  1. Im no fisheries biologist. But doesn’t a quick google search reveal enough information on the affects of dams on tail water fisheries?
  2. Can’t help ya just read the post to make sure cork wasn’t a typo. good luck
  3. If a guy is geared up with a couple thousand dollars of gear...pretty safe bet. Probably look a little closer if you haven’t taken the plastic off the foam handle of your Shakespeare extra heavy spinning rod.
  4. Ya I’ve been given *hit for that too. They said it’s cause they can’t scan it. I made a PDF and signed it digitally, and they can scan it from their phone. I tested it out with one of them.
  5. Last week, Saw some guys that looked like they bonked one at bankside. Called it in, get a call back from a guy in cochrane and that he can’t get a hold of the guy around fish creek. So, the guys went home and a had a fish fry. month or so back was below the dam on the elbow with the dog, saw some skids rigging bait (and pink Powerbait nuggs Floated by) called it in. Officer didn’t even know the access to get down to the base of the dam. Made me wonder how so few officers Don’t know about popular access points. Especially since I’ve personally called in two poaching events at that spot this spring and summer. not blaming them, but still frustrating.
  6. Good job. Pretty frustrating...but youll feel a little better knowing he got caught and you can buy something purdy with the cash.
  7. the “20 inch rainbow” story reminds me a little of the “hey we got lots of snow and it was cold” story as it relates to global warming. Don’t get mad at me. Just something I came across. I too, wondered how much those things have to eat to maintain that mass. Further reading reveals that the pelican populations were crushed and they are finally starting to rebound. May account for your 70’s observations. I did notice that the power lines flossed a few around mac last year. So the bow has that going for it. Ha
  8. Just a tidbit I came across... “Pelicans feed on a wide range of fish and aquatic animals; sticklebacks, perch, northern pike, lake whitefish, salamanders, frogs, and aquatic invertebrates are the usual fare. Contrary to popular belief, pelicans do not consume large quantities of game fish.”
  9. Apparently, They were documented in Alberta in the late 1700’s. Gonna go out on a limb here and say that they’ve been on the bow for longer. That being said, it may have become more popular for them as the fishery blew up after the sewage injections.
  10. Simms. Depends where you’re fishing. For example, I think that no matter what you have, wading the bow is like walking on ice.
  11. Got a pair of vibram recently. Surprised how good they are. Few studs and they will turn you into a tractor. Leaving the old felts for the boat.
  12. Sorry, I’m not clear. Are you saying it’s a fact that the bow is overfished?
  13. I was sort of joking, sort of serious. here is the history of the upgrades. Last I see Is 1980 for phosphates. I suppose it could have taken a couple decades to trickle down. Who knows... http://www.calgary.ca/UEP/Water/Pages/Water-and-wastewater-systems/Wastewater-system/A-History-of-Wastewater-Treatment.aspx
  14. Personally, I would like to see more sewage effluent enter below bearspaw to improve that section.
  15. Wasn’t there just a paper out that showed increased egg resorption in steelhead following the stress of catch and release?
  16. Ya it blows my mind that they don’t put water restrictions in place. Water meters=city gettin paaaaaaid
  17. Your lawn ain’t healthy until it’s growing mushrooms in August!
  18. Imagine, guys on this site getting their panties in a bunch over nothing! Wonder what it says about us?
  19. My next thought woulda been “well how did it fish mid week?” Reports good or bad, move quick. anyways, what does it say about Us if we’re making blanket statements from a couple isolated casual observations? Ha
  20. Probably the quickest way of finding a fish there is to watch the shorelines in the deep South Bay and island for bait busting/fish splashes and fire a thunder creek minnow in.
  21. Just depends on rain. Usually starts to come back in to form around the last week of June. Although, as mentioned in another thread, it looks like some of the snowpacks are dropping quick and may be 1-2 weeks faster than last year. If I doesn’t rain all June, I don’t see why we’re not fishin the bow by the 20th...maybe sooner.
