  1. Dude, it's been known to be in the state for over 30 years. Thus likely there even longer. You think people were putting their felt boots in quaternary ammonium in 1989? I don't think so. My point is clean it, dry it. Doesn't need to go into a bloody autoclave.
  2. Guys, thoroughly rinsing any bulk debris off and drying thoroughly for a number of days more than enough. No need to go out and buy fancy cleaners. If you are in a time pinch and can't wait for things to go bone dry, soak it in white vinegar for 20 minutes. I can't see that wrecking any gear. The only thing I'd soak is felt soles anyways. Lastly, pretty much whole west side of the US from the Canadian to the Mexican border has whirling disease. They've known it's been in Oregon since 1986.
  3. Guys working there just wanted to take the day off an enjoy an empty river!
  4. I dream of a home alone version of defence. Ha Installed a security system a week or so ago after having a couple attempts at break/ins of my garage in 2 years. We'll see if it does anything. At the very least, it's good for monitoring the house when the pets are home alone.
  5. Yeah I bring my fly boxes in from the garage even. I can't fathom losing all those flies. Spent far too many hours at the bench. A reel and rod can generally be replaced easily!
  6. I remember seeing those around, mixed in with the needles and whatnot.
  7. Darn, the female would've likely got "spey'd"
  8. Wasn't bashing it, that's just the first thing I thought of. I'd probably be a hard sell as I have no real reason to get out of my floating dock... and I can only imagine how well a fiifth fishing craft would go Over with the wife.
  9. One concern Id have is That it looks like a pita to deal with fish going under the outrigger plus your anchors.
  10. Isn't it amazing what happens when I Apply myself to something?
  11. How did that big bald head of yours come up with this theory?
  12. What are all these guys gonna do with their 600 dollar disc drags?! fighting a fish by purely stripping comes with its own risks. Tangling line on stuff at your feet, stepping on it, wrapping around the reel etc. For the sake of argument you can still use your finger/cork as an addition to your drag system when fighting on the reel to maintain proper tension. I think the right answer is using both tools as situation requires.
  13. There would be Too much hugging it out to get any fishin in.
  14. I think wishing for more moderate day time highs would have a stronger impact on river temps than Wishing for a natural disaster. But that's just me.
  15. If you have a disc drag reel you can usually bat the rim While fighting it on the strip to bring most of your line onto the reel and continue from there. I like to get my fish on the reel so the hardy can sing a tune.
  16. Yeah they do same thing on the kootenay river drainage.
  17. Could have also been a laker if you're unsure of your id skills
  18. Haha I wasn't teasing you, I was just making sure I was understanding you. But ya, I'd presume the heavy long head slows your ability to hook set. If your scandi isn't integrated, you could consider buying a cheap floating line and making a sh head out of that. That way you can just change your head out for the walk upstream. When I bring my switch, I use a smith creek rod clip on my hip pack. A bit of a pita, but better than leaving your rod on the bank and have to hike back to get it.
  19. So I have this straight, you have a scandi head and you have a bobber on your leader?
  20. It's months ahead of "normal" max capacity and it's nearly there yet they're still only letting a piss trickle out of the dam. Would be nice if glenmore was a "real" angling opportunity.
  21. With 3x you can really lean on it. Try to Determine where you're breaking. Could be wind knots, Knicks or poorly tied knots.
