Looking For Someone With Autocad Or Drafting Skills
ÜberFly replied to Gaffer's topic in Off The Water - Not Fishing Related
Andrew, I had some success using ACAD students for some design work... I had a contact that has since graduated and moved out of province so I'm not sure how you would post a note to someone there, but worth looking into... P -
Rick, ya finally admitting to being a moody SOB, eh!! P

My buddy tours the best films around North America for the BMFF and oddly enough it's one of the few films that has generated some hate mail (letters of complaint) through the Banff Centre!! The ironic thing is it won the "Best Film on Mountain Sports" Award in 2010! P

Of course you mean "Eastern Rises"!! Some great shots, but it did seem a bit "frat boyish"!!
-
Oh and one more thing I should mention... Make sure you ask for a copy of the adjuster's report.. They'll say you are not allowed to have it (which is total BS), it is your right to have a copy!! P

As I'm sure you know, a write off is when the vehicle repairs cost more then its value. I think you can still get it repaired but it depends on if the frame is bent (I think). Also, I think you can buy the vehicle back from the insurance company (or something like that - curbers do that sort of thing all the time) and repair it legally... But as you alluded to it depends on how much that will cost... As an aside... A co-worker had her 2010 Rogue totaled when it was parked outside on the street at the office in November. It was a write off. Insurance impound lot guys also stole a bunch of stuff from her car and insurance didn't count half of her extras and then said she was responsible for the deductible (yeah right)... Make sure you document everything and get an exact (or as close to it as possible) independent appraisal & comparison in which to value yours (Including similar milage). You can negotiate with insurance companies. Oh and make sure you watch last weeks CBC Marketplace!! Sorry my post doesn't answer your questions about auto body work in the US... P

New Hot Water Tank Recommendations
ÜberFly replied to monger's topic in Off The Water - Not Fishing Related
Wow! That's impressive! And I bet you don't drain out the sediment at least once a year like you are supposed to, either (like 99.9% of people - including me)! P -
New Hot Water Tank Recommendations
ÜberFly replied to monger's topic in Off The Water - Not Fishing Related
Are you sure you need a new one or do you just need a new "cold water dip tube" (about $100 installed)?! I ask b/c most people think they need a whole new unit when all they need is a dip tube... P -
Bow Float Times And Distances
ÜberFly replied to sturgeonhound's topic in On The Water - Fishing Related
http://www.bowrivershuttles.com/ Go to "Our River" for distances... P -
Also, keep your eyes open for FFC sponsors hosting demo and spey days (most likely not until late spring early summer)... P
-
Trev, Your best bet for learning is to hire someone like Colin (Cdone) or Greg (Toolman) (or another spey guy that teaches - sorry those are the only ones I know of) next time you are in Calgary to go through the basics... I don't know about you but I learn much better in person then what I watch on a video or from a book... You can get a lot out of even an hour or 2 learning session!! Just my 2 cents. P

Yeah that's the one on Kijiji... Looks like it's a fly/spin combo rod as it has 3 tips and one looks thicker then the other two, plus the butt section in the photo is set up for a spinning reel... P

FNG and I were wading in the water (well I was )!!
-
If those work for you (your size, etc.), make sure to buy two pairs as they look like they are being discontinued! P
-
I would think that the neoprene waist band wouldn't work for him either. P
-
Yeah I remember seeing something on Kijiji (were originally purchased for a Halloween costume). And as previously mentioned the other option is the ones with boots attached. If you are interested I have some rubber "hip" waders with boots attached (almost new cond) I'd give you a great deal on (size 11). Don Anderson also uses the waders you describe, so he might be able to provide some specifics... P

LoL I won't tell you the worst of it!! P

Thanks for the contact I'll call him for sure. Right now I have a line on a slightly hail damaged door (it was from an insurance claim) it would be in the ally so aesthetics aren't all that important. Installed for $800... But I'll get a few more quotes. Cheers, P
-
So I have learned that the door is obsolete and VERY dangerous with the double springs & bushings wearing out (lots of shrapnel if they blow) so unfortunately it needs to be replaced... I guess a new door runs between $1200 - $1500 +... P
-
Looking for someone in Calgary to (possibly) repair a garage door. Anyone on here do that sort of thing or have a contact. Older Stanley Door (late 60's early '70's) bushings are worn out. Would prefer to repair as opposed to replace if possible, but don't think parts are available unless someone knows where used parts can be found... Please PM with contact info. Thanks in advance, Peter

Playing telephone tag with the contractor so at least he is returning phone calls... I'll chalk that up as a positive at this stage... P
-
I would say it depends what you value... Convenience vs. quality. "Usually" if you buy cheap the hooks will bend out or unravel sooner rather then later, and if you tie your own you can definitely control the quality!! may cost you in the short term and save you in the long run!! P
-
Thanks for the replies thus far... It's about 10" - 12" off one of the corners of one of the slabs, so I figure it wasn't prepped properly... As I mentioned, we'll call the contractor tomorrow and go from there... Cheers, P

Gang, Back in October I made an inquiry regarding getting a new concrete driveway sealed... Well, it's only been about 3 - 4 months and I've already noticed a crack (more then just a surface crack - 6' long and at least 1' deep)... I would expect that a newly poured (and sealed) driveway would last much longer then 3 months (I presume that they prepped it properly). I'm not sure of any warrantee at this stage as the contractor originally mentioned (verbally) that he would guarantee it for a year, but that is not written anywhere... So does anyone have exp. or suggestions on what to do or how to go about looking into this at this stage (will call the contractor tomorrow - Monday)?! Am I wrong to expect that a driveway would not crack within this amount of time?! Thanks, Peter
