  1. fishhead, why do you go out of your way to post replies to start a small riot? nearly every time?!? do you really have nothing better to do or are you trying to see how long it takes before it gets nasty and some one ends up politely asked to not post for a few weeks?????
  2. you are more than welcome, it was my pleasure. i'm just glad you came down and i got to meet you at the show. PM sent
  3. i knew i forgot to ask him for something... damn it. maybe next week
  4. it gives us some thing to do, since our balmy -6 has turned to -30 plus windchill.
  5. i did make a point to try it today with my own rod. i wanted to make the comparison with a rod i am used to casting and i already know what distances i can cast and effort needed, blah, blah, blah. i say, no, it is not worth the price tag. yes i had a marginal increase in distance with a touch less effort than my regular line. the noise is really grating, i like to fish and have a quiet time not listen to the line run through my guides. it was a little hard to gage the difference with roll casting but it did seem a little easier to roll cast as well. i did ask a few different retailers about the effect of the roughness on the guides, i was assured that extensive studies and tests were done and there was no difference in guide wear. for the rivers i fish with my 5wt, i like the line i have now just fine. am i sold on Sharkskin. no. would i give it another try, yes. would i spend the money on it, probably not
  6. i spent the whole weekend there. i had a great time tying for H&H. thanks to all who stopped by to distract me. so much for topping up the fly box, managed to tie a whole 12 in 3 days?!? LOL bought water marks and blue ribbon bow and had my other 2 books all signed by Jim. met a few more people, had dinner with the Spey boys and bought a new vise. because i need 3 for some reason. great show, hope to see a few faces at the sportsman and boat show on Feb 15 & 16
  7. that sux!!!!!
  8. i never have much of a problem driving around Calgary. Vancouver has issues depending on where you are. i would rather drive across Calgary than from horseshoe bay to deep cove during rush hour. i didnt think that driving around edmonton was that bad except for the potholes but they are better than in SK. i do the drive from Calgary to Lethbridge every few months without a problem, guess i never hit the really windy days. LOL
  9. i had a great time this morning. definately nice to meet a few more people and spend some quality time with our wonderful hosts rickr and jackie. hope the camp out this summer works and we can do this again when the weather is a little warmer.
  10. i see you finally made it home. did they finally kick you out?!? where's the rest of the pics. nice to see you again.
  11. i had heard about a few of the atlantic salmon farm pens breaking on the west coast. and i also heard that oceans and fisheries have said, if catch an atlantic salmon, keep it. but that's about it.
  12. 3 times in 2 years, same river, same CO. the last time we were ice fishing and i didnt have my licence because it was in my vest so i didnt fish. just sat around and killed the day. the CO came over, same guy. he asked if i was fishing. i said no. he asked if i had my licence, i said yes, just couldnt find it that day. he said he was the only CO on that day and once he left he wasnt coming back and then winked. i had also reminded him that he had checked my licence a few months before. he just said, drop a line and have fun. i see him probably 5 or 6 times a year. last year he only checked at the beginning of the season and i saw him 3 more times after that and he just said hi and kept going. he's a pretty cool guy
  13. i swing by the tims on 162 on my way down and pick up a jug of coffee to go. should still be hot when i get there.
  14. i was looking for a tadpole pattern.
  15. hey kerry, will be there both days. i am tying at the superfly or northern lights table in the afternoons with the hook and hackle club. i have a few things for you as well. my saturday shift starts at one. Fishietales - nice tie. thanks. the picture i had was a little different and used orange instead of scarlet. i have modern silk floss in scarlet. i will try a few. see how it goes.
  16. hell i live almost in airdrie and work in the far south, drive it everyday. no problems
  17. i'm in!! if you dont mind an american bashing chick at the table i have to tie at the expo later in the afternoon. sounds like fun. let me know if i can bring anything
  18. i will be there all 3 days in the afternoons. i'm tying for the hook and hackle club with superfly or i might be over at the northern lights table as well.
  19. perfect, thanks. i think i have found the pattern to tie for the Fly Expo this weekend
  20. LOL!! i do believe that was the case. Thanks Flyangler
  21. everyday i learn something new. i hadn't thought of fishing it with a sinking line. of course the wedge shape makes more sence.
  22. hey Teck, yeah the cruise was great, want to move to the Bahamas... I need a sugar daddy i think Hook n Hackle is every 2nd and 4th wednesday of the month. i am tying at the fly fish expo this sat and sun afternoon, drop by and say hello if you are going.
  23. cheeler, try the dollar store, or co-op sells them in the baking section. nice tie brent. it probably doesnt matter much, but try trimming the back end down to contour to the look of the actual animal. as i said, probably doesnt matter
  24. i posted that one. also the UK site is great. everyone is very helpful. the uk site also has book recommendations i think you have the material lists organized. if you can make it out every other wednesday the hook and hackle club has beginner lessons. next meeting is this wednesday at the bow river canoe club 17th and deerfoot on the east side. you can come as a guest and check it out, see if you want to join. it is a great place to meet people and you can sit down and watch someone tie something and ask questions. - very helpful
  25. oooo, that so sux. i'm glad my cat has no interest in any of my stuff. just once he stole some mink and ran around the house with it for a bit. but no damage done because i found him sleeping with it. he was a little pissed when i took his new fuzzy sleeping friend away. i hope you can salvage some of it
