  1. I use a 6 ft section of lead core with a loop connector at either end, works great, easy to switch! Seems like the SA L2L connectors would work as well, but don't have too much exp. with them, maybe others on the site do?! Peter
  2. Sun, 1st off, are they hardwood or laminate?! To clean hardwood both Martha Stewart and I use a sink full of steeped tea (orange peko) - use a rag on the dry side of damp. An old supervisor of mine had me clean a gym floor with ammonia and water (again on the dry side of damp)... I have also used vinegar and water (on the dry side of damp) and all three work very well! Hardwood is pretty hardy stuff, just try to avoid dragging furniture (with out felt pads) or dropping things on it, but scratches and dents will happen over time, but will give it some character... P
  3. Johna, Like this doesn't happen every day on the Bow... talk about ff etiquitte! Sheesh!! ;-) P
  4. I hear yeah... "Better water" is all relative - as is being in a relationship and urning to be single lol Great discussion, with few feathers actually ruffled (or rocks thrown! ;-) Cheers! Peter
  5. Patagonia actually developed the recycled polyester technology and literally gave it to all it's competitors!! Talk about a stand-up company!!! P
  6. Last week I was walking through a braid and almost stepped on a big brownie, literally!! I've done this before, but usually in the late summer evening but never this shallow!! Freaks me out every time it happens, as you don't really expect it (except with suckers)! P
  7. Pseudo, i can definitely appreciate what you are saying! It's just what I've been taught for all the reasons, Brent mentioned (I float occasionally, as well and give shore people lots of room, and pull my line, but that's just me)... You are right, if not pulling their lines, then definitely swing to the opposite side (still, this is the exception to the rule, in my exp.). Nobody owns the water, nor the fish in it, but logically, the boaters do get to cover more water (and better water) and us shore folk, have to be happy with what we have, and is more difficult for us to potentially move to another locale. I also agree that we are expected to mirror the courtesy (and I do). Cheers! Peter
  8. Great discussion on Drift Boat/Walk & Wader etiquette. Boaters, please pull your lines when passing us wading folk!!! Thanks, P
  9. Though I am not a spey caster, I find this thread very interesting!! Boats on the water (whatever the variety) should give the people on shore the "right of way" (so to speak)! I am constantly surprised (to the point where I actually yell at the boaters to pull their lines) that the majority of boaters on the Bow, do not!! I hope it isn't any of the folks on this board, nor any of the local guides. I haven't got to the point of throwing rocks, but that's a great idea! Just kidding ;-) Boaters, please pull your lines so that us shore folk can have some success, as well! Cheers! Peter
  10. You're welcome to "camp" in my backyard (though I'm in the north end of the city)... PM me if you're interested... Peter
  11. Home Depot BLOWS I HATE shopping there!! I was there today and got so P*ssed off I left as they couldn't find what I was looking for (after 1/2 an hour), even though the computer said there was 5 in stock (and that was 2 employees looking for me)! Sheesh, if it wasn't for the fact that I live less then 5 blocks away, I would boycott them all together... Argh!!! P
  12. Nice work! Awesome colour choice! Can't wait to hear about her 1st fish with it!! Cheers! P
  13. Reg, I have never fished there, but would HIGHLY recommend if your hiking in to go through Sunshine Meadows. Sure it's a little longer of a hike, but much more interesting as far as hikes go!! Going through the Bryant Creek route is EXTREMELY tedious and boring!! Just my opinion... Have a great trip, it's a SPECTACULAR area (also, not sure on the permit requirements as it's a BC Provincial Park). Peter
  14. Yeah, check out Map 15 page 268, (Trail 100 pg 222) looks like you go from 3 Isle , up Beatty Creek , down LeRoy Creek to North Kananaskis Pass to Turbine (10.5 Km so doable in a day for sure)! Hell, I might even join you!! P
  15. Yeah I think it's possible. I'll check the Daffrin's book... P
  16. I had a guy that the Mazda dealership uses (and reco'd). The 3 chips I had done haven't spread and it's been a year) He seems pretty reasonable (the more you have the lower the price of the additional repairs - pretty common price structure I understand). PM me if you would like his contact info... Cheers, Peter
  17. Al, I have been looking into the Outcast Pac 1300 (more interested in the 1400 but seems like they don't sell them in canada). $$$, so some day. I have a small raft I currently use now that I built some bench seats and beefed up the oar locks for and it works ok for short floats. Remember Montana doesn't have sales tax, so it works out pretty good if you can go down and pick it up... P
  18. Conor, See previous (recent) post in the "General Chat" section... He/she may want to consider paying a little more, i.e. you get what you pay for (IMHO - and a few others). That being said, I hear Wardell (sp?) are pretty economical and pretty decent. If your friend wears size 10 boots, I have a pair of brand new Patagonia wading boots FS (even tough expensive they have a life time warrantee - referencing the earlier posts I mentioned). If your friend is considering neoprene, he/she will be too hot in the spring/summer/fall... Just my $0.02. Peter
  19. Nick, Northover Ridge is a great trip! Can be done in three days (I did it in two and was supposed to stay at Three Isle the third night, but decided to walk the 10 km out instead). If you camp in BC just over the Aster Col, you don't have to pay. The Turbine Canyon (North Kananaskis Pass) trip is SPECTACULAR as well and you can go over the French/Haig Glaciers and come out across from Chester and that would definitely stretch that one out to 4 days (would need glacier travel exp.)! Why don't you head up to Jasper and try to get on the Skyline - a Rockies Classic or down to Waterton to avoid the crowds! If you want more info, PM me I have some awesome photos of all the trips I mentioned! Peter
  20. Rich, you should know better... You brew your own coffee, doesn't take that much more time to make your own (healthy) breakie either :P P
  21. I have stories like this as well - regarding patagonia (very rare mind you) but if it ever happens, they stand by their products! PERIOD!! No questions, no fuss, no muss!! And you can't beat their environmental ethic, etc. If you ever get the chance to read "Let My People Go Surfing" READ IT!! P
  22. I've heard of lots of returns b/c of leaks! The ones my buddy tried on at Wholesale had 2 left feet (quality control issues, I'd say). Go with the Simms! P
  23. No, no... No fight! I completely agree! Service (relationship) is HUGE! And yes back on topic... The sizing for the Simms waders definitely changed when they changed models... P
  24. I guess another important consideration is amount of savings... Is it going to be worthwhile (when adding in shipping, gst., brokerage, duty, etc.)?! And that's going to be realative, depending on how cheap one is!!
  25. The last thing I wanted was a drop down drag out... So where do you draw the line... Is "Whole Sale" considered "Big Box" and Fishtales, Troutfitters, etc. considered local! They all carry [or will carry] Sage rods... So do you test one particular rod at only one place or see what other options/availability/price there is (they may or may not even have the same models)... I agree that local shops have a great purpose and I'm all for supporting shops and staff that provide stellar service, info, training, advise, etc., (and I do!!!) but sometimes price is the only factor... P
