That would be the" Golden Hour " perfect light for pictures and usually not a bad time to fish too!
-
Great Shots, keep in mind with the warmer temps to handle fish at a minimum (preferably not at all...net only) as done in these photos

Hey Rob nice Bow...... just arrived back in town this PM.... see you were out with the good Doctor....early AM float?..... river looks good but low coming home from the Airport
-
I would think anyone carrying outcast boats as they are a popular upgrade...check with Mike at Iron Bow
-
After all the "tug is the drug" suckers , whitefish ,pike, trout they all pull..... sight fishing for carp is on my bucket list .....
-
I think the biggest thing the new rower does not understand is that a takes 3 or 4 strokes to get the boat moving so in essence as far as work is involved "more is less" the other one they usually miss is aligning the boat with the current fall-line.... when they get out of alignment the boat ferries across the current (jon boat even more) and all of a sudden they are mid-river or worse on the bank.... I guess this is why all the guys I tend to fish with all own boats themselves because when it gets down to it you catch way more fish from a properly rowed boat

Unless it might be a bonapart

Summer Wading Boots And Shoes
bowbonehead replied to flywiz's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Late to the show... but I have both the sandals and the vapors I really only use the sandals for lake fishing out of a boat as I find even with the closed toes you still tend to get gravel in there other than that a great product as are the Keens. On the river I have a tendency to jump out of the boat at random times and having the support of a full boot is huge.....ditto on the simms wading socks and neoprene booties.....keep in mind the simms booties are a little thicker than the MEC ones so it really depends on foot size I wear a 29.5/11.5 shoe so a 12 in the vapor boot and the little thicker neoprene plus sock make up the extra room whereas I cannot use extra neoprene booties with my G4 waders unless I go to a different boot. -
I will keep you in mind, I know a number of "old farts" that have them

I have been using a 7100 and 8100 RPL for years and love them for slinging streamers from a boat or wading and actually find them to be a lot less work as the need to false cast is minimal particularly from the boat when pounding banks at this time of year.... mind you the RPL's are very fast action compared to some rods.....perhaps you could test drive first?
-
The problem i usually see from most less experienced rods is putting the fly down way to far above where the fish is rising thus decreasing the chance of the fly drifting over the fish and increasing the chance of drag..... put it three to four feet above them as soon as you see them rise this means one quick false cast and put the fly in there before the fish has a chance to move elsewhere in the current... it will take some practice but your takes will increase...

They were likely sallys what color were they....was the.under belly different -
Dief flies For goldeye small leach patterns but on a calm day they may take a dry I mostly have fished the typical pike flies when targeting them in the bays but there are lots of Wallys and Sauger so a clauser or zonker is a good bet for them. Where are you fishing Sask landing, Elbow, Riverhurst there still are some tank Rainbows further up the lake I imagine. Good luck and be safe as that Lake can kick up in a hurry

Agreed that the PCs did not deserve to be re-elected..... however I am a little concerned about a lot of the newly elected candidates and their experience...yoga instructors, musicians.... it will an interesting 4 years.... but we needed some sort of change and hopefully some honest politicians for a change....fingers crossed.... the bigger issue is government is a business and can not be run at a deficit forever or you go bankrupt like us in the real world.... oh I forgot they do not play by the same rules as the rest of us.... -
Not sure if playing " whack #@%^# " constitutes being in jail..... unless you have no choice .

Rob are those Northern Leopard's? Reason I ask is I have seen a big increase in the number of frogs on the river this year and I believe they are Leopards... I thought I had read that their numbers were on the decline.....Sorry for the hijack but a great thread .....

Stimulators With Or Without Legs ?
bowbonehead replied to greatbigdiddy's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Just an opinion and I know the originals were without but it would be like fishing a Turk's or a Chernobyl without legs.....a little mend and they come alive.... -
I did come across one pod like this yesterday and after trying 4 different patterns down to a size 20 emergers included which were next to impossible to see, I switched to a little tungsten backswimmmer and took 4 in 4 casts..... sometimes we have to cheat...made me feel dirty.... lol went back to the usual dries after that at the next spot where they were more than willing to eat on the surface

Lots of snouts today and not a soul on the river....... pray for snow

Looking For A Guide Thats Not Terry Johnson
bowbonehead replied to BigFoamy's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Hate to say to say it but your more in demand guides are often booked months or a year ahead and their favorite time to fish is the fall as the steelhead are calling and the best dry fly fishing is in the late fall so they are less apt to give up an un-booked day -
Kings River I think or very similar although I have not seen the trailing shuck version.... very nice!
