  1. Nope, I meant I was SOLD boots that were too big b/c of the reco of the staff - they said the boots were the right size for me when in fact, they were not (if you read my initial post, they seemed to fit well out of the box and with moldable liners, they should fit tight out of the box - as was previously stated by Mr. Vhawk12)!! <--poke--<
  2. Yup, that's what I've (just) learned, as well!!
  3. So I went to see the folks at "Lou's Skiing Performance Centre". The conclusion... I was sold boots that were too big for me... MEC staff at their best!!
  4. Just a question (not necessarily directed at you), but how is the circumstance you describe actually handled in BC (and/or Montana for that matter)? P
  5. Ev, Wearing more socks is NOT the answer as it can actually make feet colder with the new style of boots (from what I've been told)... P
  6. Also "Lou's" have been reco'd!
  7. Dynafit Alpine Touring boots... And don't say MEC as they screwed them up in 1st place (their heater was down so they used the xc ski boot heater and it didin't get them hot enough)... Our family exclusively dealt with Ski Celler 25 years ago, so maybe I'll check them out... Thanks, P
  8. Anyone know of a boot fitter in Calgary?! I've been having issues with forming my liners (were great out of the box then I molded [moulded] them and now I'm swimming - no one told me that I didn't have to mold [mould] them!)... So now I need to try and get them back to as close to stock as possible and want someone that has a lot of experience... I've heard Felix Ski Service on Bowness Road is great... Anyone else?! Peter
  9. As far as I know there are still 2 companies operating in Calgary... P
  10. (Fortunately/unfortunately) That's capitalism...
  11. Simple! Econ 101 Supply & demand! Lots of demand, little supply = high price! P
  12. There are probably many issues... One in-particular is for the protection of the resource (as well as protection of the business/industry specific to Alberta and more specifically the Bow)... Case in point... If you are NOT a licensed guide in BC you CANNOT guide on any BC water, where as BC guides, Montana guides, etc. can guide (and profit from the resource - and not pay local/provincial taxes) in Alberta and take revenue away from local (regional) guides... P
  13. Yes the Bow below the weir in Calgary is open all year as are some other rivers in southern alberta (check the regs though)! By the by, you just missed a couple of winter fishing seminars at both Fishtales and Country Pleasures P
  14. Louis Vuitton make one!!
  15. Yes it has happened to me, but not the next day!! P
  16. What's "inzulated"!! LoL P
  17. LoL, yeah I thought that at first, as well, but then read the rest of his post!! P
  18. Clive, I guess you could always put in a sub floor, if you want to take it that far... I've installed both laminate and vinyl but unfortunately not the stuff you are considering... P
  19. That actually sent a shiver down my spine!! I was thinking "spinal injury" for sure!! Yikes!!
  20. Yes that was a great day wasn't it!! Funny thing is, the following week I took Deb down to that same spot (yes I got skunked that day with you, Bobloblaw and kayakmike ) and we hooked a ton of fish! Back on point... I was also a spin fisher up until the late 80's (introduced by my father and late [great] uncle George)!! Anyway, at that time (mid/late '80's) I figured I'd try it out (can't remember why initially, I guess it looked pretty cool and was challenging) and asked for a fly rod for Christmas one year. I remember dad bought my 6/7 wt Mitchell Rod & Shakespeare reel at Frenchy's (to which I sold to Deb's bro-in-law a few years ago). I went to the library and read up on everything I could find (I guess I am self taught for the most part). I remember in the early mid '90's there was a weekly fishing report in the Calgary Herald during the summer (Bruce Masterman would include a fly/hatch report - I'm currently looking at an article from Aug 4th 1995 that I clipped out and kept, called "Trout Fishing the Bow - Legendary river will test anglers' patience, preparation (and luck)". It featured Jim McLennan... During that time, I worked at Bob Bahan & Forest Lawn Pools and would go down to the bridge under Highway 22 x in the evening after work and flailed around. I remember catching one fish (nice rainbow on a bowriver bugger) and was hooked... Would consistently go out but only remember catching that one fish!! It wasn't until about 5 years ago when a neighbor approached me to see if I knew of anybody looking for a roommate (at that time he was having issues with the people he was living with) and he moved in with me. I found out soon after that he was a former fly fishing guide (out of Monod's in Banff) and re-energized me. A few years later I was up on FFC and the rest is history... Where I too have met some great people, made some lifelong friends and have learned a TON!! P
  21. If it comes to that, but we need to get to a particular file at this point in time (not super critical)... Also, not sure when we will be getting a new one as macBook Pros will go out of production in the next little while (6 months or so) so might want to wait until whatever the latest and greatest is that will replace them... P
  22. So my wife's iBook pooched out (logic board needs to be replaced but that part is apparently obsolete so cannot get the thing repaired) so we ca no longer get power to the computer and therefore cannot charge the battery (which is only holding a charge for about 15 minutes)... Anyone out there have a iBook G4 that we can borrow the (charged) battery from so that we can back-up the hard drive (to which I should have done a while ago!) prior to getting a new MacBook Pro?! Please let me know. Thanks, Peter
  23. I just turn the GSP off on my new panasonic! P
