeing that it was made the evening before and designed "on the fly" (no pun intended)!! Great job Mike, I'm sure you will get a bunch of requests to adapt the design to a drift boat!!!! P
  5. Brad, I wasn't in the previous e-mail, nor am I now disagreeing with you!! My response was giving details on the situation at the Sheldon Chumir Centre - which is a "health care facility" - office staff, and clinical and/or frontline staff two different scenarios... But seeng that it is a "health care facility" statistically would come into contact with ill, high risk people a bit more frequantly then retail staff (not saying that there is not a chance that retail staff wouldn't come into contact with ill people)... So would think that (personal opinion here) the front line "health care" staff are a bit higher priority then pegnant women (who's immune system is heightened to begin with more so then the average person) just for the fact that if they are sick, they cannot take care of people/patients/clients, etc. that have become ill. Office staff compleatly different story, as I mentoned already! Now I don't have the specifics of what happend at the Sheldon Chumir, but from what I heard expost facto (and 2nd hand) that the clinical staff did it on their own for the clinical staff and I'm sure the support staff totally mooched in (wouldn't you?!). P
  6. Well, depenging on which department, I guess... Receptionists certainly deal with the sick (though differently then the clinical staff, but are exposed more then the average person) which is different then someone that works behind the scenes. In the case of my GF, she's a Psychologist and councils a high risk group directly, so I'd say definitely high(er) risk! P
  7. Yes! My GF works at the Sheldon Chumir and the clinical staff banded together and put a clinic together for themselves and all staff (because they were shut out - being frontline staff and all)!! I should have used my volunteer card and got it then as well!! P
  8. Money talks!! And I'm sure they threw in a couple of comp'd (box) seats for Eddie and the boys for the next Flames vs. Oilers match-up!! P
  9. Wow only 4 hours!! After a mtn bike crash a few years back, I had to wait a lot longer then 4 hours!! P P.S. A word to the wise... Next time any of you have to go to the ER for whatever reason, make sure you tell them you are experiencing "chest pain" and you'll go to the front of the line (not at all ethical, I realize )
  10. Damn right he gutted it!! Way too many cuts,. but the key to why those cuts (negatively) impacted the system as much as they did was that they were done too fast (when Dinning and his crew were getting millions of $ in wages and then buy outs, bonuses, etc.)! Then to make himself look good he announced that there was all this surplus $ towards the end of his life (which is only relfective of how much he cut - it was not new $)... Then they cut out the premiums and look where we are now!! P
  11. Canadensis, and you're suprised by that?! It's a typical politician move - pass the buck!! No surprises what-so-ever (hey we agree on something else ;-)! Terry, tell me you are not suprised by that, either?! We have a two teired system!! Anyone that can afford it, pays for it!! Do you think Stelmach, etc. stood in line! If Gretzky (or any other athlete, for that matter) needs a hip operation, where are they going?! The Mayo clinic, you can be sure!! Brad, yes I have expereinced an HMO (lived in the States for 3 years)... Our system is a great system, don't get me wrong, but it's not perfect (obviously), and it's better for some over others! P
  12. To answer your intial question Don, is NO! He is not worth the $ and he should be fired along with Stelmach, Lipert and the entire cabinet (from someone that didn't vote for the PCs and that has worked for the former CHR and who's partners currently works for the AHS - gong show)... But that's just one persons opinion, which is not going to make any difference whats so ever! Cheers, P
  13. Thanks Don, I'm well aware of the Canadian approval for the Canadian Coast Guard and Department of Transportation and/or Department of Fisheries and Oceans and must have one if not all to be apprved for use in Canada http://www.tc.gc.ca/marinesafety/debs/obs/...s/few_words.htm Thanks for your input. Peter
  14. I agree! I think I'll buy new... Thanks for the offer though. Cheers, P
  15. Steve, Do you trace the images onto the wood, use transfers or do you sketch free hand? Either way, nice work! P
  16. Thanks Murray and everyone else for posting your comments... I think I will go with the hydrostatic model even though it's more expensive... Reason would be that if you are on an ice shelf (in the winter/spring) and it breaks and you fall in, or given the situation Jeff was in out at P O L (extreme cold water temp) in a panic state it might take you a while to pull the rip cord (if at all)... A little added security... Cheers, Peter
  17. Yeah I read that they were made so that they could not inflate due to rain, splashing, etc. Thanks for your input. P
  18. Ha ha, I totally thought of that as well, but I think it's federal offense if you get caught!! P
  19. Yeah I do this trick all the time!! Works great (except when you get the frame of the glasses in the shot!)! P
  20. Gang, With recent events at Police Outpost Lake I am considering purchasing a self inflating PFD similar to the Mustang "Airforce" with hydrostatic valve (automatically inflates when immersed in 4" of H2O)... Has/does anyone use one? Can you give some feedback on which models/brands are best (I have only looked at the Mustang)... I presume there are a couple of places in town to purchase (WSS, TFH - anywhere else - local fly shops)... Thanks in advance. Peter
  21. I guess one could always put on some grubby clothes and go to the Mustard Seed or Drop-in Centre (in Calgary) if they don't want to wait in line at one of the 4/5 other clinics!! Talk about an (un)ethical debate/decision!! P
  22. Yes I was aware they recovered Jeff's body today... I also knew someone was out there that was on the lake that day... I'm sorry you had to go through that... I'm really sorry Jeff's family and friends had to (have to) as well... P
  23. Just like not all wolfie-dogs resemble wolves!! LoL
  24. And I'm not disagreeing with you as they do have a high level of training with some of it focusing on diseases/disease states, etc., But then again, nurses, who are also trained within a "medical model" and they think they can do it all, as well!! LoL P P.S. Opps sorry a personal bias coming out (I am a Health Eduaction specialist btw, that is not a nurse!!) LoL
  25. Neither is glycol but you drink it every time you have a beer in Mexico, Thailand, India, etc. It's used as a preservative!! LoL P
