  1. That’s mallard flank...on the sides under the wings and maybe onto the belly a bit. lots of good uses for it if you google it. no was down around fcp area.
  2. Well there is a drake dead at the head of the island at 130 ave. Saw something flopping around and thought it was caught in something. Ran to intercept it mid river, only to find out that it was just dead and rolling over in the current. Otherwise looks to be in good shape. Looked like his wife got eaten as there was a wing in the eddy too.
  3. Ya but his new account is Bowtweaker
  4. Are they planning on nuking anything?
  5. Ha it’s crazy how fast those things move. Make an effort to look upstream with every new cast. Further upstream if you got a slow swing!
  6. One could argue that At least a golf course serves a purpose. People are just so thoughtless and lazy. How many times have you seen someone watering their lawn a day after a downpour? Or watering their lawn a few times a week in the shoulder seasons. Or forgetting their sprinkler is on and letting it go for hours? How about water running down their driveway/sidewalk? (which is actually a bylaw issue.) Another favourite is the the lawn cool down. Watering at the hottest part of the day. Through the last two seasons where reservoirs were low and high water temps/ low flows persisted, Calgarians could soak their lawns at will—even as okotoks etc banned outdoor water use. I bitched to my dad about his watering habits once. His honest response was “waste water? What? It’ll just evaporate, make a cloud and rain.” I really wonder how many people understand how water waste works. Fees for water should really run as. supply/demand marketplace. If we’re in a drought, you can have it, but you sure are going to pay for it. Im scared of how grumpy I’m going to be as an old man. Ha
  7. If you know the river reasonably well, Just step off the ledge or hike in to the head and fish/wade down beside the ledge. Fairly certain every hole has at least some form of ledge at the moment. But I could be wrong.
  8. One easy change people can make is not growing mushrooms on their lawn all summer. Drives me up the ****ing wall. top your shitty lawn off with some soil that retains water well and you barely have to give it anything. better yet, choose a landscape that requires even less water.
  9. you sure it’s just not spacing between the wraps? Looks like maybe 4 wraps to me. You Can also condense things by splitting the post in two and pulling downwards. I wouldn’t worry about how fat it is. That body would pass as an emergent brown drake, Since they’re fairly big bug and can be light yellow like that.
  10. I never hear of anything. Send me a pm if you need a fellow troll to lend a hand
  11. Appreciate the effort, but What’s grading going to do? Can’t imagine that softball and bigger cobble is anything less than a few deep feet. Would think it Needs some crush or something laid down so your head doesn’t hit your window while bouncing your way down?
  12. Depends on someone’s experience. IMO if you are newer and can’t mend as well, dry flies sink. High floating flies help compensate for that. If you watch stones, they sit low on the water. So I do as poker does/ most of my stones are foam body anyways. They sit in the film rather than on top. I let stones sink a bit if I can’t mend the seam well. Fish still eat them. Have been broken off by freight trains doing it that way. Mind you, that’s mostly at dusk/dark.
  13. I just tie round rubber leg material in for the tails on wet/dry stones. Also have done moose mane. Less integrity with that though. Have used biots as well. Not following about the hair on adams?
  14. Has any of this *hit been on the news? call them out on things that could be changed before jumping to a closure. ffs you’re still allowed to keep fish in over half the streams being closed. Im no mathematician, but if I Carry the 2 and round to the nearest tenth, that’s 100 percent mortality. poachers poach. Not sure how this stops them. I wonder if there is any plan for reopening after 5 years. I can’t imagine the mondo gongshow they’d be on opening day. Even then, What guarantees do we have they open after 5 years? cant be that hard to change a barbless rule. It’s a bunch of *hit written on paper that matters little to anyone but can make a change for the fisheries. It just takes effort to get the ball rolling. pretty sure a guy fishing a size 18 dry and one fishing a triple triple barbed rattle rap, have different mortality rates. sorry, rant over. Bad mood today.
  15. “Why can B.C. implement a barbless rule and we can’t?” “Duhhh, I dunno?” sure sounds similar the lake aeration issue to me.
  16. Sd, I wonder what the affect of a high whitefish take has. Not sure if it provides more habitat/less competition for cutties or if it means more cutties on the menu. Anyways, will be nice to see barbless on those streams. Gag a little when I see dufus hero shots with lipless 14” cutts.
  17. SD, could you elaborate?
  18. It is sad whenever a small business closes. Hopefully he’s just reupping.
  19. Closed at the end of October as far as I know.
  20. Shoe goo also works as a reasonable alternative
  21. Wholesale had a bunch a couple weeks back. What about Troutfitters?
  22. I generally tie on mustad as well. Hook selection at the shop really boils down to what ever brand has the gauge, size and shape I need. They’re all sharp...or sharp enough. I haven’t had the same experience as the jensens yet. But I’ve had an odd hook in a pack that clearly missed the heat treat. Could bend it with ease in any position you wanted and it would hold it. The news doesn’t get me too worked up.
  23. Big heavy rod with lighter tippet will bust you off easy. Only going to be a potential problem if you go under size 16 and can’t get 4x through the eye.
  24. Thank you for that incredibly insightful comment. Truly thought-provoking!
  25. In fact, anything over 19.5 inches.
