Look at the Snowbee XSD it comes with 5 spools. Order through Courtney (Islandguy) @ Nilecreek (Sponsor) for a great deal, or Southbow (also a sponsor) if they have them in stock... I have one for my bully/pike set up and it is great!! P

Here ya go Jeff (and everyone else) http://www.baseloc.com/ When you get on to the main page, choose DLS and then just zoom in on the area that you want then click on it and it will highlight the 1/4 section and then the specific 16th (should be obvious). Then you can go into the AB Gov't SPIN2 site put in the LSD and purchase your title, etc. Iasgair on this site posted a tutorial on the "Redneck" board on how to navigate the SPIN2 site. Here's her link: http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showthread....ight=land+title Have fun! P

Huh? I don't quite understand where you're going with this?! Did you keep it?! If you didn't, please keep the fish in the water when handling it! P P.S. Probably an wound from a big treble hook.

Austin, What was the area like around the lake?! Last time I was up there some "Random campers" with a pitbull left the area a mess with a stringer of fish dead in the water (before they changed the regs), a burning towel on their (still smoldering) fire, toilet paper and sh*t everywhere, a half full gallon of colemen fuel on the trail... So... Inquiring minds what to know? P -
One Last Trip Out On The River For A Bit !
ÜberFly replied to CopperJonny's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Either steel leader material (tied after 15 lb+ with a swivel) or 40 lb mono - I've only used steel! Question, couldn't one just use a regular (spin casting) 6" - 8" pike leader with a snap swivel at the other end? I would make changing flies a breeze?! P -
Here's what Jim Stelfox had to say: Regarding the regs. that specify no fishing within 25 yards downstream of an obstacle (dam or weir), this was primarily intended to prevent people from fishing where fish are stacked up while trying to migrate upstream through a fish ladder. Since there is no fish ladder at this dam, I'd be surprised if the officers would charge anyone for fishing right below the dam. However, the best thing to do is to pose the question to one of the officers in Claresholme or High River, since they are the ones who are responsible for enforcing that regulation and would be able to tell you. Funny thing is, I called the Claresholm office and they "passed the buck" on me and told me it wasn't their jurisdiction, it was Forestry that was responsible for this area!! Nice!! P

Well the BIG reason for all the research is for the "Educational Opportunity"!! Now I know how to get LSD's online, and pull a land title online for next time! Then, I can look up a contact name/address and get permission!! P

Any Fly Fishing Teachers Out There?
ÜberFly replied to EveretteD's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Other then fly schools, Hawgstopper or Maxwell are their best bets P -
Leadhead bucktail with spin casting gear!! Seriously!! It's difficult on the fly (even with type 6 or lead core) especially if the pool below is quite deep!! P P.S. If you ever walked above the old (Calgary) weir you could look down and see fish in the wash all the time!!

Crossing Border With Bearspray?
ÜberFly replied to Flyster's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I've read on the "redneck" forum that it is ok (not that that makes it official, but...) and that it is listed on the canadian customs/immigration website - so you should look on there. P -

Awesome vid & effort! Too bad the Japanese can now slaughter him/her!! :$*%&: P -
If you get it sent via UPS expedited (overnight or whatever the quickest is or if it is oversized, etc.), then brokerage, etc. is included. If you go the slowest (cheapest) route, then it is not and you will get dinged at your door (or depot). P

So here's an update... Haven't heard back from SRD. So to satisfy my curiosity, I've pulled the land title of the area in question (little bit of a task b/c the LSD came back as a cancelled title, so I had to do a little bit of work to find the title). A couple of things stand out. There is ABSOLUTELY NO historical reference listed on the title for this particular 1/4 sec. Unlike the title for the Sara's land (I've seen a portion of the title and they have 2 historical references relating the dates 1884 & 1904 - I can't include the reference in this post due to copyright as I didn't pull the title). Also there is no specific listing to bed and bank rights, but I understand that they are most likely not listed. There are quite a few caveats and easements, etc. b/c of O & G/Utility ROW, etc. and I'm getting some assistance with interpreting some of that... But initial interpretation by a couple of people that have been helping me out (they work with land titles every day) is this guy is full of Sh*t - but I'm still not 100% with that! I will continue to update... P

From what I understand (not me, I like them), some people don't like the fact that with small diameter tippet they tend to slip (there is a new style now that doesn't slip). Others, seem to think they spook the fish... Then there is the fact that they kink the leader... There are probably a few more, but those are the ones I know of... P
-
That doesn't really deter any of the people I see down there fishing presently (I see them there when I drive down the Deerfoot)...

Call 311 and they will direct your concern to Bylaw. It might take Bylaw a few days to get back to you, so don't expect instant action! P
-
Buy a 7.5' 2x then put a small swivel then 16" - 18" of tippet to your fly (repeat 1 or 2 more times if you feel comfortable with multiple fly rigs)... As Rick's primer indicates you should be at 1.5 x's the depth of the water you are fishing. And if you are not catching the bottom every once in a while you are either too short or not heavy enough... Either corky type indi's, (med) thingamabobbers (though many don't like the thingamabobbers), or the Phil Rowley indicators... Try all of them to see what you like (they are not too expensive)?! P

Thanks Mike, I couldn't find it in the 'act' Cheers, P P.S. I'm having a "discussion" with a buddy and need to be right
-
Ahhhhh, that's why I can't find it in the regs, it's part of the "act". Thanks Brian! P
-
I know it was brought up on here a little while ago and I can't seem to find it in the regs... can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks, Peter
