  12. Jesus!.. Al's damn near as old as me, a cougar to him would be out and out spooky... no matter the venue
  13. I still have most of a small pump bottle Deep Woods 100% Deet tucked in my pack. Couple short pumps will keep a 30' circle skeeter free seems like. Works on horseflies, deerflies, blackflies and no-see-ums too
  14. The only thing that makes bobbers and a 20' leader easier to throw is a 25 foot rod............
  15. My rough rule of thumb ; Look for a furled leader about 1 1/2'-2' shorter than the length of the rod then add tippet to get the total length of leader you want to fling but I don't find furled leader length to be hyper critical for the the way I fish. I buy mine from a guy in Texas for about 8 bucks apiece, double for fluorocarbon.
  16. Deet on skin is still preferable to a west nile bout, watched it, ain't pretty and 4 yrs later the guy can still barely walk to end of the block.
  17. That'n been that way for a year. Supposed to be fixed to the falls sometime this summer. Above the falls I have no idea, its SLS responsibility. There's 2 highend 5th wheelers sittin' 10 km above the falls since last June.
  18. The road isn't closed, only the east shoulder is washed out.
  19. Not really but I've taught myself to come in outta the rain without bein' called. At least my basement dry.
  20. Latest forecasters comment http://environment.alberta.ca/forecasting/ForecastersComments/forecasternotes.pdf
  21. Flood predictions are about downgraded somewhat because of overly enthusiastic forecasts of rainfall amounts and areas. Still kinda soaked though. One plus. I found Alberta Rivers app for iOS and Android. Kinda handy
  22. Ah hell,.. don't think I've got anything figgered when it comes to friggin lakes, i think it just happened... you know, like *hit happens....may need more flies though.
  23. Way too friggin' many! Showed up at a reservoir today carryin' maybe 4-500 flies and 2 rods. Changed flies once on each rod and caught a couple dozen fish on a single generic searching pattern in 3 hrs.
  24. Could be but the high catch rates they're braggin' on makes me think there's a helluva lot of fish in there since "someone" introduced the rainbows and the scuds only15 yrs ago. Very cold water + excellent feed source + year round spawning = high survivability with a bejesus boatload of fish. I like to know the age of some of those bigger fish. I'd almost bet they've 10 year olds or over. A trip to check'er out would be a hoot though but I ain't goin' unless I win the lottery and that would mean I'd hafta start buyin' tickets Edit; forgot No Natural Predators
  25. An all you can eat amphipoda buffet, best be gettin' your ass down there before it peaks and crashes
