Thanks Randy, Of the ones you listed, and as far as esthetics go, which is the best, in order of (if possible) 1st choice, 2nd, 3rd, etc. P -

Kipper, Thanks for your reply... So is that your reco, as well (even though primitive)?! Esthetics out way comfort in my book... As I mentioned we could always travel to one of the full service campgrounds to shower, etc. to or from exploring and/or fishing -(we always do that at Waterton, so not that big of a deal). I have lot's of firewood I can bring, so that's not an issue. P -

Harps, we'll be tenting and wanted some amenities.. I guess we could always go to a campsite that has showers, etc. Thanks for the info. P -
Any advise on which campsite we should try and get into at Cypress Hills (i.e. the best one)?! Thanks, Peter

Hey Mon (crappy attempt at a Jamaican accent)! You should be okay with the dark stone, but seems from what a few say on the board that the brown ones are the ticket. I've been catching on emergers (prince, black/red chromies, rubber leg copper johns, pheasant tail [red], gold ribbed hares ear) and wire SJW. IF you access the inlet from the water you should be okay unless there are signs posted (high water line is considered public land). Why not hit Fish Crrek?! If you start at Burnsmead - River right just below the bridge, I know there are fish there - small ones lately, but feisty!! Work the stretch just down from the bridge for about 100 m. Put your SJW right at 9 ft and add 14 (or so) inches of tippet and then your 2nd fly - either from the eye of your SJW or from the hook. When are you heading down?! I haven't decided if I'll be fishing tomorrow as it depends on the weather... PM me and let me know, I am no pro, but I might be able to show you a few things... Cheers, P

Rusty, We'll be leaving after dinner on Friday! P -
I've always caught bullies with white bunny patterns, white clousers, white, white, white!! (at least that works on the Old Man)! P

Yes I have one in a 5 wt (got a killer deal a few month ago) and it broke within the first month (fighting a rainbow applying side pressure). Redington replaced it (for US $30) and I had to wait a month. I like it, it's a nice fast rod, but for the same amount of $, I'd go with a TFO TiCR (have one of those in a 6wt) or spend more and get an axiom for the only reason that you can get a replacement section in Calgary instantly. I wouldn't worry about getting a 6 wt rod with a fighting butt (a 7 wt for sure), but not a 6. Just MHO. Let us know what you decide and how you like it! Peter

Guy, From what I understand both will work, but it's always better from a pontoon! P -
It was the Friends of Fish Creek Park. I was speaking to them this morning and helping (a very little bit) in between drifts!! Wanted to know what they were doing with the bags (as I'm one of the organizers for our clean up July 26th and they said the city was collecting the bags (the city won't do it for us!)! Peter

Fishing The Bow In The N.w.??
ÜberFly replied to chiasson's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Yes there are a few holes & runs worth fishing. Usually later afternoon and evening week days or weekends to avoid rafters and dog walkers (as previously mentioned)... Makes a pretty good float from Bearspaw Dam to Shouldice (~3 hours) Kensington (~4 hrs) and Zoo (~5 hrs) depending on water levels. I reco floating as you can hit some better water and again avoid the people on the banks (for the most part)... Contact me after June 1st and I'd be happy to show you a few spots and help you out... Cheers, Peter -
Cool eyes!! Nice shot, what do you shoot with?! P

Glenmore Rez, Chesterslu, I mean Chestermere, Glennifer (Dickson), Sylvan, Pine Lake, Buffalo... I'd fish for the pickerel in most of those over the jacks! P

Point taken... Thanks for all the info! P

Brent, That's why I mentioned that we be specifically "in the park"!! P

Gang, A buddy of mine wants me to head to Cypress Hills with him for the May long weekend, as we've been trying to plan a running weekend (no jokes please) and since neither of us have been to that part of the province, it might be a good spot for some early season training... I've read "a little" bit of info regarding fishing within the area, but can't find any specifics (not looking for any secret holes, etc., but looking at fairly detailed info on possibly some fishing spots, access, etc.). Fishing Alberta did a spot on the area a few years back, but I think they had access to a private lake... From what I've found, the three lakes in the park are Elkwater Lake (Pickerel, whities and pike), Spruce Coulee Reservoir and Reesor Lake (trout?). Also, won't be floating any of the lakes, but what about shore access?! What about any fishable streams/rivers?! I know I found a photo of one on this site... But it was just a photo, with no other info attached... We will be staying with the park... Any info would be appreciated Thanks in advance... Peter
