  1. Was out there this aft with my nephew.. Pretty slow - didn't see one fish landed - about 5 - 6 others out). I got a few bites and one hook-up but didn't land anything. My nephew (12) tried his hand at fly casting and did ok for his first time. @%$&*# broke the tip off of my 5 wt pulling it out of the tube. Water was pretty murky according to one older fellow - he also mentioned that it was quite good before all the rain (said he caught 30 one evening). There were a few risers (chronies - I think) and all my takes were on a black/green sparkle leech. Nothing on the black ice cream cone or any other nymph or dry I tried. Saw a few back swimmers... Anyway, the place has potential. Oh and we saw a bobber swim by a few times - tried to catch it but couldn't LoL P
  2. Just checked and nothing is on this weekend. P
  3. McKay's!! I'd drop in to BBT's for beers!! P
  4. You could always buy cheaper through site sponsors like Icky Fly Works. Quality is probably about the same though... P
  5. Why not?! I presume it's not just for children!! P
  6. Jason & Rick, I'd be for a total moratorium on bullies... One thing I'll add, though, is one doesn't technically "bait" a hook for bully trout, but some do... Also, can't really H & R a bear now can you?! P
  7. Nick, maybe you can comment (or not)... What's with the whole "baiting thing"?! Doesn't seem very sporting to me (not debating, just making my own comment/observation) - kind of like chumming for sharks... P
  8. I guess one thing Rick is there currently are (lets say) a few hundred thousand trout in the bow - millions of trout (and other fish) in Alberta and only 600 or so Grizzlies (maybe not an accurate number but few enough to be concerned - yeah call me an ecowennie, I guess)... Plus the majority don't eat griz!! Those are my issues. Why hunt something that needs too recover it's numbers (yes I know that vehicles [trains & cars] kill bears too!! All the more reason to protect them) and you can't eat - purely sport (or lack of sport IMO)!! P
  9. Ok so we just tested the battery. 12.7 with the car off, 14 something with it running... Re-checked cables and they are clean & tight! P
  10. Thanks Jeff, Jer & Greg, 1st thing I did was check to see if the post were clean and tight... I'll have my tenant check the volts (he's an electrician) and has a volt meter... P
  11. I have an '06 Mazda 6 Sportwagon. Bought new, has ~95,000 kms and I have never had an issue, thus far... Today I couldn't start it (ran into Timmy Ho's - left radio on and lights on for my passanger, but car engine was NOT running for about 5 - 7 minutes). Went to start it and it wouldn't start (gauges went all wonky no clicks or other sounds whatsoever... After about 5 hours (went fishing) came back and it started... Is it my battery (I presume so) or alternator? How do I check as it's a sealed unit. I will be taking it in for an oil change next week to my mechanic so he can test it, but I'd rather not buy a battery through him as I'm sure I can purchase one at Cdn Tire or Costco for much less... Thanks for your help in advance... Peter
  12. Don't bring your credit cards to work!! LoL Has Jackie notice your ass is getting tighter from all the riding?! P
  13. Recently, I guess... P
  14. Fishtales (also a site sponsor) now carries Simms, as well!! P
  15. I would presume that shops have a little wiggle room with the retail price they set - depending on volume ordered/sold, etc. I know some of the shops can give a slight discount to their "preferred" customers . So if you look at 10% off a $400 pair of waders, your looking at $40, which may explain your observations!! P
  16. So Steve... You've resorted to taking your bro to Spruce Meadows pond, eh!! :clapping: P
  17. Without sounding too much like a cynic with no heart... The best you could hope for is that the crack that they buy with the proceeds from selling it, ends up killing them!! :derby racer: P
  18. Dave, Make sure that whomever you get to build it gets a permit (if it's 4' or higher - I think), if not you are liable if anyone injures themselves (even after you sell the property!)!! Don't let them tell you otherwise!! P
  19. Spruce Meadows (C & R only) P
  20. I should add that I've floated this section many times over the last 20 years and would hesitate to do it again, as the past several times there has been too many A * * holes in jet boats blasting around (around blind corners, etc.), not slowing down when passing canoes, rafts, etc. and having a general disregard for the safe operation of a water craft, as well as a lack of respect for others on the river. Add to it that when you stop off for lunch at Wildcat Island it's full of s h i t and toilet paper b/c of the further lack of respect that some people have... P
  21. Put it this way, I'd much rather float the Banff/Canmore section where I'd have to pay for a national park fishing license and remove all lead from my possession!! P
  22. Sort of... You need to park up top and walk down a pretty steep road maybe 300+ m or so... I've done it with a 6 person raft and a canoe making a couple of trips to shuttle everything down... P
