  1. does such a beast exist??? i'm still not doing laundry or vacuuming... that's what house keepers are for. besides, house work cuts in to my fishing time and the crap will still be there when i'm done.
  2. hey troutslayer, pipestone and i were talking about a heli trip for golden in august, probably a weekend trip... none of this hiking crap. LOL Trailhead. i'll be south. come fish with me. Birchy - take your pants off. you dont need waders if it is 20 - 30 degrees. that's what shorts and water socks are for.

  10. do you think it would be hard to tie? it just doesn't look like it has the oomph needed for the climax after the hook up.
  11. oh sigh. i'm all vacationed out for 2008. if you plan on doing this for 2009, i would be interested.
  12. LOL, i like it.
  13. guess they saw a bear do it once and thought it was a good idea. very cool indeed. nature is wonderous and spectacular. i wonder if they had a license?
  14. happy new years all. spent the evening in lethbridge at the cotton blossom at the lodge. good food, good drink, good company, too bad it was a last minute idea, otherwise i would have lwarned ya'll down south know i coming to town. my brain is fried from the drive back and soon i am going for a nap.
  15. i'm all over that. LOL!! are there any squirls in the carbondale area? i havent seen any. what kind of rod would you need to get a cow off the ground? lots of cows for summer solstice fishing
  16. hey that stuff really looks cool as winging material. you could almost add some as a mayfly tail too.
  17. the vest i have i cant even find on russell's online catalog anymore. so rather than toss out names. i think it is more important to look at the requirements and find something that falls as close to that as possible. the one big regret or dislike that i have about my vest is that the back pocket is actually 2 pockets and not big enough to fit a 1/2 litre bottle of water in to take along for a hot afternoon when you dont want to drag a back pack around. they are actually reel pockets, but when i'm fishing a small steam i only take the one rod with the reel already on it and the back pockets are hard to reach while wearing the vest. for summer, my vest is mostly mesh as i really dont like the heat and would prefer to feel a little breeze on the skin. but for winter i did see a really cool jacket/vest combo. pockets, lots of pockets. d rings to clip on retractors, nets, spools of tippet etc. i like the in side pockets which are smaller for holding my licence, lip balm. a narrow outside pocket is handy for a small knife. some of the pockets close with zippers, some with velcro i dont find the fuzzy patch for drying flies all that useful. but i would find a zipper pocket with a ribbed foam liner for putting flies on very handy. i guess the best way to narrow down the search is to look at his current vest, figure out what he tends to carry around with him, either in the vest or in a backpack and figure out if there is anything that really bugs him or he would change or whatever it is that would fit his needs better. there are some decent vests for under $70.00 or you can spend $200.00. i dont know if it is the name that costs more or the quality. but my vest has lasted 6 years so far and only needs a bath. my vest was around $50.00 in
  18. did we have the same trip?!? i ended up napping in my cat 4 for 2 hours next to the water outletwith my hood up and my head on the culvert, just to wait out the rain and wind issues the other guy actually carried his up on his back...
  19. LOL. Terry, alas, we were dumb to think that the climb "wasnt THAT bad". i dont think i will be dupped again. there were actually 2 large pontoons and 3 cat 4 dragged up that hill. somehow i ended up being the pull horse. the pontoon had a wheel rigged to the bottom of it. i pulled while my friend pushed/steered. and the cat 4s were stacked on top. i am soooo not doing that again
  20. BROCKET!!!! be sure to bring beer for the family
